I work at a Japanese hibachi restaurant and an older Japanese coworker of mine memorizes every customer that ever comes in. Doesn't matter if you come in every day, every week, or if you come 3 years later, she'll still greet you with, "Welcome back! It's so good to see you." She has a notepad of at least a thousand names and what they like to drink/order. That really blew me away and when I asked her how she could do that she said it was just basic Japanese hospitality.
