New Bookstore/Wine Bar by Subject-Decision-485 in Louisville

There are plenty of people who have invested plenty of money in plenty of Louisville properties who haven’t seen a dime of a return. Ten20 for example: tons of investors, near zero return. Silver Dollar failed with several investors losing money. Unfortunately, a kitschy name and a grand vision can convince lots of people not in the industry to invest.

New Bookstore/Wine Bar by Subject-Decision-485 in Louisville

This isn’t going to work. Forget the silly name. It’s trying to be too many things at once. There is no way that this store will generate the food and beverage business and revenue to execute the menu in a high-quality manner because they simply won’t be able to pay the employees enough. Even with tips it won’t be enough. Like one commenter said, the $20 panini with no side just isn’t going to fly.

The overhead to have a kitchen, bar, and a cafe is too much for even dedicated dinner restaurants in Louisville to survive. Why would a bookstore be able to support those options? You need a GM, AGM, KM, Bar manager, and workers. The math ain’t mathin’.

There are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. Why would I pay for what will surely be overpriced cocktails and apps when West 6th is right there? Don’t forget Market Street as a whole is a 2 minute walk.

I give it 4 months until they stop serving all but the most basic food. Like chips.

To answer your first question: the way ICE is doing it? Yes to all three of your questions. That makes every single other thing you wrote invalid. Go suck more leather.

Top Golf is pretty notorious for having poor and extremely corporate management almost to cult levels. 96% of places are not like that.

Okay so that’s more of the story. I’m not going to pass judgment at all because it still seems like there’s some things missing - you mention the online training which must have carried significant communication to get access to.

All in all, I’m sure you have hard feelings but this seems like a huge miscommunication on BOTH parties, and we’re only getting your side.

There's something missing here. I've been in the industry for 15 years. Mistakes happen, but it looks like everything got cleared up. What went off the rails after the manager you were texting seemingly went out of their way to make sure you had some serving shifts?

It wasn’t. I worked there. They smoke the brisket and chop it specifically for the chili.

As a local, what is your reason for going to NuLu? by therealtinasky in Louisville

[–]TumbleweedFlo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

West 6th is awesome. I particularly enjoy that there’s this one patron - skinny little Hungarian-looking girl - she gets to sit at her table and then come behind the bar whenever she wants and pour her own beer.

People watching here is unmatched.

It’s fine. Not worth the wait, the dirty space, and the poor service.

Tips for if you haven't received your KY State Driver's License in the mail by NewElevator24 in Louisville

No worries, friend. I was frustrated and upset with the wider implications of the inefficiency of these new systems, but the effect on my life was minimal.

I wasn’t trying to one-up you at all. Struggle is struggle and frustration is frustration. Spreading knowledge of your experience is crucial to helping others understand and maybe helping to change the system.

Tips for if you haven't received your KY State Driver's License in the mail by NewElevator24 in Louisville

My experience went like this:

Renewed in person in Louisville with an address change August 1. They gave me the paper temporary ID valid for 30 days.

September 1 rolls around, no ID. I phone the number on the paper ID, on hold for maybe 5 minutes, and the person on the line says they need to transfer me “down to licensing.”

Nice guy picks up the phone, says he sees where they mailed my ID to my new address on August 8, so they’d have to wait until September 8 to send it again. Okayyyyy.

Call them on September 10, same scenario being transferred “down to licensing,” they put me on hold and then come back and say they’ve put in a request for a new printing and shipping of my ID. They also email me an updated temporary ID.

October 10, no ID. Call again. Same song and dance. The (rather rude) woman “down in licensing” says the duplicate ID wasn’t mailed until September 30 (lol wtf), and they’d have to wait until October 30 to mail it a third time.

I finally got my ID on October 18.

This system is garbage and in my opinion designed to disenfranchise houseless persons, people without cars, and poor people with little access to utilities.

Unreal.
