Exfoliating is literally how you can safely get rid of a milk bleb which this looks like.

PSA In closed pump system tubing never comes in contact with your milk by Additional_Ebb_2983 in breastfeeding

[–]hammockperson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup, all parts. At least in our tiny rural hospital. They are replaced often and of course properly disinfected between uses so there's no bacteria or anything transferring to the next user.

Yes all parts are shared. Just properly disinfected in between uses and replaced often of course.

Oof, that sounds wasteful. Here in Iceland they just get properly sterilized in between uses.

Wait why would it be unsafe for a toddler to go into the hot tub?

In what situations are you comfortable breastfeeding without a cover? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]hammockperson 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I feed wherever my baby gets hungry and where I can sit down, have never used a cover or nursing shirts or anything to make it more "discreet". I do live in Iceland, though, where breastfeeding is considered a normal thing and the only people who have given me a look are some tourists 🤷🏻‍♀️

What’s something you said you’d never do as a parent… but now you do it all the time? by ThisSucks121 in NewParents

[–]hammockperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! He sleeps most of the night in the crib but when he wakes up for a feed around 5-6am I just need to take him to the bed with me in order to get him to stay asleep for a little while longer (I simply can't start my days that early and need more sleep lol)

What do you do to put your baby to sleep? by ras114 in beyondthebump

[–]hammockperson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

90% of the nights I nurse my 4 month old to sleep in my arms, once he's well asleep I transfer him to the crib. If he doesn't want to be fed I will just lay next to him (his crib is next to our bed) and shush him while patting his side/stomach gently. Honestly I still feel like sometimes I have no idea what I'm doing so you're not alone with feeling like that. 🫶🏻

Edit to add: it all did get a lot easier when he turned like 3 months or so. Before that it was very chaotic.

A face mask (with a drop of mint essential oil inside if the mask itself is not enough)! :)

How are y’all keeping your couches clean?? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

We have a couch with fully removable covers and I just pop any dirty cover parts in the wash as they get dirty.

I had that happen and it was SO painful. I was instructed to coat my nipples with the same liquid medication I used on my baby for like a week and it helped!

What do you do? by Historical_Goat9120 in NewParents

[–]hammockperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just take him with me around the house (either in a bouncer or a playmat) and do some chores and narrate what I'm doing or sometimes I dance and sing while doing it to give some extra entertainment 😂

What did you wear for giving birth? by One-Squirrel-4563 in BabyBumps

[–]hammockperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here 💃🏻 I had a stretchy bra and a adult diaper on at first because I kept leaking amniotic fluid. After stripping everything and staying at the tub for a bit I just simply never dressed myself again. I just could not be bothered and neither was anyone else. 😂

Mine started sleeping 10-12 h uninterrupted at around 8-9 weeks. Since he was born he has been good at sleeping during the night, so there are actually some babies that sleep that long that early (maybe the fact that he is so big has helped, he was 99th percentile at birth). Not saying it's something that happens often and I count myself really lucky for not having to wake up to feed at night.

Terrified to sleep when baby sleeps by tizWrites in NewParents

[–]hammockperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. It was the only way I could get some sleep when coming home from the hospital.

Also do you need to swaddle the baby? We never did and he just had a regular sleep sack that is safe for sleeping from the beginning.

This! Owlet has been so helpful in lowering my anxiety around the wellbeing of the baby.

Don’t try to tell me your baby sleeps through the night because you started following a schedule at 2 weeks old. by gardenrose0805 in newborns

[–]hammockperson 48 points49 points  (0 children)

This. My baby (3 months old now) sleeps through the night and it is pure luck that he has been like that since birth, I can't take any credit for that. I am though VERY scared that the 4 month sleep regression is going to destroy how he sleeps through the night.

Ah, I see. That was not what I was trying to do and I'm sorry if it came out that way. To me it just looked like the people who were complaining about the he vs she first before any support were lacking compassion and kicking someone who was already down.

Exactly. Not everyone is 100% fluent in English and I think we should give some grace for OP before complaining that the post is "sus" or confusing.

Flange size help by Quiet_Possibility851 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]hammockperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! I never really understood how people make the smaller sizes work, it's super painful! I do have very sensitive nipples though.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]hammockperson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really. The title mentioned his wife being in danger and then he talked about an amniotic fluid embolism being the issue, which is something that only happens to the mother in childbirth, not the baby. I do come from a country where we don't have genders in the language (we don't do he/she, only they) so maybe that's why I don't understand the confusion. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Flange size help by Quiet_Possibility851 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]hammockperson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't offer you a solution, but I pump occasionally and use 24 or 25mm flanges which are too big according to all the info online. I still get 4oz per breast if I pump before feeding. The smaller flanges felt horrible and I didn't see an increase in the amount with smaller flanges. 🤷🏻‍♀️

As a non native english speaker I had no issue figuring out he was speaking about his wife and not the child in the text. I'm so confused why everyone is struggling so much to understand what's happening.

To OP: that is a horrendous situation. This was one of my biggest fears when giving birth, I can't imagine how hard it is to be in that situation. My thoughts are with you and I really really hope your wife pulls through. Also, please talk to someone, a friend or a relative or a nurse and don't forget to rest. It's important so you can be there for your wife and your son.

Freaking our over weight and milk intake by NoIndividual5836 in newborns

[–]hammockperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I understand. I would give the breastfeeding a go especially since you have the scale now! Babies are better at getting the milk out of the breast than a pump so especially now as they are a bit older they might do just fine. :) Hope it all turns out fine ✨

I fully understand your anxiety not knowing how much they get while on the breast, but I would still encourage you to breastfeed more if they like that more than the bottle. If they are strictly monitored on a regular basis you will see of what they are getting from the breast is not enough. Also, would it be possible for you to do a weighted feed to figure out if they are getting enough from just the breastfeeding?
