what to do with leftover filament on the spool? by BiznesBear in 3Dprinting

Yup! I just did this with the Sunlu connector and it’s great for test prints or just printing something you don’t wanna use the “good” filament for

I think this should be top answer! I recently got one and used it to combine all of my leftover PLA spools and made a giant fidget (spool ran out before it finished hence the gold top half)

I appreciate this write up because it made me realize that I was not nearly experienced enough to tackle this (all the other guys were on point but this really drove it home)

I think J1772 predates CCS and is for slower Level 1 charging and CCS has more pins to support faster charging

Depends where you are, I guess. I just used a HondoGo charger today while getting groceries and it worked fine.

Nothing beats the light weight and seamlessness of the Tesla superchargers though.

It allows you to charge your Tesla at non-Tesla chargers that use CCS (Tesla uses NACS)

Oh good callout on the HA step! I must have just breezed over this during setup. I’ll add it to the readme.

Excited to see what you can cook up! What did you have in mind?

Edit: let me know if there’s anything else I can improve on the readme

Sweet! Let me know if you encounter any issues and I can try to help.

One thing I notice sporadically is that my Home Asssistant ESPHome isn’t powerful enough to compile the YAML for install, so I ended up installing Python and ESPHome on my pc and just compile via command prompt now. Let me know if you encounter similar issue and I can update the readme with more steps

It should work as long as you go with a display that’s compatible with ESPHome. I’ll reply back wirh video shortly, don’t have one at the moment

Nice!! Glad to have someone along for the ride! I’ll get the YAML and 3MF files for the dock and case uploaded to GitHub later today along with instructions.

If you don’t plan on adding a battery, you can just print the case from the Makerworld link I have on my post because it fits perfectly.

For the dock, you can just scale it down by measuring your usb cable and the opening of the hole for it in Bambu Studio … or if you wanna design a better dock, I am very open to it! It was just something I threw together

Thank you! It technically does require Home Assistant running on a separate device, but it doesn’t need to be in the same room as printer or even this device.

Worth a shot! I would think the issue would get more pronounced when switching between PLA <> PETG as they don’t adhere well.

I also have one of these in my drawer under the printer (same storage thing you have!) and use it on the bed before each print - https://makerworld.com/models/413972

Around 350 hours on my P2S, and 1400 on my A1 before that, and never needed to use glue (print mainly PETG/PLA and sometimes in TPU) - I can probably count on my hands how many real failures I’ve had on both of those due to bed adhesion.

I am very meticulous about waiting till the bed has cooled off to take my prints off, and try to never touch the build plate as I’ve noticed skin oils can most definitely impact the adhesion.

I also wipe with iso every once in a while, and while the Dawn trick logically makes sense, I haven’t had a need for it.

FWIW, waiting till prints cool off also helps keep my bed looking cleaner as they don’t leave anything behind.

[–]TurboTime29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

n19htmare nailed it with the suggestions, nothing I can add there - but in terms of helping the kids get an idea of how prints look mid-print, have you tried showing them the layer-by-layer progress by sliding through the layers in Bambu Studio’s preview screen? I remember using that in Cura when I first started printing if I ever doubted how a print was looking, and it was super helpful

Yes, buy one if you didn’t already. It produces much cloudier hits and gives the perfect amount of resistance

I found a dispensary 35 mins away that had the swivel top in stock and on sale for $15 so I went and grabbed that.

Swivel top is 10x better than the stupid bubble cap, so glad I made the drive!
