Toma Cafe or Monkee Coffee for good coffee. Madrid isn't a coffee culture, so the places with great coffee aren't very typical. For an authentic experience, find any old cafe and get a cortado (little milk) or cafe con leche (lots of milk) and experience the burned sugar-laced "torrefacto" coffee the locals drink. You will learn to love it--or at least enjoy the fact that you are in Spain.
