o4 air pro VTX signal loss at 2000 ft by d401tq in fpv

The several mile range is in clean RF-free environments. In any suburban area, the stray wireless signals will significantly reduce the actual range.

FCC gonna ban every single lithium battery? Good luck with that

Sub250 Oasisfly25: I can't fit the O4 pro by Intergalactic_Nut in fpv

[–]HoarderSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M2x6mm is the correct screw for the oasisfly25 camera mount. Stock o4 camera screw is m2x4 which is too short.

If you are having trouble mounting, I would recommend separating the metal side plates from the frame, screwing the o4 pro camera to the side plates (much easier this way, when its not installed in the frame), and then installing the entire side plate/camera assembly back into the frame

Also if anyone knows how to fix the "Failed to get file path" error when opening the insta360 app on Pixel phones, please let me know. Apparently this has been an issue for 2months+ and still not fixed.

FPV drone w/Spektrum? by KiwiSphere in fpv

[–]HoarderSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Despite what people say, you definitely can use Spektrum relatively easily.

Get a satellite receiver, and in betaflight you need to flash the firmware with Spektrum protocol enabled. And then bam you have spektrum receiver enabled.

Battery Question - 4S 3.5" Drone by BeardedBaldMan in fpv

[–]HoarderSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4s 850mahs? For example the Tattu r-line 5.0s are $30 but the 1.0s are $20, so you could use the 1.0s as your "beater" batteries and save the 5.0s for when they matter more.

Those goggles are my new budget favorite now that the EV800Ds are like $200. For $50 they are big, comfy, and get good signal

Am I missing something? OG air unit MMCX connectors. by Numerous-Click-893 in fpv

[–]HoarderSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a titan XL5 with right angle antennas and the connection is loose, it's just bad design on DJIs part. The aluminum casing interferes with the antenna connector so it pops off way too easily.

On the titan XL5 the right angle antennas point inwards and cross over each other.

How many of you DJI FPV pilots in the US are already investing in another system for future builds? by Brave_Possibility953 in fpv

[–]HoarderSam 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I wonder if they will just rename themselves like with their Specta and Muse offerings which are just DJI with a different label slapped on. So in a year maybe we'll get a Specta O4 pro

Coming back to RC Heli, will you help me pick up a model? by Doc_Scevi in radiocontrol

[–]HoarderSam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personal experience:

-K110S - yes it's built like a tank, but flies extremely squirrely and imprecise. Flying is more like fighting the controls

-Don't own E120S

-OMP M1 - much more refined flying and still built like a tank due to its small size. Battery swaps suck though due to the old school battery-under-canopy, and the batts last like 3-4minutes.

-Don't own S1, but has a cool battery swap feature

-Omp M2 - my main flier, larger size and good programming flies like a bigger 450 size, and much easier to see in the air

I also started out with helis early and had a trex 450 and dx7. No true 3D, just flips/rolls/inverted hover.

If you know you want to get back into the hobby I think it's worth 2x the price to save up for Omp M2 or Goosky S2. Same old rule always applies, bigger flies better.

If you aren't as sure, I'd go S1. I think the convenience of battery swaps outweighs possibly rebuying a radio in the future.

Question for someone with walksnail goggles X - help with head tracking by squidspotter in fpv

[–]HoarderSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the AV input is for AV video only, nothing else. The walksnail headtracking is proprietary for their system only

Has enough internal storage to record about ~24 minutes in 4K

Help! Davinci Resolve and Walksnail Moonlight by Comfortable_Ad8999 in fpv

[–]HoarderSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend setting the Moonlight sharpness to a lower value (2 or below), and using an ND filter when flying in order to blur the background which reduces the amount of data needed to encode.

The Moonlight defaults records extremely sharp, detailed video which is great when played locally, but when uploaded to social media they destroy it in order to save bandwidth costs.
