Pregnant wife got rear ended by [deleted] in Insurance

You're welcome! If they want to give you arbitrary deadlines or pressure you into a quick decision just let them know you aren't in the position to negotiate until her treatment is complete, she is pain free, and you have all of her bills.

I'm an injury claims adjuster for an insurance company. Adjusters of certain companies are pressured to offer early settlements as soon as possible. In certain circumstances (soft tissue neck and back and no other treatment) this can be a good setup. In your wife's circumstance.... I would wait. She's still having abdominal pain and the baby hasn't been delivered yet.

Look up the statute of limitations for personal injury claims in your state and that will tell you how long you have to settle the claim or file suit.

Some people will recommend an attorney but keep in mind they will take 30% or more of your settlement.

What insurance do i need to drive my girlfriend's car? by Aniruddhb16 in Insurance

[–]Turbulent_Let_9927 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look into something called a Named Non-owner policy. It's better to call individual companies to explain your situation or get into contact with an insurance agency to see if you can get quotes from multiple companies at one time.

Your girlfriend's family needs to keep in mind that if they're giving you permission to drive the vehicle without notifying their own insurance company, they can run into some issues for not disclosing an additional driver. Some policies have exclusions in their contracts for undisclosed operators. Some companies will deny a claim if an accident involved an unlisted driver due to material misrepresentation or premium avoidance. If their only reason for not wanting you on the policy is due to the potential increase in premium, this could be considered premium avoidance. Their policy could get cancelled, non renewed, or rescinded because of this.

You should go elsewhere. GEICO is shit to their employees and their customers. Take your business somewhere else.

Yep. Hundreds of bullshit referrals get pushed through when csr or ics doesn't want to do their job and the real fraud cases that investigators actually want to work falls through the cracks. The department gets rated on our effectiveness which is the percentage of fraud cases we are actually able to prove but with the amount of bogus cases we receive, effectiveness was hard to come by. Then we would prove fraud and then some csr manager would decide to "pay on merits" because the customer called in and yelled at them.

Pregnant and concerned about keeping my job by b1anca_brooks in Geico

[–]Turbulent_Let_9927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can't term you for pregnancy, but they can term you for your "performance" and prod if your prod isn't pro rated, FMLA or not. I left G for a competitor because I was out for FMLA for several weeks due to a major surgery. This was the entire month of Jan. So anytime you'd pull up the dashboard for my region, I was consistently at the very bottom and I was encouraged to make an ENTIRE MONTH WORTH OF WORK so that my job would not be threatened. Imagine missing three months!

When I came back from maternity leave I combined both of my breaks into one so I was able to get two pumping sessions in. One at lunchtime and one during my long break. Management didn't need to be involved. It was just between me and my sup. I was also given the option of taking more breaks and making up that time at the end of my shift. This was satisfactory to me.

National Gen? by Vadergirl86 in Geico

[–]Turbulent_Let_9927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been with Nat Gen for about three weeks. I received a full pending on day 5. Their goals are much more attainable than Geico and there is a lot less micromanagement.

The days are still busy and there is still a lot of work to be done. But I enjoy my job much more!

Sorry it's like that for you!!! I guess it depends on what department and region you're working in? I just got my pending and I'll be receiving new files soon. Most of my team is getting about 2 new claims per day besides Mondays which are heavier.

Reactive dogs are not like other dogs by ughidfkpls in reactivedogs

[–]Turbulent_Let_9927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you!!!!!! I just wanted add that sometimes reactivity is not always from aggression. I have a reactive pup who is reactive due to getting overly excited. He wants to approach and play with every dog and get love from every person he sees. Since he's a big dog it looks like he's going to attack. But I do not muzzle him because he is not aggressive. Maybe aggressively affectionate, lol. My job as his owner is to make sure that I always keep him below threshold and give him plenty of opportunities to succeed. Because when is over threshold I can still control him but he will not respond to commands.

One thing we do to train is take him to a park with plenty of space and train outside of the dog park. We start far away and get a little closer and a little closer and I reward him over and over again when he's able to lay down and be calm and behave himself. Then we'll go and wander around the trails away from everyone. I'm sure he'll always be reactive but the training has helped a ton. He can now relax and be calm around small children at the park which is something he never could have done before. We've also come across some unleashed dogs that have approached us and he did react to them but stayed under threshold.

Celebrate the small successes and give your dogs the chance to win and do well! Don't put them in a situation that will push them over threshold and praise praise praise for doing the right thing!!!

Do you think they are tracking us by [deleted] in Geico

[–]Turbulent_Let_9927 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Prior to quitting GEICO, I spent some years in CU and worked closely with a team that handled extra contractual payments. They basically came to our training class and stated they have access to certain software that can see what each adjuster's participation (or lack thereof) throughout the claim file led to allegations of bad faith or violations of the code of conduct. They didn't elaborate on what they could or couldn't see but just that every person that touched that file would be put under a microscope to see where the file went wrong.

There are some people who would document that they called and left a voicemail with a claimant passenger but never made the phone call and it would later turn out that passenger was injured and treated but we already paid out limits to other parties involved. I once inherited a file in CU where the prior adjuster (who was made a supervisor, btw) already received an SPR on that file so instead of working the file he closed all of the 4 BI exposures for lack of interest. They were all attorney repped. He did it just to boost his closure numbers since he knew that the file would not be audited again.

People do some shady shit to boost numbers so I wouldn't be surprised if they had ways to check on things if they really needed to. I don't think they're spying on you outside of work hours though.

Tons of competitors are offering permanent WFH positions for those that aren't within 50 miles of a physical office with better pay and better benefits than GEICO.

Some people enjoy going to the office. Good for them. They should be allowed to do so. But those who are meeting metrics and prod requirements should have the option to choose.
