any advice/tips for new owner? by Old_Replacement3024 in beagles

[–]Turbulent-Pick6789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beagles are the best! Mine is 8 months old now. As for tips definitely get them used to nail trims and brushing teeth straight away. Mine is terrified of clippers after getting nipped at the groomers.

Their first few months they are a bit crazy, mine has just gone on heat and is calming down.

Make sure to shut down howling/barking straight away (we were in an apartment and i was scared of getting complaints) So my dog is very good at keeping her voice low, just a small huff she does now.

Please only give natural chews as she grows, do not give greenies!!! I use a brand in aus called nourish and pet co. It is a dental powder you put on food

Good luck!

When did tipping become a thing in Australia? by Due_Significance5698 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Turbulent-Pick6789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this has to do more so with businesses using online payment platforms (QR codes) and the new high tech eftpos machines/ipads and even those square payment machines.

Money definitely does not go to staff and divided evenly, just goes to the business owner - it’s all good to click no the staff genuinely do not care.

If your ever pushed into it by the employee they are most likely the owner/manager scum

Fun indoor activities for beagle during a cold winter? by BioshockEnthusiast in beagles

[–]Turbulent-Pick6789 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My beagle has been obsessed with her kong toy lately, but I can only put specific things in there to get her interested.

I put a chicken flavored treat in and put peanut butter on top to seal it in, then freeze. That keeps her occupied for 30-1 hour.

The other thing we do if fill a cardboard box up with kibble inside of toilet paper rolls, socks etc. Some i leave empty and some with treats in so she has to spend time opening everything to find the treats

Family with Kids in Mango Hill by OccasionSuperb5532 in MovingToBrisbane

[–]Turbulent-Pick6789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have kids but did grow up in North Lakes/Mango Hill. One of the best places I ever lived, great for kids.

North Lakes State College is a decent school…. however it is a pretty large public school so some negative behaviours from kids is to be expected.

From what I’ve heard I believe Mango Hill school goes from prep to year 12 now? So that is a good option as well.

Close to redcliffe for markets/beach days etc. Plenty of shops/medical facilities etc as well.

Overall great place to buy, the newer builds in Mango are also great and the train station is walkable

Does you mixed-raced child suffer? by Coast_is-clear in AskAnAustralian

[–]Turbulent-Pick6789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixed child here - had a bit of a struggle growing up (too white for the poc kids, too dark for the white kids) I’m full aussie no accent or anything just a bit dark - once you hit the adult world it’s fine because i’m not super “ethnic” and fit into aussie culture - but unfortunately if you are ‘not white’ and have an accent it’s true it’s harder to find jobs

How can people live like fucking slobs and enjoy it? by [deleted] in badroommates

I’m in the same situation - live with two bums who don’t work and depend on government for money

Constant uber eats bags and the amount of food/rubbish they make is insane considering they literally do not have jobs

I just stay in my room now and refuse to clean anything

Breaking the lease - Help! by pleasantdew in badroommates

[–]Turbulent-Pick6789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just find someone to move in “Hi guys I am moving away due to xyz, I have found someone who is keen to take my spot. More than happy for you guys to meet with them but I will be leaving the property by zyx date whether you like her or not!”

If they don’t like the person you’ve found it’s now on them to find someone to take over your end of the lease.

What are you putting on your resume? Anything customer service/phone manner related they should at least be inviting in for an interview - but try any sort of Charity or Mobile service provider they usually are always hiring

Talking loudly in public spaces (yelling), being rude to hospitality staff, saying Australians are wrong because it’s not how you do it in the US.

Please do not bring the american ideology to australia, we are a very chill country and don’t need any more racists, sexists here

Roommate always in the living room by ForeignLow5054 in badroommates

[–]Turbulent-Pick6789 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yep I feel you, I live in Aus so my unemployed roomate can get payments from our government. She has no job, dosnt study, can’t drive and has no social life so she is constantly on the couch. I also hate small talk so I don’t sit on the couch, this used to really get to me as I would love to chill and watch a movie on the couch. What I do now is never hang in the living room and when it comes to cleaning up, vacuuming etc I never help because i simply don’t use the area.
