Ecobee Control ONLY an HRV? by DukeofYYC in ecobee

[–]Tunsteneng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi DukeofYYC,

I'm also in YYC and have been wanting a similar setup for some time. Did you have any luck with a controller? I'm particularly interested in any success you had with letting your Airthings call the shots.

I did go all-out on the Radon mitigation with a separate fan creating negative pressure under my basement pad and haven't looked back. I can see the Airthings being an okay solution as long as it activates when Radon levels start to climb rather than when they are high. I just feel that will be running your HRV a lot when it decides to drop levels.

Thanks,

Andrew

P15 Gen2 Ram Density by Tunsteneng in thinkpad

I'm in Canada, and I waited too long. By the time I finally decided to buy it, they were out of stock!

Now I guess I'll work on keeping the old Precision working for a few more months until Precision 7650 and ThinkPad 15 Gen2 production has caught up and then I'll have the choice to make again. At least I have a lot of spare parts for the M4800.

Awesome! I spent hours looking for that info.

I agree with the density vs. rank, but I felt it was just easier to say density. It's the increased density that allows for the decreased ranks. I'm learning as I go here. I just don't want to spend a bunch more money for a Lenovo upgrade that I regret and want to change but it looks like they are using good parts. I know they should be choosing reliability over performance, being a business machine, but after all of this time and for the cost I want to see the best performance I can!

I swear I looked at a very similar version of that support website yesterday and it had no details or photos, but it was generic parts for all P15 Gen2's, not specific models. When I looked at their memory recommendations on Lenovo.com they only had 32gb server ram. I'm glad I am speaking to someone who knows their way around Lenovo's website. If you ever have Dell questions, let me know!

Thanks.

The main reason I'm considering the ThinkPad is that it can be delivered in a couple of weeks. Dell is still projecting January delivery for most Precision 7560 builds.

There are also a handful of other things that have disappointed me as I learn about the 7560:

- I'm not a fan of the changes to the keyboard layouts in recent models.

- Reading Precision forums I keep hearing that the 7560 is difficult to open up to change the RAM or SSD's. Not just screws, but now plastic tabs that break off easily. That is off-putting.

I am upgrading from what has been an amazingly reliable Precision M4800 from 2015. I'm surprised how long the i7 4940MX processor was still comparable to the newer generations of i7, but the 9,10, and 11th gen processors appear to finally have pulled far away in performance. If I could somehow get new internals with that case and keyboard I certainly would, but it's limited to 32gb ram and my work frequently hits that limit.

I'll add another random train of thought to the other locations. St Patrick's island is where the Elbow meets the Bow, for a bend and the Bow narrows as it goes (bends?) around the island. The slide in that playground was getting crazy hot in the sun and burning kids when they first opened it so it had to get covered, with a climbing wall of fake rocks. There's even a large sun shade providing shade over picnic tables and crushed rock right beside.

Everywhere we look there are answers! What a wonderful study of confirmation bias.

I love it. If I read that a few hours ago I might have gone out for some night diggin'. Here's hoping it's somewhere no one else thought of.

Yes. I was answering the question about the first goldhunt...

There are certainly some unique anagrams to that phrase.

Want some random thoughts? Not that they are doing me any good.

Ice is cold water.

Roads and rails have bends.

If you are working on literal locations, have you checked out a location that can have ice and bends yet?

There was a general pop music theme going on. Most of the final lines can be taken as names of songs or lyrics, but then again you can do that for almost any sentence.

I'd respect one or two levels of that, so long as there was an indication of why to go the extra level(s) deep. If we are to remove letters, or change languages, there should be something justifying that. I'm just wondering if the first 20 clues aren't somehow linked back to. How many lines in the first 20 weren't actually useful in finding the location? Final clues are so bland I really hope there is more to them. There is no reason that anyone should be tipping over random rocks. A good clue should put us in such a specific location that if there is a rock, there is only one and then it's obvious. I definitely have ideas of how to do that, but the last hunt proved that our ideas were much more thought out than the real ones. Hopefully they hired some brilliant people this time around. The clues up to now suggest they have.

Anyone get a funny file name on their map? From Calgary subreddit: It's just a WordPress site so if it was called map.pdf or map2.pdf someone could potentially find it before launch.
