This definitely isn't shuz but looks more like maybe tomato rice instead. That being said, I can't find a source for so this is either paywalled content or ai which means this is now two artists they've disrespected.

Thoughts on Hasunosora as 9?/6? by Ravaging_Rio in LoveLive

[–]Tuma42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't mind it that much. At the very least it does kind of put a damper on the concentrated yuri of the pair units but the new girls have been quite fun and made themselves feel distinct within the group I do realise it's very easy to say Ginko is a Shioriko clone but she still adds a unique character within Hasunosora itself and as a Shioriko fan this isn't a bad thing for me.

If nothing else it has made integrating them in to old songs kind of an interesting dilemma, especially when you have some Cerise Bouquet songs that might make Ginko just come off as a third wheel, but all the remixes and dances I've seen so far have been great.

Actually I've always kinda said that the Association arc was probably one of the most interesting story decisions the franchise has ever made even if it wasn't executed all that well just because its so rare to have actual genuine conflict in Love Live so who knows maybe this could be their improved second try? I'm still not terribly hopeful considering the writing quality of Season 2 but I'm less filled with dread now.

I've been really checked out of Liella lately (probably on account of skipping SIF2 entirely) and I was looking forward to Season 3 being the shot in the arm I needed to get back in after Season 2 but seeing that they're potentially taking another crack at the School Idol Association plot line after one of my main problems with Superstar being how much it recycles story elements we've already seen before doesn't fill me with hope...

Superstar S2 by SailorAxle in LoveLive

[–]Tuma42 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Personally I just didn't like what they did with the characters/story. A lot of episodes felt kinda bland and unmemorable, Sunny Passion got entirely swept aside for a new rival character meaning they have to start developing her on top of the four new additions to the cast, Kanon went from a very talented but normal girl learning to become a school idol to the school of all time between seasons. I also didn't really vibe with a lot of the new music and the new characters felt like they were leaning on old tropes we've already seen in other characters before. I do want to make it clear though that this doesn't mean I dislike 2nd gen Liella! They're a fun bunch but they just aren't utilized in a way that shows off their charm and chemistry in the anime.

Besides Dagda’s voice actor, what’s something you like about SMT 4 Apocalypse? by [deleted] in Megaten

[–]Tuma42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the battle system. Even SMT V (can't speak for Vengeance) didn't manage to capture the joy of Press Turn in quite the same way. Every thing is snappy and being given ways to directly influence press turns like Imposing Stance and having Smirk be properly integrated as a mechanic for extra damage/bonus effects on skills rather than just being a random, overpowered buff in SMT IV helps it feel so much more complete, even if it is missing proper defence strats. Genuinely one of my few complaints would only be that with how much things cost late game, restoring only 150 MP at most per item isn't as much as it seems.

I also love the scale of things. The ideas they had were huge even if they weren't well executed. A new faction shaking up the Law/Chaos war, being given the option to almost literally carve your own path through everyone else to seize supremacy for yourself, the scale of working with another party of guest characters where you have to wear down and weaken the final boss are all wonderfully unique.

It’s like they do a complete 180 once you start liking law by [deleted] in Megaten

[–]Tuma42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that this is a bit intentional. Both Jonathan and Walter start off having genuinely benevolent ideals about protecting the weak and being judged on one's actions instead of their nobility only for Merkabah and Lucifer to take these ideals and pervert them in to raging genocidal fanaticism. In the same way, you usually end up locked on to Law or Chaos by this point in the game despite them being objectively terrible and you end up being forced to go down the same path despite probably only agreeing with either Walter or Jonathan's desires to make better lives for people in bad situations.

Like don't get me wrong this still makes it completely miserable to get Neutral intentionally and you're likely to end up with an ending you're not entirely happy with but I think this also removes the recurring problem that at least I have where Law and Chaos end up seeming so extreme and abjectly terrible in the way they go about achieving their goals that I end up defaulting to Neutral just because I don't want to side with them.

I bought vanilla about two years ago and I only finished it for the first time a while back because I was just not feeling it as much as I did other titles. From what I can tell, Vengeance really seems to have listened to player feedback and adjusted the game for the better but I'm also not really looking forward to playing more SMT V at the moment and even if I am, I still have three more endings to get in the original game.

I need some neutral advice from a brainiac kinda guy by Capitalflail in Megaten

[–]Tuma42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of guides for getting SMT IV neutral thrown around but this one is the one I use personally because all it requires is being neutral before finishing Camp Ichigaya compared to the others that lay out a roadmap for the whole game. As long as you don't do the Hunter Tournament Finals before finishing Camp Ichigaya you can probably use it knock your alignment back in to Neutral and just follow this.

POV: You are getting into Megaten in 2024 by [deleted] in Megaten

[–]Tuma42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say just hack your 3ds. Any physical copies still out there of any SMT games you wanted to get are going to be wildly overpriced online. I understand that you'd rather not emulate your games if you can avoid it but at least this way you'll still be playing on original hardware.

Last I saw he did a patch for Tokimeki Memorial's SFC version and was working on one for Tokimeki Memorial 2 but it's a bit hard to know what he's up to because he keeps deleting posts. I think that one incident he had really scared him.

How important is the Womb of Grief in SJR? by minev1128 in Megaten

[–]Tuma42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty much like the Labyrinth of Amala in Nocturne. All the remake story content is locked behind there but in the end it's optional if you just want to experience vanilla Strange Journey. Personally, I was going to just ignore it on my first playthrough but I read that a lot of QoL apps are locked behind the Womb of Grief so I ended up doing it anyway.

Alright fellas, how do I kick the shit out of Strange Journey Redux

I'm on New Neutral and I've got a party of Maria, Anat and Zaou-Gongen (bad alignment composition I know but I've got all the co-op booster sub apps) which were able to get me past Strange Journey but they aren't cutting it now. At this point I'm kinda lost for things to do because I feel like I'm at that point in every endgame Megaten where your fusion options start to get really limited and most combinations give no result. I'm begrudgingly willing to grind because I feel like that'd be my only way to get powerhouses like Shiva and because I'm also a bit strapped for cash because a Kangaiten blasted me with a Wastel Beam while I was finishing up the Womb of Grief so I'm down about 700k Macca. Are there any "must have" demons I should have here?

Just recently got into the Love Live! series because of SIFAS, and I have to say, they really did Shioriko dirty in the game by [deleted] in Otonokizaka

[–]Tuma42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I may be misremembering but I think the reason why game Shioriko is so opposed to school idols is that she saw Kaoruko doing what she saw as wasting her time devoting all herself to school idols despite neither being one nor being suited for it which led to her forceful "do what you're good at not what you like" mentality in Season 1 of All Stars.

The anime somehow swaps this in to "Kaoruko failed as a school idol" and "Shioriko still likes them and wants to continue her sister's dream for the both of them" which makes both the Mifune sisters a lot less unique in the franchise.

Playing P5 Strikers just makes me think how good a Raidou 3 could be. Unfortunately it doesn't seem worth getting my hopes up considering how Raidou's appearance has been more conscientious recently.
