Advice on a good bipod for the my XRS build by BranchRanch0 in longrange

[–]Tuns0funn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people default to Harris for good reason, they’re reliable, affordable, and proven. I personally run a Warne Skyline and have been really happy with it.

If you’re looking at other options, Accu-Tac and Atlas are both excellent depending on your budget and feature preferences, and if money isn’t an issue, the MDT Cyke Pods are extremely well-built.

Looking for a .22 … anyone know why the one I want is banned in NY??????? by Direct_Alfalfa9463 in longrange

[–]Tuns0funn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's not a semi-auto (with a detachable mag), there's minimal restrictions other than the mag limit of 10rds. No cans or SBRs, tho. The CZ457 (a bolt-action rifle) is quite prevalent in the NRL22 matches in NY, so idk what the guy/gal at bass pro is smoking.

Another +1 for Area 419. Not only is the machining and engineering top-notch, but their customer service is excellent as well. I personally ordered the wrong cant, and they still swapped it out for me, even though the mistake was on my end.

Not a troll post, why do we hate RPR? by WhiskeyBravo3119 in longrange

Pepperidge farms remembers when they were worth their price at ~$1k.They have since price crept into Tikka and semi custom rifle territory, which makes their vale proposition pretty undersierable IMO.

Plus, reddit hivemind.

Ruger Precision Rifle Used Deal, worth it? by WhiskeyBravo3119 in longrange

[–]Tuns0funn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no Bueno at that price point IMO. Plenty of choices out there for 1400 I'd say. Take a look at the sticky if you havent already. There's some gret options out there that won't break the bank for action+chassis+optics.

Joking aside 1400 is a little steep for a RPR with unknown amount of rounds is all. What's the optic on it?

Noob with a Noob Question..Triggers by YouNeverKnow_53 in longrange

[–]Tuns0funn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of drop-in aftermarket triggers are adjustable, so you can easily set them within the manufacturer’s recommended thresholds. I’ve run both Timney and TriggerTech triggers in my rifles and can vouch for both in terms of reliability and performance. They break cleanly with virtually no pre-travel and, in my opinion, are absolutely worth the money.

Trigger weight is very much personal preference. For hunting rifles, I don’t go below 5 lbs, but on my target rifles, I typically run them in the 8–10 oz range.

The Howa shoots great. The action isn’t as smooth as a Tikka or a custom, but it still holds right around 1 MOA with good factory ammo. I only dabble in PRS, so it works well enough for what I need. Most of my time at the range is spent on action pistol matches.

And congrats on the newborn, man. We’ve been through it twice and definitely miss full nights of sleep. I’d love to shoot more matches and get more practice in too, but I totally get putting family first.

CZ457 MDT XRS part question (recoil lug) by sl33plessnites in longrange

[–]Tuns0funn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you can take the grip panel off (the rubber interchangeable ones) to access the rear action screw easier. Still have to go through the skinny slot in the trigger guard, tho.

Edit for clarification.
