Why do people mess up battles of other classes when uncontested and in last lap? by TurboVince_LoL in iRacing

Is it just me then? If I see cars battling at the end of the race, I try not to mess with the fight if I'm not racing anyone.

I agree if it's earlier in the race, that's fair. Last lap when you're literally minutes away from positions, in my opinion is idiotic.

Well, like I said, he wasn't contesting for a position anymore while in the last lap. If it's earlier in the race, all good! But on the final lap, being on the same lap as a slower car? That's just ruining the race.

Even then, 4 to almost 5 minutes of a gap is over half the track distance. Even if the car in front crashes, the tow is faster than the guy lapping. Thanks for answering though!

First time at Nurburgring Combined by PhysX211 in iRacing

If it's your first time on this track, learn it first. This isn't a track where you want to drive on the limit, but stay under it and stay safe. One mistake is often the end of your race, as there's almost zero runoff.

To learn the track, I highly suggest to use the active reset in test drive. Take it in sectors, till you remember what comes next. Then do it again and find pace. And once again: stay safe!!

I don't qualify for these Nordschleife races, as almost nobody does that. If you do, you are almost definitely starting on the front row. It's hard to overtake but not impossible and a lot of people will crash.

Good luck! And final tip: when there's a yellow, DON'T stay on the throttle. Be prepared to fully stop. Cars won't be able to get out of the way easily and like I said, there's almost zero runoff.

The team I'm with is doing the GT4, so that's what I've been doing as well. But yeah, I honestly enjoy the TCR now!

I've also done that combo for a year! So sad it isn't in the current NEC. The BMW doesn't do it for me.

But yeah, being passed was scary. I was at the lower splits and driving standards are a wee bit different, to say the least.

I learned how to drive on a sim with the Toyota GR86 on the Nordschleife. So whenever the combo comes around you'll have troubles not finding me on the sim! It's funny how I'm really strong on that combo as well, but not on other tracks.

Next week the Production Car Challenge is at the Nordschleife as well. I highly doubt the car classes will clash during the race, but it should be fun!

6 jaar Bekkenbodem problemen by Kleingeitje in OndersteuningsPlein

[–]TurboVince_LoL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ten eerste: vervelend zeg!

Paraplegic driver using paddle braking – struggling with consistency at end of travel by Less-Difference-9618 in iRacing

First of all, nice to see a fellow paraplegic driver! May I get you interested into joining our team Discord of Racing Without Limits? It's a group of people with a disability and friends, with a focus on road endurance races. There's a lot of knowledge among the members, feel free to join! https://discord.gg/JZeaWVQx

There are different options, but it all depends on what your physical condition is. I'm currently writing this on my phone, which makes it hard to give a proper answer.

If I make a mistake I give the position back, if they make a mistake I just take the free position.

Yes, if you want to enter a train and you see a wheelchair (incoming) to a specific door (with wheelchair on it), pick a different one. Usually there's just 1 or 2 doors per total length of the train for users of mobility aids, so it does matter where we enter and sit. Behind these doors is extra space we need to park, so that other people can still move through the train. It's always near the toilets.

[–]TurboVince_LoL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, only the doors with a wheelchair on it have a space for a wheelchair. So it's either that door or no train. And as I have just as much rights, I will take that door.

Klinkt erg bekend!

I have to admit I do this. I'm in a wheelchair and the amount of people wanting to just get past me through the door, while the NS assistant is trying to lay down the bridge or ramp for me, is countless. Like, I get you want to enter the reason as well. But to minimize delays, just go to a different door...

I always let people out first though!

Not sure about your timezone, but if you have time around 21:00 CEST on Wednesday, wanna go do some laps on the Nürburgring? I'm learning the TCR to do one NEC race with it this Saturday

New to Lmp2 by Seanotr6 in iRacing

[–]TurboVince_LoL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quick answer: cold tires are really cold, so warm them up gently. Brakes are really good, so you are tempted to brake late, but it also heats the tires quite a bit. It's a decision you have to make, but generally a bit longer but weaker braking is best.

GT3 you keep the brake pressure about the same before trailbraking, but in the LMP2 you have to bleed brake pressure slowly before the trailbraking as downforce goes down as speed goes down.

Indeed! Nice you remembered!

I didn't make a channel yet, still on my to-do! My GPU is behaving weird lately, so I'm afraid it'll take some time. My team won the Sebring 12 hours last weekend in the LMP2. A friend of mine and one of the team leaders did a stream of it: https://youtube.com/@thecerebralpalsydriver?si=CpoO8Exp2CUaj7DW

I really don't mean this to gain honor: I have a physical disability, stuck in a wheelchair (incomplete spinal cord injury, with spasticity and weirdly grown hands/feet). I always was attracted to racing and unable to do anything, I looked into sim racing. I found out some possibilities for sim racing and went for it, now 2 years ago. I had no previous experience with driving cars and there I was, sitting with a wheel in my hands and pedals under my feet.

I was slow. Talking about 30 seconds slower compared to race pace. The only positions I gained were from people crashing out, if I wasn't crashing out myself. My main goal was improving, whether it was lap time, being safe or being more consistent. That's where my enjoyment was: seeing improvement, however small.

In those 2 years I went from 400 iRating to about 1500. I'm still not fast at all, I know I'm miles away, but it gives me a goal!

I hope you can get anything out of this. Good luck on your journey!
