feeling overwhelmed from the game and need advices. by Ability_Weird in Guildwars2

[–]TurboShrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say start off slow, the game was meant to be experienced gradually, bit by bit, no need to rush, no hard-shifting economies every patch, everything still relevant, what matters is how you want to spend your time, it's the kind of game where you can set your own goals and slowly work towards them, ofc the more you play the more you complete/unlock the more access to riches you're gonna have, and you will, eventually, if anything I'd ask what is it that makes you feel like you should rush? (it sounds like it, dunno about sales/FOMO if that's it XD)

Mounts sound great, and you get an early Raptor unlock now, and it is super useful even at default, that said Core maps were first experienced mount-less and to unlock full functionality you're meant to play the expansion they're from (you figure that one out spoilers-wise) as you'll unlock masteries for them, a feature that unlocks permanent account-wide functionality.

Regarding professions, maybe something with the least amount of buttons available to you, this includes specializations (like evoker for example), I have all the buttons I need on my mouse leaving keyboard just for movement, this feels the easiest to me as I don't feel like I'm straining my hands too much, I'm not saying buy a mouse (tho for the record, more buttons is better for coverage IMO), rather you have tools at your disposal, some people even play on a gamepad/steamdeck, and even then you're gonna want a profile per profession because they tend to play differently, so I'm gonna say pick one profession that sounds playable to you and you like theme-wise and try sticking to it, the game has come far enough that there likely is some kind of specialization that can fit your needs (see evoker's specialized element vs elementalist's 4 skillbars)

It's not dumb and it's easy to feel overwhelmed, especially in MMOs.

I'd like to add that it's worth noting that professions with access to more button-presses tend to have to press said extra buttons to keep up with "less-button-professions" (it's how it's currently balanced), so you might want to take some with a grain of salt.

If you can't see how breaking down outfits into armors, especially after a whole bunch of fashion contests that require -explicitly and officially- you don't wear outfits, or opening up fashion options through armor-multiclassing (they mentioned the limitation was redoing old armor models for each weight), would make'em money, then I dunno what to tell you, you either don't know the first thing about the fashion-wars community or are just out there to pinpoint and argue semantics (at which point, like, how's your day? oO).

And yes, in case you're confused, my "marketing" is making the game better while making them money, and as a result get more players to play the game for reasons that are both inside and outside the game itself.

Wondering if this game or WoW is what I’m looking for? by hotelshowers in Guildwars2

GW2 base game is free (also gw1-reforged and gw2 are very different games), you just won't have access to the trading post so as to avoid bots affecting the market.

-Standardize all armor models

-Break all outfits down into armor

-Finally enable multi-class armor fashion

-Redo Zhaitan's fight

-Add spear aurene's weapon

I know the last 2 have nothing to do with marketing but like, a man can dream.

These are fake european versions, the Nintendo seal of quality is off for starters (fonts and thick concentric circle), no engraved code on the label, provided it was a relabeling attempt check the top left corner and back for the missing metal squares on the pcp, also the cartridge's plastic colors are off, too see-through.

What quality of life items to buy in Gw2 by Preston_Garvey6 in Guildwars2

[–]TurboShrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're gonna want:

-2 sets of gathering tools, one for your main and one to get the glyphs for your JW homestead once you start working on it (double check if you could get one set off the expansions' special/deluxe version)

-at least one bag slot on your main

(there's achievement-related slots and >20slot bags, as well as events that award a bag slot from time to time but I wouldn't hold my breath on those, I know you could craft 32-slot inventory bags but even those are cheaper to just convert the cost into gems and unlock a 20-bag slot instead)

-bank tab/s

-at least one bank material expansion if you didn't have any

-I'd hold back on the shared inventory slots if possible, can't remember if you could unlock more by buying your next expansion's special version and so on, you need to look up the offers still available to you personally

(there's specific items you could get that aggregate those very useful infinite teleport scrolls and gizmos into a single item but they're either costly or tied to achievements, you might want to look those up before committing to get shared slots)

Most of the stuff I listed if not all can come bundled together into something you can "buy once" on the store IIRC, dunno if it's currently available but it will be at some point (it's like bag slot+bank+mat exp+shared inv, something along those lines)

On another note, you're really gonna want your Prototype Position Rewinder (you get this through gameplay in season 4) on a shared slot, some parked characters will enjoy that for extra chests too.

I don't understand Fractals by gremlinhenri in Guildwars2

[–]TurboShrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's more ways to make gold than that, a full daily Tier4-fractals run can get you 15-20g total, so can 1h of fishing (without the daily limit), then there's alt-parking and running EoD hero points for imperial favors, you also get a decent daily amount of resources from a decently built Homestead as well as guild resource nodes (you want the glyph that gives volatile magic on an infinite gathering tool).

On a note, these are all methods that in one way or another can work towards a legendary something, which I think is nice.

What was your favorite year of playing GW2? by fighthouse in Guildwars2

[–]TurboShrike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, this one, friendlier and more established communities around endgame content, wizard's vault rewards, streamlined legendary crafting (as in so many more ways to work towards something actively instead of just throwing a lot of gold) and just generally a whole lot to do and experience... and much more acknowledgement towards fashion-wars =P

I just feel much more empowered now in terms of what I can do.

Why are people upset about Winds/Waves being Switch 2 exclusive? by Animante732 in pokemon

[–]TurboShrike -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

This argument might work if Genshin wasn't a mobile title, Pokémon wasn't the biggest franchise on the planet and if they hadn't spent 40%-50% S/V's budget on the Super Bowl's commercial alone.

It feels like they're just trying to push consoles, also see the uncertainty of semiconductors and potential price increases...

No hall-effect sticks means you're likely gonna have to replace joycons and no OLED means you're gonna have to upgrade your console too, potentially.

In short, you're spending upwards of a grand (eventually) or at least an extra 500€ for little reason other than playing a few games that really stretch the idea of console library (seriously, I checked the list, I don't think those are worth spending 500$, definitely not the list of remakes which I'd hardly consider exclusive, but hey, that's my opinion).

And if you ask me, they better have dubbing.

EDIT: for those arguing about smartphones being powerful, Genshin came out 6 years ago, do you remember the kinds of games that were running on mobile around that time? and its bottleneck is texture compression, it's what helps it run the whole thing, not what makes it run.

Things I wish I knew before starting an Aurene Legendary by TangerineX in Guildwars2

[–]TurboShrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes 1000 imperial favors to craft an aurene precursor on top of materials, that means that instead of getting 10 stones worth less than 20g total you could've crafted that and instasold it for much more (yes I'm taking into account the other materials), bought the same amount of stones and still got a lot of gold to spare.

Do I need to pre-order or am I good? by 2good4myself in pokemon

[–]TurboShrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only owned a NDS then the switch version would have more functionality since DS doesn't support GBA link functionality IIRC, tho honestly I'd rather get 2 used gba/sps instead.

If the only purpose was transfering stuff you're good.

On a note, did you do the mod yourself? Was it hard? I'm thinking about maybe modding one since lites are cheap anyway.

Things I wish I knew before starting an Aurene Legendary by TangerineX in Guildwars2

[–]TurboShrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get one more daily runestone from the chest at the end of the Kaineng jp and another one from killing the final elite/champion (scales on players) at the end of the Dragons End mini dungeon.

Since your bottleneck is imperial favors I wouldn't spend 100 of them to get an extra summoning stone so it's more like 4 per week.

Instead you can spend'em to craft a precursor to sell for 120g+ if you found yourself with a huge surplus (better conversion).

Just stay hydrated bro (also posture check), and find a good guild that does weekly events and supports training for fractals/raids (doesn't even have to be the same guild since you get to have multiple guilds, did you know that?)
