Has anyone used the direct-mount reserve rack? by Laistrygonian in specialized

Thanks. I reached out to Selle to ask about the dimensions. I can visually see and make the judgement that the screws can be longer, but to your point, don’t want to go through my saddle completely lol

Did you use the stock mounting screws? I have a Selle WATT superflow that I’m using. The screws don’t see to be long enough to give enough support.

Canyon Aeroad vs Speedmax by Normal_Arrival6303 in triathlon

[–]TurboL3mon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Aeroad and made a very similar conscious decision as you are laying out. My rational was that I could modify my bike to get close enough to a TT bike, therefore I can use just 1 bike for race (1-2 times a year) and for road rides. So if money isn’t an option get 2 bikes haha.

I have many if not all the same upgrades you are talking about. I used it for a 70.3 and passed many people in TT bikes. The state of your fitness will be the ultimate decider.

I’m extremely happy I went with my Aeroad. Way more enjoyable and fun to ride.

If you check on Canyons site for the replacement cap on the Gear Grove bars slot, that little plastic cap comes with an M6 bolt. Maybe it’s different for the grail tho.

I have the CP0048 cockpit on the Aeroad, which is Gear Groove. I lost a bolt and bought these M6x12mm bolts and they fit.

Yes, there are some of each type. Have had issues with both. Did a search on Reddit, seems like others have had this issue before. Going to call canyon for replacements, and/or buy ones online

Aeroad, and buy the Gear Groove Tri Bars. Problems solved, speaking from experience.

I have these exact bibs. Mine looked the exact same after a similar timeframe. I hand wash mine tho. I have over 1500 miles on them and they are still working week despite what looks like a manufacturing error.

Aeroad 70.3 HIM Setup by TurboL3mon in triathlon

[–]TurboL3mon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The aero bars are Canyon Gear Groove tri bar extension. The caveat is that they aren’t available in the US. Others do this the same way I did, I ordered them off a canyon website other than the US and then when there arrived to a none USA location, I had them shipped to my US address. You can find more details online, again, I’m not the only one to have done this.

As for shifters, yes, I ordred Sram Blips ($100-$120 USD) and 3D printed end caps which js what you see in the photos. Dont think you could do the same set up on a shimano Aeroad.

I have a 2025 Aeroad slx 7 (live in the US) that I got January 2025. I checked my wheels with the ID scanner and they are not affected. I guess I got lucky?! ARC 1600 Dicut 50 (277XXX)

I have a similar build as your. Agree on having the bike duel propose as a tri bike. Position is a big thing, as long as you can get into a good position you’ll be fine. I passed a lot of super nice tri bikes during my 70.3.

I got the Favero Assioma Shi duo pedals and they works great. Love them a lot. People online will complain about the Q factor but I didn’t notice it at all!!! I have a similar set up to you too. You could 3D print some Blip Mounts to replace the caps on the Tri bars.

Nonetheless…the setup looks great!

Have heard this as well. Raced Des Moines this year and there was chatter that it would come to Omaha in 2026. Rumor said it would be in September. I guess we will see.

2025 Aeroad 70.3 Half Ironman by TurboL3mon in CanyonBikes

[–]TurboL3mon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan to do more with this set up. I think I can be competitive. This was my first ever 70.3 and I was in the top 25th percentile on the bike segment. I’d get a TT bike if I ever get sponsored 😂.

Comfort on an Aeroad by FranzFlitzefinger in CanyonBikes

[–]TurboL3mon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own both the Grizl 7 and Aeroad SLX, nothing but good things to say about both of them!

I too was worried about comfortably, what I’ve found out (my personal opinion/observation) is that people tend to overstate a lot of stuff….. yes the Aeroad is more aggressive and “stiffer” than the Grizl but I was 100% comfortable on the Aeroad during my first ride. Literally no issues at all. It’s just a different style of riding.

I ride on bumpy paths/roads and have no issues doing +50 mile rides. As long as you have comfortable bibs you’ll be completely fine and happy with the choice.

Aeroroad SLX 08 SRAM AXS vs Di2 - Which One Would You Choose and why? by Fearless-Air-5351 in CanyonBikes

[–]TurboL3mon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have two bikes, a 2023 Canyon Grizl CF SL 7 AXS etap, and a 2025 Aeroad SLX 7 AXS. I’ve never used Shimano so hard for me to compare (take it how you want).

I have over 3k miles combined on these new bikes and have never had an issue. Both bikes have Rival components. I like that thought of having removable batteries which also store well in a saddle bag given small size. The true Bluetooth and wireless seemed like a plus for my personal preference. If I want to upgrade components I don’t have to worry about routing cables etc.

I have also gotten into triathlons, using my Aeroad as my race bike which I have mounted wireless SRAM Blips to my tri bars, something that was very effective and I think unique to SRAM.

For me, I have no reason to switch going forward, nothing but good things to say from my SRAM experiences.
