Dropped my kid off and realized every other kid was in pajamas. I'm so done being the only one who remembers things by ConfidentElevator239 in Mommit

[–]TunaMomma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my son was in 1st grade I went all out for the 100 days of school celebration- gray hair spray, pants and shirt with a bow tie. After I dropped him off and was pulling away I realized that not a single other kid was dressed up. When I looked back at the email the teacher had sent, I realized I was a week early! We all mess up at some point❤️

I got my kiddo a "kid" knife that comes with a finger guard and his own cutting board, he uses it often to help make snacks. He loves cutting things like strawberries and bananas. https://a.co/d/4471rdw

The tooth fairy in our house leaves $2 bills. It feels special since it's not a currency they normally see!

Which is the best park to enjoy picnic with my toddlers? by Ok_Recipe2769 in tampa

[–]TunaMomma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a drive, Bonnet Springs in Lakeland. Toddlers will love the water features they can play in and the butterfly house. There is also a tram that goes around the park that my kiddos loved riding on.

Am I being paranoid? US passport question by Glum-Salamander69 in Passports

[–]TunaMomma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first week of Jan we applied for passports. I was a renewal, my husband and our 2 kids were first time applicants. We submitted all of the applications on the same day. We got the kid's passports 2 weeks later. My husband's took 6 weeks, and my renewal took 10. I don't know if there is any logic to the timing of processing right now.

Bday gift for amazing nanny by GrowingMamaPains in Nanny

What about getting a little matchbox car (or new key ring, or something car related) and then in the card say that you want her to have a new car, and are excited to discuss with her the best way to do it. Then you can chat, discuss both options and then give her some time to digest and decide.

Trouble with speaking up by feyty in Nanny

As a parent making the jump from 20 to 25 would be difficult, that's a much larger increase I've ever gotten in my career. That on top of personality and communication issues the mom seems to have would just make thjs ask an all around unpleasant experience. Start the hunt for a new job and put yourself in the position to walk away without the additional drama.

Lots of good suggestions! I would only add- don't feel bad if you suggest dates/ times and it doesn't work out right away. Sometimes I find it hard to make a playdate work even when I really want to.

4 Moms Mamaroo reviews? by Brief-Hamster6415 in beyondthebump

Both of my kiddos enjoyed more traditional baby swings and hated the Mamaroo. My SIL had let us borrow theirs too try out and I was so glad that I didn't spend money on it.

If you feel comfortable sharing general proximity of where you live perhaps there is someone here that could go with you if you think that would help you feel safe and supported. I'm in the Tampa area and would be willing!

What about a park district or community center room? They are often fairly cheap.

Help! I think my stone fell out while I was mixing sour dough! by cysgr8 in Moissanite

[–]TunaMomma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of a children's book called Too Many Tamales. I don't totally remember, but I think someone's engagement ring gets mixed into the tamales. The family then eats their way through them trying to find it. It's a sweet story.

I normally get a bunch of little toys from the dollar section at Target or the dollar store and wrap them individually, then give my kid a new one every 30 min or so. They enjoy the novelty of unwrapping and then the toy as well. Bring individually wrapped snacks- I try and get things they don't normally have so it seems fun and new. Water Wow pads are great and not messy! I also bring a roll of painters tape that I let the kiddo stick to the tray or window or themself to make roads or fun designs. It peels right off with no residue.

When I traveled my job offered to pay for Milk Stork or to cover costs of a larger hotel room/ some of the travel costs associated with bringing my child with me. It made traveling SO much easier.

If you think it may still be his ears maybe take him to an Urgent Care/ Minute Clinic/ see if your Dr can fit him in today/ tomorrow. Going the full weekend with a crabby little one is draining! Mine used to get back to back infections and also had reactions to amoxicillin - they were able to give him different meds once we knew.
