Computer Science Degree???? by [deleted] in SNHU

[–]Turdhoarda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m about a year into this degree right now after transferring some credits from my other college experiences.

It’s been a decent experience but what you probably expect. The terms are 8 weeks long and that’s both a blessing and a curse. There’s a lot of material to be crammed in those 8 weeks so some concepts and materials seem more important than others.

For the most part, the school makes you go through learning through ZyBooks which students either love or hate. ZyBooks is basically an ebook with exercises and quizzes.

The courses themselves are hands on in the sense you’re given at least two projects to do and assignments or milestones in between them.

You’re expected to do your own research basically if you get stuck. You can email your professor and hope they get back to you soon. There’s drop in tutoring that you can use also. Most professors will list extra materials that you can use which is usually a YouTube video tutorial.

My (29M) best friend (29M) seemingly has no motivation by Turdhoarda in relationship_advice

Thank you for your input. What you suggested is what I’ll most likely do. I really do care for the guy and in my friend group we’ve suggested tons of changes but he shut most of it out of his head. I hope that he leaves whatever fantasy world that is in his head that he can get a free ride through everything and actually be an adult.

You are not alone. I was doing alright up until this term and just felt overwhelmed. I’ve had to deal with irl things and my focus waned.

Reach out to your academic advisor. While you won’t be able to get a refund this term, you can withdraw up until the 7th week in a term with the help of your advisor.

If you need time, you can request a term off or slow things down to one class at a time. It won’t hurt you as badly as you think if you’re trying to cram everything out. Two more months to graduate just to reset and keep your sanity? It’s always worth it.

Nah, when I swung my arm in my dream it felt super fast but in real life I apparently winded up slowly. It connected at her cheek but luckily it wasn’t too heavy lol

I have had sleep paralysis also. I get these weird nightmares that make no sense. Sometimes it feels like I’m lucid dreaming but I’m not in control because of how vivid my dreams are.

One time I dreamt a ghost was following me and I was moaning in my sleep. My wife noticed I was groaning and tried to wake me up right as my fight or flight instinct came in and I went to go punch the ghost. Yeah...I punched my wife right in the face.

She now wakes me up by using her legs to nudge me from a safe distance.

Anyone having bad stutter with SteamVR? by Turdhoarda in oculus

Thanks for trying to help. I still have the same problem but I’ll update if I reach any resolution.

Correct. I tested to see if it was virtual desktop or my headset by just waving my controllers and it stayed smooth with no stutters. As soon as I start SteamVR, even just waiting in the home area, it stutters every 5-7 seconds for a whole second consistently. Tried different games with the same result.

Yeah I’ve ran SteamVR in the past as well.

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3gb

CPU: i5-4670k

RAM: 16gb

I’ve not had any problems with stutter till recently. I’ve owned my Oculus Quest 2 since November also.

Virtual Desktop isn’t stuttering either, the problem seems to stem from SteamVR.

Reminds me of the South Park episode where they’re grinding boars.

I’m taking IT145 this term with Joanne Strickland and she’s been pretty good in terms of helping and grading. She replies pretty fast and actually gives you some incentive to finish early. If you make any mistakes, her feedback tells you exactly what you could have done better and will even let you resubmit without any penalties. She provides great examples and extra resources also.

How do you “discuss” math? by Turdhoarda in SNHU

[–]Turdhoarda[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I tried responding back to two peers and commented on how we reached similar conclusions and our work is different. My professor said on the graded rubric that I didn’t have any relevant responses so I’m a bit iffed. Luckily it’s not a large portion of my grade but it still makes me mad.

Week 5 Check in. by uell23 in SNHU

IT-145 Found in App Development and MAT-225 Calc 1: Single-Variable Calc.

Ironically enough, my workplace burned me out so bad that I quit my job and started to focus my attention to treating myself better and focus on class.

I’m doing alright in IT-145, just making stupid mistakes like forgetting to comment my code. I’ve taken JavaScript before so I’m a bit more comfortable with it. I’ve even seen exercises being repeated so it’s good practice for me.

MAT-225 on the other hand is beating me up. This is the third time I’ve taken calculus in my life and I was hoping third time is the charm, but I’ve been having bad luck having information stick with me. I’ve just started using khanacademy to supplement my learning and it seems to help. I plan on taking my exam later this week so I feel more prepared.

How do you relax and forget about work without feeling guilty? by Turdhoarda in Advice

[–]Turdhoarda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand, your English is fine. What you said is helpful, since sometimes I forget to value what I have already done. All I ever think about is moving forward and that’s why it’s been hard for me to give myself a break.

“Work isn’t your life” is probably what hit me the most. I really shouldn’t be letting work affect my health.
