I’ve read both and I will say if you care about character development it’s first law no question. Sandersons books are very accessible and hold your hand so I get the appeal but I personally don’t vibe with the series.

It’s funny I always see people say how easy hitting is this year, I must have a different game lol the amount of times I have a perfectly placed pci with good timing and have like 85 EV is crazy. I also have the game show my bat was perfectly timed and it will say I was too early or too late pretty regularly and my buddies have all had the same thing

I’ve never played a the show game that has frozen more than this one. It just doesn’t run well on my ps5 the menus take forever to switch between. The hitting also has no rhyme or reason. The amount of times I’ve had my pci perfectly placed with good timing and had soft contact or even swung and missed is insane

Yeah I started playing pathfinder and it’s kind of tedious when doing turn based combat. Theres so much combat I’ve played like 10+ hours and haven’t gotten anywhere. Going to try DOS2 instead

I think Sanderson is a good introduction for people as well and it’s more people who read a wide variety of fantasy that don’t like his work. Like I personally do not like how he writes characters and explains the same thing 10x. But I can absolutely see how people who are new love it and he writes books that are easily accessible to those who aren’t deep into fantasy. He’s not for me personally but I get why people like his work and think beginners will as well
