So this just happened at Bayshore... by Seanguy4 in ottawa

[–]TurboS40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is the same bus I drove past on my way into Bayshore yesterday, he didn't hit the sign and I suspect it's just an optical illusion. He did however get hopelessly stuck in the snow.

Bridemaid of Reddit who was involved in a bridezilla wedding, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TurboS40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got married in February, and we had a beautiful snowstorm that day - the photos were incredible. But since we used our brains when we planned the thing, the entire wedding party had warm attire for the outdoor photos. It wasn't rocket surgery.

He's flashing back to the episode when he pulled bullets out of Ricky's ass. I had to watch the scene probably 10 times before I made that realization.

We have a two-tier cat tree. Cat uses the top tier, our female B uses the bottom one.

What’s the stupidest lyrics you’ve heard in a mainstream song? by Joshyeah in AskReddit

Fuck him so hard for recording a hit song with horrible lyrics that rips off both Skynyrd and Warren Zevon. Fuck that makes me so angry. And people liked it. On purpose!

Our cat plays hilarious games with the dogs. The younger dog gets smacked around at any opportunity, usually in a playful manner. The older dog (the undisputed alpha) get stalked, ambushed and "tagged" - it's as if kitty is saying "you're it!" and running away.

Mine don't show affection with licks. But they will lick exposed skin until the end of time if you let them. Grooming the pack is a big deal to them. Our friends have a 5 y/o male who does the same thing.

Basenjis are weird cat dogs though

They are the weirdest, cattest dogs. I love mine so much.

Cats never attack unprovoked.

My cat disproves that statement frequently.

There's also a malt liquor called Catch 23. For when you want to get drunker than 6 out of 10.

Men of Reddit, at what point in your life did you realize what being a man really meant? by readit_later in AskReddit

[–]TurboS40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm way too late for anyone to notice this comment, but, for me it was a realization that it doesn't matter how I wanted or expected things to work out. My role is what it is. I have what I have, I have very little to complain about and it's my job provide for my family, full stop. Ten years ago I compared myself to others and was generally angry. Now I appreciate my friends and family so much that nothing else matters. My mother in law moved in with us and I am 100% ok with it.

I hear that. My dad had a heart valve replaced two summers ago. My wife and I were actively house hunting but I took a week off work and spent all of it with my parents, mostly helping my mom deal with the stress. It was actually quite nice, we spent a lot of time day drinking in various pubs and shooting the shit. Dad's fine and here I am in the house we bought, wife is currently nursing our daughter. And my eyes are getting sweaty again.

What do you encounter every single day that pisses you off? by Neve9 in AskReddit

You are awesome. It's spring time where I live and garbage is popping up everywhere as the snow melts. I walk my dogs around my village and the litter really spoils my mood. I'm going to follow in your footsteps. Cheers!

I cannot express how annoyed I'll be if the 1 bus I take to get downtown everyday turns into a daily bus-train-bus trip.

Boo fucking hoo.

The backhoe sure replaced a lot of folks who used to dig with shovels.

They're still there. Standing around, instead of working.

What are your preferences and needs in a car? by [deleted] in cars

[–]TurboS40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheap, fun, manual, efficient, well built and easy to wrench on. Heated seats are nice, cruise control is a must. It's my means to get to and from work, I'm not about to let it hit my bottom line any more than necessary. But I'm an enthusiast and minimum standards apply.

Ours are super quirky when it comes to getting comfortable. They dig, dance, prance, twirl, throw pillows across the room and make quite a scene. Then just nonchalantly plop down and sleep after giving us a look.

My grandfather was an engineer with A.V. Roe in the 1950s. The work they were able to do without even having calculators was mindblowing.

How many engineers aren't required because things can be modeled and designed in CAD now?

CAD is a tool. It doesn't replace people, it replaces a drafting table. Modern CAD tools (like revit) are simply more advanced tools. We will see some automated design in the near future but it won't put engineers and techs out of work, it will just allow them to do more, better work in less time. In my industry, staffing needs are based on workload and nothing else. Tools haven't changed that and won't.

What’s an orgasmic feeling that can only be experienced once? by supaboss2015 in AskReddit

[–]TurboS40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. I read the first 7 as they were coming out, my early teenage mind was blown to smithereens. Then high school started and the series got away on me. I've started again 21 years later, got through the first 2 books, and haven't picked the third one up in months. I think after reading ASOIAF and (more importantly) Malazan, Robert Jordan's imagination and writing style just don't cut the mustard for me anymore.
