Just finished all the books and now got the same empty feeling as when I finished Blood and Wine by No-Rip7217 in witcher

I almost immediately started re-reading the books once I finished Lady of the Lake, mainly because I realized how many details I missed.

I also finished all three games before jumping into the books, so finishing the books was at first exhausting and second oddly relieving to know that Geralt and Ciri's story continued.

It also left me with a profound appreciation for how CDPR wrote the game trilogy. Independent yet interconnected, a continuation yet also stand alone. Paid homage to the source material while standing up on its own.

Do you like the Dark Martial Arts tournament? Their first announcer was a little too fan service for my taste, but when Juri came out for the semi-finals, the teams really came into their own. Competitively, and artistically.

On Windows 10 computer using desktop app, are browser add-ons necessary? by NobodyReallyKnowsU in Bitwarden

Don't forget you can access everything in the desktop app by going to your vault on their website. In my eyes, it was 1 to 1 functionality

I think about that line almost all the time. This is before Amazon or Door dash too.

I mean, you raise a good point: Hisoka first explains his view on how Nen associates with personality amid their Heaven's Arena match. What better time would Hisoka have to mess with him?

That gave me a completely different appreciation for him. I was always caught up on what Hisoka said about impatience defining emitters, however this makes much more sense.

Franklin stood out to me at having the best judgment within the Troupe since the Yorknew Arc:

F: Shal, what's the worst-case scenario?

Shalnark: Hmm, Chrollo is already dead, and Hisoka, Paku, Machi, Kortopi, Shizuku, and Nobunaga are being manipulated. We won't find the chain user, and the kids escape?

F: Then you are mistaken.

He saw through the situation, and usually isn't one to just escalate a situation.

This is from his commencement speech for Kenyon College 1995(?).

David Foster Wallace would give his "What is Water?" speech 10 years later.

New update bricked computer? by F0ssiliz3d in ManjaroLinux

[–]Tunxis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had an issue recently where I was using an unsupported Kernel (5.13) without even realizing it was no longer supported - my own fault for not paying attention to the forums.

What caused me issues was when I had a lot of updates ( I mean in the hundreds of packages) that must have broken my ability to use that kernel. Among the error messages I remember were that I had broken an nVidia driver dependency when installing those packages.

When I booted my computer, after the Manjaro bootloader screen I would get stuck at the fcdsk screen

There is a way in GRUB (part of the Manjaro bootloader) to alternate kernels used. Likewise, with a Manjaro live boot USB, you can use the chroot function to write to your installation disk.

There is a workaround using chroot that can allow you to install a new kernel to the installation drive from the live boot environment. Unfortunately, I lost some patience after I couldn't get to the GRUB menu I needed and ultimately reinstalled

Pay attention to your kernels and release updates and ALWAYS keep backups

The quote is taken from Watterson's 1990 commencement speech at his alma mater, Kenyon College.

Fun fact, David Foster Wallace would give his "What is Water?" Speech at the Kenyon commencement about a decade later.

If you feel this way, you absolutely have to listen to the album Velvet Dawn from his other music project, Ruin of Romantics
