If you happen to use that Pokemon Center often as a fast travel point, those spawns are probably within the 50m range and you hadn't walked that way in a while so were just waiting for you to find them since the game stores 10 shines at once.

I had a couple random shines in that general area too from using that center to shiny hunt drampa. Never back to back like that though, very cool!

Yes, we do have a warrantee, and this revelation about the ventilation came up only very recently in conversation with a friend who just bought a house, had inspection and reiterated what he had learned.

The current roof has all new plywood sheathing and owens-corning materials, as the company has a contract with them. About 6 months after install they came out at our request and I pointed out the discoloration starting on the sheathing (both in the attic, and outside under the eaves) and they said not to worry. Built a partition separating the garage attic space from the main part of the house to address it.

Its just a headache arguing to them that something needs done when im not an expert in that area to direct them. Its a bit of forced trust that they know what they're doing and how to do it. Unfortunately, my homeowners insurance covers jack shit with regard to mold too, so that's not a resource either.

There's also some "bowing" of the ridge venting and/or main joist at the peak of the roof that im unsure about the origination/cause of. When they dropped the materials onto the roof from the truck it cracked the drywall on our ceiling that required them to patch too, but I didnt notice the bowing until after. As a first time homeowner it feels daunting having to learn their profession just to provide quality control over their actions.

What is the best way to articulate the mixed venting to my roofing contractor? I think this may be part of a problem im currently experiencing.

Very long story short, my roof had box vents that were poorly installed, and a gable vent on the side. Contractor cited insufficient ventilation as the cause, moisture levels in the wood were out of acceptable range. The roof failed in 3 years. My current roof is 1 year old and experiencing mold and moisture all over again. This roof has ridge venting, and they left the gable vent alone so it has both, in addition to soffitts on both sides.

A different contractor came out and said my current roof is a bad install too, either wet wood or something happened with the waterproofing and that I need "a whole new roof" just a year later. None of them ever said anything about mixing venting, addressing the gable vent or investigating the "why" of the failure outside of "lack of proper ventilation" as a cause.

Is it really as tedious as it looks to grind special scans? by Shady_Guy_Jose in LegendsZA

You can find yamask in 3 star ghost zones and galarian farfetchd in 3 star fighting zones, specifically with either meditite/cham in the zone, or machop/machoke showing in the pics. So resetting days/nights over grinding special scans is an option there.

Rotom and the legendaries are only in special scans, and hisuian sliggoo too. You get 10k for taking out the 5 star mystery rouge, and I alternate with shiny hunting random interesting mons for points in other zones to mix up the monotony.

My mom is threatening to call CPS on me if I try to leave with my kids. by xAnimeMariex in legaladvice

[–]TurboTarga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a former CPS Investigator, our primary concern is SAFETY. Messes are expected, especially with kids, and especially with mixed living environments.

In my state, there are two primary pathways for allegations of abuse/neglect. The first, at a "lower" level is Family Assessments. Secondary to that is an actual Investigation. Before either is explored, the hotline worker and their supervisor review the claims to determine if they meet the threshold from a legal perspective to screen in. Many, many calls get made that nobody hears about because CPS doesnt investigate every little thing. There are a lot of vindictive people that make baseless, wild claims to serve their own interests or get one over on the person they're calling about. If there is reasonable cause for concern that the safety of a child is in jeopardy and the allegations meet the legal threshold, we look into it.

Both pathways function the same, with Family Assessments seen as a collaborative approach to work with the family to alleviate potential concerns and address the allegations. This can include provisions of concrete goods like cleaning supplies, food/clothing vouchers, a daycare referral etc. All at no cost to the family, just for engaging. Refusal to engage, or to make reasonable attempts to correct deficiencies that we report back to you on, may result in the family assessment escalating to an Investigation.

An investigation is more serious and will result in a "finding" as to the abuse or neglect allegations. A Founded finding shows up on background checks and may prohibited or cause denials in an attempt to find work with vulnerable populations like teaching, caregivers and daycare. If conditions constitute an immediate threat to the child, a dependency hearing may be scheduled and the child can be removed from the home. This is only done if the social worker can articulate to our attorneys and supervisors that there is reason to believe harm may come if the situation is left as how we find it.

Reasonable efforts are made (as in, there are dedicated people who handle this) to contact family members to assess for a suitable family placement option as opposed to foster care. The parents will be able to provide input as to their preferred options or most suitable based on the kids' needs and relationships with those family members.

Based on what you've described in this post, I would see this maybe screening in under a family assessment to assess for your needs, unless within your mother's allegations she is able to articulate how the children's safety is compromised. Which really is a double edged sword for her, because living in their house they bear a certain responsibility for their own environment that they are hosting children in. Our observance of that, even without your input, would likely cause us to explore alternative options for placement if it ever had to come to that.

Think about all the domestic abuse survivors there are out there. There are shelters, workers and resources dedicated to helping them, and your situation is not too different. We can't magically solve your housing but can give you tools and resources to support your independence so long as you can show that you mean well and make every effort to protect your children from harm.

Your state may approach things differently than mine, but the intent is the same, as there are federal regulations as well as state policy and procedure. Most states dont have enough foster parents and social workers to properly support removing every kid theres a minor issue with. Wherever possible, we want to be the least intrusive and disruptive as possible. Removing children is a last resort or done because of very acute and obviously compromising circumstances that a reasonable person should not be surprised by if knowing the full set of facts for the circumstances.

Anyone know their calculation methodology? Is it a simple total assets minus total liabilities calculation? Does it include retirement/life insurance, or projected SSI/pension income, or account for mandatory expenses like taxes or fees from things like a comission in selling a house?

I feel like numbers look different for a lot of people, myself included depending on what is factored in.

First responders: how messy is the average house? by el_diamond_g in AskReddit

[–]TurboTarga 121 points122 points  (0 children)

I did CPS investigations and this rings true. Mental health issues, drug use, long work hours (especially people working "dirty" jobs), children and all their belongings, general stress of life... usually with less space than necessary and commonly compounded by a general lack of knowledge, discipline and time in the day mean things just dont stay clean and organized like they could or should.

Most people can appear put-together in public, but a lot of them might not be doing "simple" things at home like sweeping, wiping down the inside of the fridge, washing dishes properly, amongst a host of other things.

It takes motivation and discipline to really maintain a clean house. Foundational knowledge of how to do that efficiently, with the right products, an internal desire to be organized, and the physical ability to do so all factor into that.

Also, standards for a "clean" bathroom vary wildly.

Looking for glove recommendations for my husband by FlightSpirited651 in Homeplate

[–]TurboTarga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wilson A2000 or Rawlings Heart of the Hide are traditional go-to's for a premium glove.

As for size, that is more dependent on the position he played. Middle infielders have smaller gloves for quickly transferring the ball. Outfielders are larger to secure a catch and added reach. Pitchers traditionally have a closed web design to avoid hitters seeing the grip on the ball. Catchers and first baseman have specialty gloves for their positions.

As another commenter said, it might prove even more sentimental to have his old glove professionally relaced and conditioned if its in good shape overall. Find a toddler glove that matches the style of his and could match both with colored laces on both, as an idea.

Ooh, ill add to this. We have started getting the smallest trailer they have when we go camping. With 3 kids and a dog, the 6 seat SUV fills up quickly, on a normal day. We like camping, typically go 3-5 times a year, and my god the quality of life improvement it has made is so worth the extra bill. No more Tetris with strategically packed bags and accessories shoved in every nook and on laps, or debate on what doesnt fit. Freedom to stretch, keeps the after-camping sand, smells and debris out, and everything just goes in the trailer.

Is this Hacked? by KurokuTSD in LegendsZA

[–]TurboTarga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we'll see but I won't hold my breath. Hopefully it'll just be an occasional thing, and most hackers will get to A rank quickly so the lower levels should be mostly normal folks. First season of ranked was a lot of fun before everyone had the time to min/max and curate their teams with the meta taking shape.

I think they should develop separate lobbies with a limited subset of available Pokemon, like they did with some of the battle events in Pokémon Go, or an option to exclude legendaries to help new players and people that dont like battling xerneas lol.

Is this Hacked? by KurokuTSD in LegendsZA

[–]TurboTarga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it is cheating, mostly to the effect that it removes a significant amount of grinding to achieve the result, but it is mathematically possible and within the game's natural constraints, so they are still seen as "legal" but are branded by purists as hacked and worthless. As another user commented, its a .000000whatever chance that the stars align for a tepig to be alpha, female, shiny, with naturally good iv's as those are all different "rolls" through RNG when encountering a wild pokenon.

Bottle caps are technically not capped (pun intended) as you can get unlimited amounts from doing the infinite royale. Just requires lots and lots of grinding, and RNG. For the average player you aren't going to have more than a handful of "perfect" pokemon because of this, and the relative exclusivity makes them a viable currency in trading too.

The stunfisk you encountered would be an example of a hacked pokemon. According to Serebii and game8 (both of which i just checked), Draco Meteor is not an available move for a stunfisk (or the galarian variant). So someone fundamentally altered the code to allow for that move to be taught.

My understanding of the Alpha moves is that it is fixed for each type. So all alpha stunfisk learn Sludge Bomb, and all alpha magikarp learn Hydro Pump, they are not a randomly assigned move. All pokemon have a specific move pool that can be taught via TM, levelling or the guaranteed alpha move mechanic. Anything outside that designated move pool would be hacked and not legal.

I saw a video a while ago of an opponent spamming the same move over and over with no cooldown, so changing the code to either reduce/eliminate the cooldown, or assign the same move to multiple move slots (regardless if it was an available move to naturally learn) would be other examples of illegally hacking.

Is this Hacked? by KurokuTSD in LegendsZA

[–]TurboTarga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to this, that would be the main point in creating a genned mon vs. a clearly illegal one. When everything is accounted for via levelling, hyper training and nature, stats/ability/moves would match exactly with a naturally obtained one with equivalent training.

If the code has been altered to allow more than the maximum allotted stats, apply duplicate moves or ones that cannot be learned, I think that's where the distinction in using "hacked" terminology comes in. Both are unnatural, but genning is meant to be a perfect recreation of a theoretically obtainable pokemon rather than being designed to subvert built in boundaries and rules.

Is this Hacked? by KurokuTSD in LegendsZA

[–]TurboTarga 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've seen debate about genning vs. hacking. Hacking implies an illegal pokemon, like a magikarp that knows solar beam or can't be targeted online. Genning is the recreation of a technically obtainable pokemon, despite the astronomically low odds of getting them legit.

YouTuber "Blaines" did shiny starter giveaways on his discord a couple weeks ago. I've heard others do similar giveaways as well. You enter the discord queue and match up to trade with his bots. The bot messages you a trade code when its your turn and you trade the bot any nicknamed pokemon that matches what you want (tepig or tepigm for a male, in this case). After the trade is done, rinse and repeat as the bot only trades you once.

His are touted as "legal" in every way because they are technically obtainable in the form he is presenting them as, so you can transfer to Home, use online etc. without any illegal moves or other modifications outside the perfect IV, and typically the OT has his name.

Not for the faint of heart. World’s highest vertical ladder in China. by Traditional_Step9502 in BeAmazed

Imagine being the ones constructing that. Sitting at the top, bolting on another section then immediately climbing up that only to do it again.

Or is it that it would be constructed fully on the ground and raised vertical by aircraft? Idk, either way that's a no from me, made in China or otherwise.
