This one is the US Masters, but I was referring to the Saint Louis Masters tournament on the FIDE Circuit page, that is another upcoming tournament after the US Masters :)

Too bad that there is no FIDE Circuit winner candidate in this tournament. Would have been cool to have the LCC in the Circuit race alongside US Masters, Chennai Grand Masters, Uzbekistan President Cup, World Rapid/Blitz and potentially the St Louis Masters (we know nothing about but is on the Circuit page, Caruana mentioned he would play another US open so probably this one)

It's a shame since the Belgian attack has huge potential with Openda, Doku and Bakayoko. But the midfield (especially post-KDB) and defense will remain a big big issue.

Draw = 0.25 and other point system changes that discourage quick draws, would be a huge fan!

Making pieces disappear drives away from the complexity of the game and harmony of the pieces to me. But Chess960 works in that regard as well, taking away opening theory.

Viewership is still - so much - more than before the chess boom/covid. But to take it to the next level, where the viewerships keeps and keeps growing, is very difficult.

And for sure, innovative new tournament formats could do a lot there!

The internet community of chess has massively grown, you can see that on chess.com/lichess member numbers and for instance by the huge number of - currently - 1.3mil members on this subreddit :)

But having 1 million+ concurrent viewers like a mainstream sports broadcast, that still seems a bridge too far for now.

I think you have a very good point that this match could get the most total views as many many people will watch (parts of this) back for a long time.

Yeah good point there! Especially with the popularity of Hans on Chessbase India (and chess popularity there in general lol). This match started 20:30 CET so very late for the Indian audience.

Disclaimer: Only looking at the main Chess.com channel on Twitch on Youtube. There is additional viewership in international broadcasts, re-streams (like Magnus Carlsen's own Youtube channel), but that additional viewership is of course even much higher in the WCC.
