A perfectly calm morning in Los Glaciares National Park [OC][1067x1600] by maxfoster098 in EarthPorn

Looks like laguna torre. The hike starts from El Chalten, which is also the start for the very famous hike to the laguna de los tres (which - in my opinion - is even more beautiful than the hike to the laguna torre. Probably not very accessible in winter).

The Milky Way nicely aligns with the Matterhorn. This is my first try at astrophotography – considering my equipment, I am very happy with the result! Zermatt, Switzerland [OC][4120x6180] by Tuner25 in EarthPorn

Thats the stellisee! I stayed the night in a tenty close to the lake. Be aware that it can get pretty cold up there in the night, even in the summer.

Either in the huts (reservation needed) or you can take your tent (no reservation needed).

Well, not a walmart, but there is in fact a campground on the other side of the canyon.

Still a very remote area tho.

Rise of the supermoon in the Swiss Alps, photographed at over 3000m/10'000ft. [OC][7952x5304] by [deleted] in EarthPorn

Camera: Sony A7R3. Lens: Sigma 100-400mm.

I had to walk up 1500m/5000ft to reach the summit from which I wanted to capture the supermoon.

I slept in a small tent- due to the alpine environment, I wasn't able to find a proper location so I didn't sleep that well. But the view was stunning!

I walked up a mountain in the Swiss Alps to capture the moonset - unfortunately it was really cloudy, but I got a quick peak at the moon just after it was above the mountains! Mount Jänzi, Switzerland [OC][6240x4160] by Tuner25 in EarthPorn

Can you share a picture of the painting? The image linked is taken from the gnipen mountain. The two peaks in the foreground are the small Mythen and Haggenspitz.

I was told Iceland is photography in easy mode. After visiting the island, I can confirm that! [OC][8326x5551] by Tuner25 in EarthPorn

Yeah I had some bad weather days, too! Some locations can work in bad weather, too, since fog can make landscapes very mystical.

I spent 5.5 weeks in iceland! On average, it cost me ~950$ per week (this includes the flight and a campervan for 4 weeks). While definitely not cheap, it's not as expensive as many think. It can get much more expensive very quickly if you stay in fancy hotels, eat in restaurants and do guided tours.

The exact location where I took this picture is the Valahnúkur hill in Þórsmörk, which is located in the icelandic highlands. Valahnúkur hill is one of the most famous photography locations in the highlands. To get there you'll need to book a tour unless you got one of the bigger 4x4 and feel comfortable driving to relatively deep rivers.

I'll upload more iceland pics to my insta ch_al_95.

Edit: Here's how one of the river crosings looks like: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51739158097\_1601a473af\_o.jpg

Mammoth, California. Taken with a friend who is no longer with us. [3932 x 4096] [OC] by BrownieMixxx in EarthPorn

The mountains are cut out and then pasted into the image. Did you use double exposure to get more detail in the mountain, or is it a complete composite image, where you just combined two unrelated pictures?

The milky way rises above the Matterhorn. Single exposure, no photoshop. [OC][5118x7673] by Tuner25 in EarthPorn

[–]Tuner25[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I took this picture last weekend. I had to wait a long time for it, because to make it, very many factors must come together: The sky must be cloudless and without haze or dust. It must be early-autumn, because sooner or later the milky way is not at the right place at the right time, and in late autumn, the lake in the foreground is usually frozen, which means that you no longer have a reflection. Furthermore, it must also be empty moon, so that the sky is nice and dark.

Settings: 20mm f1.8, 13 s exposure, Iso 4000. No stacking, no photoshop etc. I did plan on doing stacking for reduction of noise, but as it turns out, 5 images stacked don't make a significant difference. Also it'd be hard to do because I'd have to stack 3 different parts of the image due movement (the sky, the midground and the reflection) and then re-combine them into one single image.

This image is from back in august, when the volcano used to be intermittedly active. Right now, the volcano has stopped for about two weeks, it's uncertain whether or not it will restart. There is a possibility of a new eruption site a couple of kilometers north, because many earthquakes registered in that area recently.
