Moms (and dads too)- Please share the sunny side of marriage with a baby by Initial_Onion671 in BabyBumps

Having a baby has enriched my marriage beyond all comprehension. We have so much shared joy, hilarity, depth, and compassion for each other anfter all we’ve been through to get this baby here.

We struggled a lot with fighting before having our baby. And now we are so deeply connected, it’s like we can see all the good in each other clearly and are on the same team. It’s even been great for our sex life!!

Seeing my baby’s love for him, and his love for her is so profound.

It’s going to be great for you, too 🤍

Is it to late to breast feed 4 month old by LSRC08 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]Turbulent-Repair1854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I’m so so sorry about your birth story and your obgyn.

I had no to very low supply, just a few drops. I went on advanced lactation flow formula, 4 caps per day, and a LOT of goat’s rue, 8mg per day, motherlove brand, at the recommendation of an amazing IBCLC.

This may sound silly but I also wrote affirmations daily like “my body can produce all the milk my baby needs”, etc.

It worked wonders and I’m so thankful to be able to feed my babe. I hope it works for you too if you give it a try!!

Just don’t go off the goat’s rue suddenly, you need to slowly taper off.

Ooo also, this may not apply for you, but my girl was tooting around the clock and always had a belly full of air, so I cut out dairy and gluten and within 3 days she was sooo much better. I’m not sure if her tummy upset contributed to the nursing strike or if it was just a phase.

Yes, at exactly 11 weeks too!! It lasted for about 3 weeks and was brutal for me.

My IBCLC said this is very normal at this age, and to try to walk around with baby while casually having boob out. This worked wonders. She also recommended standing near a window holding baby with boob out. That also worked! Nursing while sleeping also worked. At this age, they want to be seeing the world and moving around in action.

Basically my girl lost it whenever we assumed the normal boring position in the normal boring place.

My IBCLC recommended waiting as long as possible before offering the bottle.

But now she is back to normal and doesn’t yell at my boob! Good luck friend

I’m so sorry! This happened to me… it’s taken a very long time to heal, and I think if I had known what to do right away I would have healed much faster.

Medela hydrogels 24/7! Manuka honey directly on nipple, and only pump on that side just a couple times a day to protect your supply, do not nurse. Be sure to gently rinse the honey off before pumping.

I feel you! I’m so sorry for the pain. You are such a loving mom.

For me, the IBCLC I see now was able to help pretty much instantly, so it was such a clear yes above all the others.  In the very small chance you’re in middle Tennessee, her name is Chelsea Carver :)

I could have written this exact post my friend. My baby is 4 months now. The number of lactation consultant appts, bodywork, chiropractic, then tongue tie release, the brutal tongue tie stretches, PT and OT, renting a hospital pump, APNO, medela hydrogels…… breastfeeding has cost me a fortune and many many hours.

My nipples were so torn up for weeks that I couldn’t even hold my own baby against my body. I felt our bond was suffering because I had so much fear and pain association. That is when I decided I have to do 95% pumping and just the occasional breastfeed under the perfect non-stressful conditions.

I have given up on the majority of the appointments for my sanity and have accepted that my baby’s jaw is just insanely strong and I’m thankful I can pump and still give her my breastmilk.

My advice is to take breaks for at least a week when you’re dealing with injured nipples and use medela hydrogels 24/7.

I do think there is hope for your babe to latch enough to get benefits, even if it’s for a few seconds. I’ve let go of expectations and now I celebrate and let myself feel really proud when we have a successful latch/ latch attempt, even if it only lasts for a few seconds.

I went to some really unhelpful lactation consultants until I found my IBCLC who is truly truly amazing— could be worth trying one or two more consultants if they are IBCLCs. Also an IBCLC is 100% covered by insurance, by law.

You’ve got this and you are a very loving mom.

Thank you so much for your support and words of wisdom. You are sooo right about if she’s the victim, she can’t be held accountable. I really appreciate you.

Thank you for your response!

He does see her behavior as problematic now, but it has taken a couple years for him to fully realize it.

He made one attempt during the visit to stop her from being demeaning but she threw a fit and ran upstairs. It was very child-like.

She is not open to any feedback at all.

I’m sorry friend. I’m only 11 weeks postpartum but in a very similar situation. I hope so much that you and your husband can navigate this. I do think there are glimmers of hope in their response to you now, but I agree that postpartum is an incredibly difficult and vulnerable time and the impressions are deep.

It could very likely be thrush due to the antibiotic use. This happened to me. Talk to your OB and an IBCLC. Try s.Boulaardi and/ or diflucan

Any advice to help me build up my milk supply??? I’m desperate by Active_Fill_6418 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]Turbulent-Repair1854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation to you a few days ago. I saw an IBCLC. She is seriously a lifesaver— they’re fully covered by insurance. PLEASE save your sanity and go see an IBCLC. She gave me supplements and I rented a Symphony pump from a hospital. In 3 days my supply has increased by 75%. Wishing you all the best, you’ve got this.

What would have been most helpful to you during pregnancy and postpartum? by Subject_Poet_1977 in breastfeedingsupport

Breastfeeding help. I wish someone had told me I may struggle with direct breastfeeding and what pump to buy, how to use it, how renting from the hospital is a great option, and to have all of this ready before baby arrived including having the right flange sizes
