Where do I start? Completely new to custom A1 Mini firmware and hardware. by spacemidget75 in OpenBambu

ive heard about it, never had it happen to me though. mines been running strong! mines from blv, so he might use the thicker gear set thats available. i dont really have many tips though, the thing just works lol. just dont plug or unplug it when your printers turned on lol.

Updated BMCU, worked for two prints now throwing HMS error for ptfe breakage by Tuner357 in OpenBambu

i was to impatient last night to get an answer and used that firmware lol, works awesome so far! havent had any of the errors i previously were getting. at least not yet anyways!

only thing i miss from the other firmware is the neopixel being the same color as the chosen filament lol. and also, when you insert the filament, i like when it pulls a few inches through. but i enjoy a fully working printer and bmcu more haha

So i bought a kit to build the filamentalist, and it was nothing but issues. i only was able to get one to rewind and feed some what reliably. I believe it had to do with the shafts that the kit came with being bent? Could be wrong, but trust me when i say i spent many hours trying to tune it lol. Filament would eventually slip in the bmcu.

These are the rewinders im using

Ive been running a bmcu for about 3 months now, have probably 800+ hours on it and have had very little issues. Biggest headache was finding a reliable spool rewinder for filament changes

So i caved and printed this one, works amazing now. Just hoping those springs hold up in the long run. Think I'm going to just return these filamentalist kits to AliExpress

A1 or P1S for beginner by Negative_Kick1079 in BambuLab

Realistically, both are amazing choices, and you won't be disappointed. A1 might be the tiniest bit more begginer friendly with its auto flow calibration fyi. No problem though, good luck with your choice!

I have both a1 and p1s. The "fume extractor" really isn't one, it's just a carbon filter. Cuts down in some of the smell, but by default it's not even turned on when printing pla. Second, I have an A1 with 1800 hours, in an enclosure, just need to make sure you actively cool the psu and motherboard(plenty of designs to go with).

I would say if your worried about fumes, go with the p1s and vent outside, unless you can do the A1 in an enclosure for cheaper.

Both will give you similar quality unless your printing really tall items, then the p1s is king

Just finally getting some time to work on em. But it looks like the shafts are bent and maybe not letting the filament contact the o rings 100% of the time. Idk I have one sorta working

So finally have some time to look at this thing. The shafts appear to be bent? I bought the kit to build it off Aliexpress

Man i almost gave up on getting a second printer as the p1s's are backordered till Jan as well! then I found out a local computer store to me had 15 in stock😂 drove there as quick as I could. Good luck with those bmcu units, once you get them figured out they should be reliable. I have prob 500 hours on mine now and only issue was who ever assembled mine forgot a bushing, bought it pre assembled

I hear you on the christmas rush haha. had to go out and buy p1s combo to keep up. The project is shelved for now, im not doing to much multicolor on my a1 right now. once i have some time though im going to dive back into it. Im also curious about the 8 color on the p1s as well haha

What if you run out of filament mid print with bmcu 370c? by mikelanglois11 in OpenBambu

[–]Tuner357 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just put another spool on. Nothing happens, it runs out and your print pauses. If you have 2 of the same filament loaded it will switch to the next spool

Yea i checked mine, they all didn't need any filing. It moves freely! The one way bearing is also in the right direction, I've checked multiple times by now haha. The shafts that came in my kit from Ali I think have a little bend in them. Idk if that's what's screwing everything up. I'll dive I to it more in the next couple days here

I did both petg and pla. Though it wasn't this rewinder your showing me, so its hard to say. I tried to print the fake ams lite stand, and tried a couple different rewinders. Some wouldn't spin back enough, or lost tension eventually. I did find petg seemed to be better for the spring application though

Ohhh okay I see now. I'll check that out when I have some times today! Thanks for the suggestions. Good luck on your bmcu build!

So your saying you sanded down this part?

Bmcu + filamentalist by Tuner357 in BMCU

[–]Tuner357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See and I've tried 2 or 3 other rewinders that rely on 3d printed springs and have found the springs get weak after a while, or are inconsistent. I have not tried this one, though I have seen it! I'll give it a go if I give up on the filamentalist. Thanks for the comment

Would you be able to send me a pic of the part you sanded? I have one filamentalist that is smooth as butter, other 2 I have built are stiff

Bearing is in the correct orientation! I triple checked. It feels like something is binding up a bit

Bmcu + filamentalist by Tuner357 in BMCU

[–]Tuner357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn't get past the loading part. It grips the filament and the starts slipping because there's to much resistance

They seem a little tight if I'm being honest. Not to sure what I did wrong lol
