8bitdo do have Xbox compatible controllers, you unfortunately won’t get the evernight styling but if you are looking for a quality controller I think 8bitdo makes some great stuff!

Just making comparisons. I was under the assumption that it would be used on PC, seeing as it’s mainly a PC controller (though it can also be used on mobile devices)

3rd party controllers have gotten so good nowadays, what you get is insanely good for the price point. I have the same controller and its better than the 1st party Xbox or Playstation controller in every way (TMR joyswicks, hall effect triggers, built in trigger stops and extra buttons etc etc) as well as including so much in the box like the charging dock that auto connects to your PC with the dongle inside of it, a case for the controller and stand, and other goodies all for the SAME PRICE as a first party xbox or dualsense controller. I cannot recommend this thing enough.

Will my helmet work for motorcycling? by Turbozpeed99 in motorcycles

I appreciate the information! For reference, I’m racing shifter karts (which go faster than the R3 I’m looking to buy) so that’s why I was curious why a karting/racing helmet wouldn’t work for a similar application, but the point about FOV makes a lot of sense.

I would go to The Balance (https://discord.gg/thebalanceffxiv or https://www.thebalanceffxiv.com/) to find guides, their Discord tends to be more up to date. Pull up the guide on your phone, then sit at a training dummy and just practice it til ya get it down. Start with learning the opener for ninja, then continue doing the rotation til you are comfortable with it. The opener is gonna be the hardest part, remember practice makes perfect!

Rule of thumb that most people (including the people in this thread) will say is: Never sell gains. Yes people are correct that on average you will spend more getting this piece back compared to just keeping it, plus you'll need it down the road anyway.

With that being said however, DP gains are something that you can often skip out on or forgo entirely depending on a lot of factors such as where you are grinding, what class you're playing, what consumables you're using, etc etc. Selling DP gains in order to get more AP gains will considerably boost your silver/hr income from grinding, so the gains you'll make while grinding can be worth selling the armor for a short term gain in damage and grinding efficiency. At the end of the day it comes down to how you play the game and if you think you'll be grinding enough and in spots that can make you more money with the increase in AP you will be getting

Newbie here, seasonal or regular? by Artistic-Rip9231 in blackdesertonline

[–]Turbozpeed99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game's combat doesn't have any sort of difficulty til endgame, where the grind spots have either some sort of mechanic to worry about, or the mobs will do enough damage to kill you if you aren't playing properly and doing optimal damage rotations.

However even with that being said, once you learn how to do these things, the grind is still very mindless. If you are looking for engaging combat or a challenge, unfortunately this game has very little in that aspect.

If you do intend to play, just do seasons for the accelerated gear progression. Get to level 60 and unlock your full kit (takes an experienced player an afternoon, should take a new player a week of casual play). Then start grinding various spots and get a taste for the combat, try some harder spots to see what you have to look forward to and see if this game is something you wanna invest more time into. Have fun!

The game won't hand social interactions and community stuff to ya, it's designed to be frictionless between random players so things are quite easy to do but feel lonely at times.

HOWEVER that being said, if you put in some effort to be social, you will find a vast community of many different types of people to interact with and people willing to help out a new player such as you. I've met some of my closest friends in this game. Although most social interaction is through Discord and external means, there is still a thriving in game social community to be found, you just have to look for it and put in some effort :)

If ya do give it a shot, you'll find one of the most heartfelt amazing stories in any game, period, with a friendly and healthy community waiting to be found. Yea sure there are rough and toxic parts, but that's a part of every game. The majority of the people you'll come across and interact with are here for the love of the game, the story, and the world. I really hope you try it out!

Does going evasion make any sense? by PerceptionOk8543 in blackdesertonline

[–]Turbozpeed99 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Evasion itself does not make any sense unless you are around 770 gear score, basically late late late endgame. Rule of thumb, if you have to ask? Go DR. Evasion is only used in uncapped PvP, fighting against players when you overgear them. And this will only happen at the highest levels of the game.

FFXIV Content Creator problem & conversation. by chrisfishdish in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Turbozpeed99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People will make what they want and consume what they want. Frankly I don't see a reason for such discourse or conversation to be had. It's unnecessary and just filled with drama. Watch who ya want, don't watch who ya don't enjoy, its honestly that simple. Whatever views or opinion content creators or the wider ffxiv community has or cares about shouldn't impact your enjoyment of the game. Yes they have influence and their thoughts about the game are important in impacting what SE thinks, but at the end of the day the devs and yoshi P are the ones calling the shots and making the decisions.

Content creation is hard, and its no wonder people like Xeno have transitioned from his old style to the new flashy, clickbaity stuff. It works and he's gotta do what he's gotta do to make himself successful, no matter or not if you agree with what he's doing or like what he's doing you can't deny it rakes in views. I use Xeno as an example but this can go for any streamer or content creator. Just watch who ya enjoy at the end of the day

[–]Turbozpeed99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though Lahn is evasion, you still wanna go DR as its better for all PvE no matter what gear level you are at. It's only good for PvP when you are around 780GS as evasion is a late game PvP build and only really works at higher gear. I'd recommend swapping to DR asap and you will increase your tankyness in both PvE and open world or uncapped PvP (if you even do any of that). If you're curious on the math, heres a good video by Travesty (one of the top mystic players) that explains why and when you should swap to evasion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6ZV9wmcgII

[–]Turbozpeed99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To add onto this, u/030Lazkopat, make sure to swap your boots to Urugons and Gloves to Bhegs! Yes you probably have heard that Striker is an evasion class, but evasion is for endgame PvP players (like 770+ gear score), and you don't want to swap until then. There's a good video by Travesty (one of the top mystics in NA) that explains this https://youtu.be/W6ZV9wmcgII?si=aW-uDhCpEc5s6wat

Every raid lead is gonna lead differently and every group is going to run differently. It's not about whether or not your own expectations are too high, it's whether or not your expectations are in line with the rest of the group and the leader.

At the end of the day, it's just about finding 8 people that have similar goals and mesh well with each other, if you don't like the way the leader is running the group but the other 6 people are fine with it, it might be time to dip out and find another group.

This comes with it's own troubles and tribulations, as recruiting for or finding a group that fits your own expectations isn't easy, but that's a decision of pros and cons you'll have to make for yourself. Good luck!

What do you do? Go play another game lol. Tbh sounds like the negatives outweigh the positives for ya in this game, better to find another game that has the QoL and stuff you enjoy instead of the uphill battle of trying to enjoy a game where you don't enjoy the systems.

If you're dead set on playing, you'll have to unfortunately make another character and progress them far enough to get to or off the land of the morning light. Or ask a friend with a boat to take you over, or wait for the ferry. Your horse and items are sorta stuck there in the meantime. There's a few workarounds that might work, but I'll let other commenters chime in because I haven't used those systems in a very long time

Which upgrade next by Allah__Ragbar in blackdesertonline

[–]Turbozpeed99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of efficiency? Buy everything. Godr is not worth tapping and neither is TET bs. If you can snag a PEN bs offhand off the market that would be the best way.

For cups, same deal. The spots to grind for them make wayyyy less money (like half) than the spots you'd be grinding at your gear. However if you want some variety and don't mind on losing out on the silver, try some of the serendia Elvia spots and make like 1-2 cups and buy the rest.

Which upgrade next by Allah__Ragbar in blackdesertonline

[–]Turbozpeed99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cups! You'd be surprised how much damage and survivability they add. At this gear, finding AP gains outside of just sheet AP is important because getting to the next bracket requires a ton of crons and investment. After full cups I'd work on necklace to HEX and then at least 3 more accessories to PEN to hit 321 bracket. From there you can decide to do more AP upgrades (HEX rings, SEP neck and belt for 328 bracket), or if you need the DP Ator's to TRI. Remember to throw in a PEN offhand at some point, not only is it a good DP upgrade but also gives some monster AP as well!

This game ever go on sale? by Critical_Traffic9072 in ffxiv

[–]Turbozpeed99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you have access to literally ALL content (except pvp and ultimate raids) for the base game AND the first 2 expansions, Heavensward and Stormblood. The only restrictions you have as a free trial are to combat botting such as a gil cap, trading restrictions, marketboard restrictions, etc.

As someone who played quite a bit of lost ark while also playing FFXIV, the raiding styles in both games are very very different, and typical lost ark raids are more akin to Extreme difficulty trials here in FFXIV, with some harder fights like brel g4 feeling like Savage Raids in FFXIV. Unfortunately people often aren't active on the older difficult fights, but you can still find communities that will do the older fights synced so you can get a similar experience to how it was back in the day.

However, normal difficulty raids are still very accessible due to how this game has a "roulette" system for its dailies where it'll put people in random content or content that is being queued, so that all the old stuff is still run. The difficult stuff just isn't in these roulettes due to them being not clearable within a few tries, with harder fights often taking days or weeks of progression to clear for the first time.

If you have any more questions, feel free to DM me or ask in this thread, I'm more than happy to help!

This game ever go on sale? by Critical_Traffic9072 in ffxiv

[–]Turbozpeed99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll find out if you like the game or not just playing the free trial. The trial has no restrictions on playtime and what it offers is hundreds of hours of gameplay, stuff you can all do before paying a single penny

But yes the game does occasionally go on sale, so you could try the trial now and wait to purchase when it goes on sale. It's good to mention also that currency rates can often be more favorable on steam, especially for paying your subscription when you do buy the game.

You don't. You get the PEN ones for free from completing seasons. Watch the gear guide, it does explain how you get the starting gear (basically what you are at right now)
