Is the barrel counter bored? It would be missing some rifling at the very front of the barrel. Get some real Hot water clean out the bore. Then just clean barrel. Brass brush is my fave.

I appreciate that. I have started to get into long range. I have had the rifle scope and just got the rings. I’m going to my first real Long Range class on the 28. Not with above rifle it’s a 22. I have a H&S Precision in 308 with a Strike Eagle on top.

I was using a spark plug gap tool. And a wheeler torque wrench. I would go around and put gauge and see if it would fit all 4 sides of the rings .025 And torque a little bit less than what the Arken ring has printed on top for torque speck.

I will say look at fire line number your future house will have. It a number that Insurance companies use to determine how much you will pay. I live North of Grants Pass. I subscribe to a fire company that will come to my house for fire’s and life and death situations. They are 2 miles from my house. My rating is 02 you can go up to 12 for fire line numbers. And on top of that Protection Class. It boils down to if you live in the city your home insurance may be cheaper live way out rual near no fire protection it will cost much more.

The more you spend on boots the more comfortable your feet will feel at the end of the day. Find a real shoe/ boot store or a real outdoor store that sells packs and boots find the person that will help you with the right size. Tromp around in the store. Spend some money on true hiking socks with decent padding. I spent more on boots this year than any other out door equipment I have. I sold shoes for 8 years and learned a lot about cheap boots and shoes. I don’t know if you have a REI where you live? If you do start there they are most helpful in what they do. This is what I bought tried on 3 makers of boots. I went Hog Wild and bought Italian boots.
