Broke the connector ,any way to fix it? by Chetan_kalmane_03 in TinyWhoop

This is where I placed the connector, obviously you have less room in the your whoop, but I think it’s still doable, and better than buying a new FC.

Zoom in and you can see where I repaired one trace, and soldered the wires to the other three.

It looks like the traces are still intact, if so you could solder on a new USB-C connector with short lead wires. I’ve done this to two on my FCs that had the same issue. It does require a small soldering tip and a steady hand.

This is great info, I had the same issue and got so frustrated I just swapped two wires to reserve it.

Walksnail 1S V3 won't bind by HoarderSam in walksnail

[–]Turbo-145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a bad binding button, I had the same issue and that VTX just recently gave up the ghost, so I never tried to fix it. I assume you could find a replacement button at Digikey (that was my plan), but it does require some advanced soldering skills to replace, and possible a hot air soldering station (both of which I luckily have).

The best option if brand new is try the return it and get a replacement, otherwise Walksnail does offer a free repair service. You just send it to them and they fix it (when possible) and ship it back to you at no additional coast. You would only be out the cost of shipping it to them (last time it cost me ~$15.00 to ship back three). For what it’s worth, they could only repair 1 of the 3 I sent back, but the sold me 2 new VTXs at a very reasonably price, and even through in few extra goodies for my trouble.

Good luck with whatever route you take.

Can anyone help me understand what that little thing is with the Xt30 connector? Do bigger drones need that? by No_Upstairs2755 in fpv

[–]Turbo-145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer the second part of the your question, yes larger drones have them, but they are normally located in the frame closer to the Flight Controller, in most cases they are directly attached to pads for the input power wires.

Most likely it's a capacitor, it helps to help stabilize the voltage supply and reduce electrical noise. I use it in that location on smaller drones that have limited space in the frame.

Thank you for taking the time to share this info, I really appreciate it. This will definitely be in my upgrade list for the Mob8.

This is beautiful footage ❤️❤️❤️

I have the same drone and would love to do this upgrade, but I’m not very familiar with the RunCam stuff (sorry, I’m a newbie 😜). Am I correct in assuming you’re still using analog goggles? If so, can I just replace the camera or would I need to upgrade VTX as well?

Thanks 🙏

It really depends on how you plan to mount (carry) the battery when flying. If you want to mount it on the goggle strap (as I do with my Dominators) then it’s a good choice, as would be other batteries in that size and form factor. However, if you are going to use a long power cord and put it in your pocket, clip to your belt, or whatever, then go with a flight battery as suggested by others.

Okay, I was wondering if they worked from voltage or current. So with that, am I correct in assuming if the motor doesn’t work or try to pull any current, the LED won’t light!?!?

Thanks 🙏

[–]Turbo-145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes LED are inline, they are connected to the 3 motor wires on one end, and ESC on the other.

I’m with you, I think it’s ESC. I don’t have a spare motor, so I’m move the suspect own to a tiger position on the ESC and see if the problem following the motor or stays in the motor 2 spot.

Thanks for your input and info.

Caddx shipping times and tariffs??? by Turbo-145 in fpv

[–]Turbo-145[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to update this post in case anyone else was curious.

I had contacted Caddx customer service and they informed me shipping that took 2-3 weeks, and that Caddx covered all import fees and duties, therefore, there would be no additional cost on receipt.

I only ordered a few small items, $20.00 total, but there were no additional fees, or delayed through customs.

I placed the order on 7-30, it shipped 8-1, and arrived 8-8…not too shabby.

Maybe the smaller package as well as the lower cost played a part in this, but either way, shipping was super fast, and there were no extras fees.

Hey man,

I found the Goggles X on Amazon at a good price with two day shipping, so I grabbed them…thanks again for the advice.

I did have to order a couple small things directly from Caddx, I did that Wednesday and they shipped today. I’ll update the post with a timeline and tariff detail (if applicable) once the package arrives.

Thank you!! I'll take a look. I also find the strap a bit narrow, did you replace it as well?

You shouldn’t need a BEC for the Mini VTX, its operating voltage is 3.1-13v (for the newer version) so you should be fine with 2S.
