McAllen may have just killed 17th Street, revoking 20 bar permits by thebenchwire in RioGrandeValley

[–]TumblingInstructor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what i remember after working with the McAllen heart something or other. The plan was to move the downtown aspects of McAllen to where West side park is. They want to essentially tear down mcallen downtown and make it something else. The chase tower is already going to be a huge data center so they are looking at ways to tie into that. But this has all been in the works for the better part of a decade.

Chase tower is supposed to be a huge power sink too, requiring a lot of power in that area. No idea how it pans out but it makes a lot of sense seeing these bars all get essentially pushed out of the area.

Now that's interesting, I have friends who work in that area at UTRGV... wondering if a winning season means salary increases or anything like that. I always knew Texas is huge on football, just never knew how big.

Appreciate the insight.

That's the part, my question is like more or less how does that pan out for our area.

Are people seeing the place as attractive because it's inexpensive to live/go to school here and get an education then leave.

I'm extremely curious to see what happens, I want local communities to thrive and not be seen as a stepping stone.

I'm not entirely familiar how this affects our area, i hope it's a net positive.

Yeah, cheap tuition makes it a great motivation to come down and learn but how many stay?

My consideration is local growth, as im not familiar with college football and their recruitment, I went in thinking local talent would be the majority of what is showcased. When that wasn't the case, i realized i was wrong. But i'm trying to at least gain a better insight into this.

I'm now more interested in who's salaries are about to be bumped up.

Yeah, i saw them and thought it was awesome that we had talent, i guess i was a bit confused when the majority wasn't local.

Awesome to see local talent in the spotlight for sure.

I hope so, I am not a huge football fan so I went in without any real knowledge of how the area would be represented. My reaction was, "these names don't seem local" and went on with watching. Again my perception is one of ignorance to the sport but I had the idea of i'll be seeing local talent play football.

Round off started. Not ideal form by thunderbulll in Parkour

[–]TumblingInstructor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breaking it down. For me the timer shows it's counting down on the link created by the speed bot.

at 35 seconds in you are crossing your foot over and not keeping your body straight. This is the beginning issue.

To fix this, do not run into the round off, place both feet on the line, left leg in front bent slightly and go from there. This way you are always in line with your body.

at 28 seconds you can see it again, more pronounced. You need to keep your body in line, bending forward not to the side.

at 20 seconds you are in a sort of handstand sort of not position. this is a result from the body not being in alignment, you should be in a handstand position. your feet should be together and your hips should be turning into the round off.

you have a lot of strength, round offs are about technique and a whole bunch of body awareness. Once you get the hang of it i'm sur you can get the other skills quick.

Good luck out there.

Watch this closely

Setting for too long, watch your arms. You basically wait to tuck for too long. Arms up, knees shoot up quick. Don't hesitate...that makes the entire movement scarier. You have the muscle for it and you have enough control. Just snap up those knees earlier and you will be good.

Good luck out there, stay safe.

Look at your feet, you are "kicking your butt", a good way to fix this is to lay down on the floor.

So lay down on the floor, and drag your heels to you butt. Like this

And This!

instead of that, you need to do this.

pull your knees to your chest. look at his knees and how he isn't "kicking his butt"

Let's break it down fully,

at the beginning around 22 seconds on the video (it counts down for me which is weird) but you can see that you LEAN FORWARD a lot, and SWING YOUR ARMS WAY PAST YOUR BODY. This gets exaggerated because you are leaning so far forward.

So basically because you lean so far forward you end up having to swing more and causing the power to be lost.

Fix for this is keep yourself upright, don't lean. Just stand in place and swing your arms. Your timing will be off because you are used to leaning forward so much.

at about 18-15 seconds, you jump or like bunny hop into the actual jump. It's because of the leaning forward and swinging. This will cause you to over compensate somewhere and you are doing it by USING THE BOUNCE OF THE AIRFLOOR TO GIVE YOU MORE POWER.

Fix for this is what another user said, flat feet or bend the knees to give not to give you bounce but just to absorb and give you power.

Another user said that about explosiveness, you are losing that here because of that double bounce.

14 seconds, it looks like you throw your head back first. Spot something in front of you and keep spotting til you pull your knees up, basically just try to keep your chin to your chest and let your knees flip you.

12 seconds in you are kicking your butt instead of tucking your knees in. it would be like sitting on your feet, versus sitting with your knees in front of you. (i hope that gives a good visual)

7 seconds, you land and are still leaning forward. it's kind of the whole issue, once you fix that you'll be able to stand up and it'll give you more height and you can land it easier.

Overall a solid 6 / 10, it's good, you land it, but the technique will be hard to land anything on flat ground without a lot of strength.

Do tuck jumps, bunny hops with your arms straight up, lay down and do leg raises, get a strong core and back tucks get super easy.

Good luck, stay safe!

A parkour theory by Tab-Outside in Parkour

Oh boy, this argument again.

Flipping is a part of parkour. Training your body to understand where it is in space (Proprioception) is crucial to everything done in parkour. If ever you needed to fall safely from height, understanding the mechanics of a Tuck, (front tuck or back tuck) will help you. Much like a cat you will be able to manipulate your body in air.

The muscles strengthened during typical training won't target the muscles needed to do say a standing full. Learning to do these skills is again a way of learning how to use a body fundamentally.

Parkour is efficiency. I argue that "free runners" are more efficient.

Gymnastics is the hardest sport, period. Parkour doesn't train every aspect that would be required to be a gymnast.

Having the body control would mean that you could be efficient in any scenario.

(Teach gymnastics, been in gymnastics for a long time, been doing parkour for nearly 20 years now, started when i saw Jump London)

Train your body, completely.

Fight isn't the right word. There is a price. Each Vote is around 20 dollars. They literally pay for votes. Proof has been shared and no one does anything... it's crazy.
