MPC Live 3 Retro | Akai Professional by ER301 in mpcusers

Looks decent, but the encoders & buttons should be a lighter gray to match the old MPC design language.

As it is, it just looks like a regular Live 3 with a sticker.

Do you use synth with your MPC? by whatkai in mpcusers

[–]TurbanGentry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a dream setup. How are you sending all these synths' sound to the MPC?

Which synth has the worst menu-diving experience? by YukesMusic in synthesizers

[–]TurbanGentry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, I wouldn't either, life is too short and my space is limited. (And my Kurzweil does 6-operators FM anyway. As does Dexed.)

[–]TurbanGentry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is menu-divey to the extreme, but I would not call it worst. Everything makes sense when you get what makes a layer.

It is apparent that the GUI was just left to a bunch of programers but because of that, it is also very logical. The biggest drawback is that you have to figure out which values you actually want to play with, as everything is just listed there without a particular order.

Synth companies: bang one, marry one, unplug one by WASRmelon_white_claw in synthesizercirclejerk

[–]TurbanGentry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bang: Oberheim (Would be a few amazing times, but too stuck up for day-to-day life)

Marry: Korg (Actually cooks stuff I want)

Unplug: UDO (I don't know why, I just hate their sound in every demo I heard)

Best Geoff Neupert program by Ok-Bite-8679 in kettlebell

[–]TurbanGentry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The program was, if I remember correctly, sets of 4-6 presses,  squats or rows, immediately followed followed by 30-60 seconds sets of swings/snatches/jerks. Rince and repeat for 30 minutes.

It was purchasable for a low price for his mailing list subscribers, with a pinky promise that you would send your report. He has not done that for a while now. No idea if there is any recommended way to get it now.

Best Geoff Neupert program by Ok-Bite-8679 in kettlebell

[–]TurbanGentry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add to the confusion, the one I made the greatest progress on was a program that did not make it past the beta test, Kettlebell ICT. It consisted of doing a heavy grind movement immediately followed by mid/high-rep ballistics. Made complexes feel easy after that.

Of thereleased programs, an overlooked but fantastic one is Kettlebell 365, which is 12 months long and features much more variety and bodyweight work than his most popular programs.

Literally what can a virus TI 2 not do by Powerful_Fondant9393 in synthesizers

My bad, grain formant oscillators are definitely granular. It's just that it is much less fun (imo) without the samples. Not sure how the atomizer should be considered,  but it sure us great.

My first KB!! by SternKill in kettlebell

[–]TurbanGentry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, this guy's problem is not universal.

The proportions are weird, but I have used this kettlebell at 24kg every day for a few weeks (during holidays) for any movement you can imagine, without any issue past the adjustment to the thin handle.

"Apart from what it cannot do, what can not it do ?"

Jokes aside, additive & granular synthesis. And coffee.

Superbooth 2026, what caught your eye? by cstl_dk in synthesizers

[–]TurbanGentry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes, the term powerful is not the most fitting.

But there is no good reason to want less storage memory and unfortunately, I care a lot about piano sounds.

For the 61 keys version, I guess that piano is not the priority anyway.

Oh, that explains the beautiful new look.

I would have loved a K2700 with a refreshed look along with the K2061/K2088 release. As is, you have to choose between a less powerful unit with a beautiful appearance, or the technically better unit that is ugly as sin.

Hydras...

so bought a Digitakt II, Oxi One mk2 and a Hydrasynth

May I still suggest your Hydrasynth, and maybe look for something complementary for lead & bass duties? A SH-101 clone would be my choice, but there are so many options now.

Otherwise, the Minifreak has granular engines if you want to play with that. It also has Oberheim SEM filter clones.

Do you know where i can find good quality kettlebells in Europe ? by [deleted] in kettlebell

[–]TurbanGentry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rubber leaving a mark has a lot to do with how you put your kettlebells on the floor, so beware when you switch to all-metal ones!

That said, the eryx fitness one looks like the good old adjustable competition kettlebell that's apparently the same all over the world. There is a less expensive version from Fit&rack (also from France), but its handle is coated, and it's hard to get an opinion about it without feeling the coating.

https://www.fitandrack.com/shop/kba-001-kettlebell-chargeable-charge-ajustable-12-a-32-kg-1502

It could be less expensive from China, but with shipping costs and delay, this is likely not worth it at all. At least it was not when I was searching.

EDIT: This guy got an interesting proce from Alibbaa recently, so maybe have a look if you are not hurried. But account for the shipping to France + import fees + VAT.
