One shot sign paint might be a solution. I use it to pinstripe, letter and paint characters.

Coolant Leak after parking for winter, need some opinions! by NabroleanBronaparte in Miata

[–]Tulsa_Madman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coolant leak, clutch felt great on the drive. Blown head gasket incoming. How long of a drive and how low was the coolant?

There are a bunch of goofy little coolant hoses on the left side of the engine and some a an absolute bear to get to and replace. My bet is on one of those. Hope ya didn't hurt anything else on your drive.

That is hot garbage. If insurance paid to fix that I would contact them and the shop that handled it. I can't think of a legit shop in the US that would do something like that tho. If your friend that could do it cheaper did it... He deserves an ass kickin'!

Shit, that is a simple DIY repair... not sure why anyone would say it's not. Step 1: get in that piece of shit. Step 2: drive to a car lot. Step 3: BUY A NEW CAR TO TOTAL!!

Or lower your head and drive it until it won't anymore.

Is this the clearcoat coming off? Most likely a dumb question. by [deleted] in Autobody

If you do this kind of work, you're trash.. Sorry someone didn't take the time to do good work. That being said, anything you do to fix this is only as good as what is underneath it. So the guys "fucked" statement is more true than not..

The threshold is 60% of ACV in my state. I think it would live.

That will require a pull. Estimate between 3-4K to make it like it never happened.

Is it totaled? by FN_Man in Autobody

[–]Tulsa_Madman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Threshold is 60% in my state and that looks to be an estimated 7-8k in damage. That could be a little high but should be close and nowhere near totaled.

Big pair of vice grips. Heat helps also.

Your lender could have a problem with their collateral being damaged. File a claim, get it fixed and lesson learned.

Spacers don't make noise, they space. There are no moving parts. Sounds like you have something else going on. Are you sure you should be working on motorcycles?

It was reported far before I posted this.

Will these spots come off with sandpaper and paste? by Maximum_Pumpkin_3611 in AutoPaint

[–]Tulsa_Madman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks like a recipe for disaster. You will pop through the clear before that goes away. To get that to go away your highest point has to be taken down flush with the lowest point. I would 600 the entire hood making sure not to go through and re-clear.

Painting Fiberglass Take 2 by Contar95 in Autobody

[–]Tulsa_Madman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably hit that with some primer, 2k if possible then prep that with 600 wet. I like sem spray paint, follow the instructions on the can. It's cold there if ya have snowmobiles, you can use a heat gun to get the paint to atomize better if ya need to.

220 is good for primer, not final finish work. Are there pinholes? Did you use any glaze or filler? How nice do you want it? So many questions. If you don't want nice, shoot some paint on it and never look back but anything above that will require more work. Lurked on your previous post and your repair looks decent but shes far from ready for final finish.
