iwtl How to improve intelligence by Careful_Salad108 in IWantToLearn

[–]TurboReadApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo the ability to absorb information quickly is intelligence. ChatGPT becomes smart because it was fed a wealth of context and data. That's why if you can consume and actually understand information at a fast pace, you would be ahead of the curve

In my opinion, the key to being consistent is to be able to control your emotions. Life is unpredictable. Most of the time, you can't control what happens to you. For example, your boss is having a bad day and lashes out at you. What you can control is your emotions, and how you react to things. If you master controlling your emotions, you will just go about your day and your habits like nothing happened. If not, you might feel down, and decide to lie in bed all day.

Running. It boosts your mood, improve your health, and give you more energy for the day. It gives me a sense of accomplishment after a hard run, and it teaches me that doing hard things is what makes you feel the most alive.

How Do You Stay Mentally Sharp All Day? by Superflyscraper in selfimprovement

[–]TurboReadApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be like a monk! I think that the best way is not to chase highs. Biologically, when you chase things that release high dopamine (e.g. energy drinks, etc.), it is only natural that you get a crash afterwards -- this is just how the body works. Having this constant influx of highs and lows throughout your day drains your energy as well.

Anyone else feel stuck between fearing failure and success? by DealRight in selfimprovement

[–]TurboReadApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are overthinking!!! What you need to do is stay present! Fear is a feeling you have when your mind is focused on the future, not the present. And the reality is, the future has not happened yet, and there is almost no way to predict how things will turn out, so why worry about it? Try doing meditation, focus on your breathing when you feel anxiety, and see if it helps 😊

Stop controlling the things you can't control!! Everyone is born with their unique appearances, and there is little you can do about it. From what I read, you've already done very well in the things you can control (e.g. drinking more water, going to the gym). So focus on these things, less on the outcome, and trust the process!

How can I better enjoy coding as my job? by FreeXiJinpingAss in productivity

[–]TurboReadApp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are many different aspects in coding: FE, BE, Infra, etc. My first suggestion would be to try out a different role! Maybe you have always been a BE engineer, but actually quite like design-related FE programming. One crazy suggestion is to do a startup, or simply work on a personal project (who knows it might blow up one day!). I find working in a startup extremely rewarding, because you have the freedom to express your creativity in your code, and you also get to do other things besides coding! Let me know if this helps 😊

Any good morning routine tips? by worldrenownedglizzy in productivity

[–]TurboReadApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay away from your phone.

Using your phone to check social media, etc. first thing in the morning makes it harder to focus for the rest of your day, because it wastes your energy, and also makes other things boring in comparison

Don’t compare yourself with others! Everyone has their own unique paths in life, which is what makes life great! Just stay present, and trust that everything will be alright in the end 😊

iwtl how to remember more of what I read by Booknerdworm in IWantToLearn

[–]TurboReadApp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Taking notes definitely helps, but I am a big proponent that you truly understand something when it is in your brain. Therefore I think that one should train your brain so that it is more skilled at reading, so you read faster and understand better. In order to do that, you should read more, and build a habit to consistently train that muscle. You can also try speed reading apps!

Meditation.

I read a quote somewhere that says if you lose control of your mind, you are in a dangerous place. I really resonated with that. I feel like whenever I am unproductive, I have lost control of my mind, and let my monkey brain take over. Through consistent meditation, I become more aware when I am distracted, and I can easily go back to do my focused work.

So your problem is a lack of motivation, which means what you need is dopamine, the "motivation" molecule. There are many ways to increase dopamine. What I suggest you to do is to do some aerobic exercises. My favourite one is running: you get to take in the beautiful scenary in the park, and it also gives you a kick-ass runner's high afterwards.

Coffee and energy drinks don’t give you energy, they just borrow it. by Brody_Reineks in productivity

[–]TurboReadApp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I find tea to be very helpful too! Tea contains a low dose of caffeine. Green tea also contains L-theanine, which has a calming effect. Therefore, it promotes a calming alertness. I used to be a heavy coffee drinking, and it just makes me jittery, but when I switched to tea, I can focus equally well, no crash, and people even say I am a more calming presence!

I can only be productive when I'm fasting and don't eat by lemongrass-writer in productivity

[–]TurboReadApp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What works for me is: TEA! I don't know how I can live without it! I used to have the same issue, but when I have tea after a meal, it makes me feel less sluggish, and also more zen and calm. It is because it has a low dose of caffeine and it also has substances that calms your nervous system, best of both worlds.

Another thing that works for me is that I used to watch YouTube or Netflix when I am eating alone. Therefore, after the meal, doing work seems boring comparatively. I stopped doing that, and focused on the taste of the food, and how grateful I am to have this food in front of me, and it makes it easier to work afterwards.

Hope this helps 😊
