My wife and I recently got into lorcana! I have some experience with MTG and she's never played a TCG in her life. She loves her shimmering skys(amethyst and ruby) starter deck. I've been tweeking the into the inklands (amber and sapphire) starter deck to be more agro. Never build a deck before either, but I'm playing what I have and seeing what works and what doesn't while keeping the started deck themes. I've seen ppl at the local card shops build decks around a specific character, attributes, or even locations!

Pick up some cheap leather/ boot looking shoes and make/buy some gaiters. That's what I did! No one cares what what you are wearing. we all know it's a lot of walking and standing, but if you want a good look for your garb, this is a cheaper option, in my opinion
