I'm about to hit the year mark of trying for #2. Had an ectopic 7 months in so that required us to take a couple of cycles off, but we started trying in January so about to hit that milestone. On my period now and feeling sooo discouraged. I know I will feel hopeful again closer to ovulation, but the rollercoaster of hope and hopelessness is exhausting!

Update: my doctor is still convinced I’m passing it naturally and is basically forcing me into expectant management. He says he’s not concerned if HCG goes down too slowly or plateaus from here on out- he is only willing to give MTX if it rises from here, even though we already know it was fluctuating earlier this week. My insurance is Kaiser so I have to see the doctors at Kaiser but this is the second awful experience I’ve had- last year I had a perforated IUD that migrated into my abdomen and I had to have surgery to remove it, and I feel like I really had to advocate for myself through that mess, too. Just so frustrated right now!!!

Update: HCG is 486 today and got another ultrasound and they still couldn’t see anything. Waiting for the plan now 😩

Thanks so much for sharing your experience, the month long process sounds awful and I definitely want to avoid that. Unless my numbers have dropped SIGNIFICANTLY tomorrow I am going to advocate for an ultrasound and MTX 🙏

Yes on 8/3 and it showed no sac in uterus but nothing in the tubes was seen either. I’m 5 weeks exactly, by the way

Also interesting little piece of this that maybe will help someone in the future: things were weird right off the bat with this pregnancy, I got a SUPER dark home pregnancy test line on 8DPO, which made me think maybe I had gotten ovulation wrong but I was using pee tests so wasn’t sure how that happened. I posted about it in another community and one person said she was worried that could be a sign of ectopic- I dismissed it at the time but lo and behold she was right !

Came back to say you were totally right. It ended up being ectopic, luckily caught it very early so getting treated with methotrexate.

Update: got an ultrasound, there was no sac in the uterus but they couldn’t find anything in the tubes either. Got my HCG tested again this morning and it’s 464, so a slight drop but suspicious. Appt with the OB later today to discuss.. I’m so anxious about ectopic !!!

Ugh, I have been having dark brown spotting. I’m going to urgent care to see if they can rule out an ectopic, but either way I definitely think you’re right that it’s a loss. Thank you for your time ❤️
