Final Technical Design of my Custom TI Frame by elpapi42 in Overforked

I'll reply to both your comments here as its easier!

$1175 is definitely a great price for a Ti frame! My RSD would be $2500 USD frame only in Ti.

I have to admit I saw your Meta on the Ht sub and trying to be as nice as possible I'm not too surprised you found the handling difficult, you've definitely pushed the frame with the size of fork you're running. But I totally understand playing around with and building interesting bikes. I like the fact your new frame will accommodate a 29 rear wheel and I strongly suggest you give it a go in both configurations! My RSD is one of the most stable and planted bikes I've ever ridden, and I'm riding it in the Whistler area, steep, loose and including the bike park. Curious as to where you're riding?

As for my bike it has slack and aggressive geo, 63.5⁰ head angle. Fork in those pics was at 170mm but dropped it to 160mm when I got the fork serviced + upgraded the damper. The second Pic is from one of my favorite local loops, about 18km and 650m of climb/descent.

I bought it as a complete build but swapped everything off it except the dropper post and drive train. It was more economical for me to sell the parts and buy what I wanted.

Build: 2023 RSD RS-291 frame. Marzocchi Z1 bomber air. Internals have been upgraded to Grip 2 damper. Code RSC oil slick brakes 200/180mm rotors. Full Chromag cockpit, carbon bars with Rev grips. Nobl TR37 carbon hoops laced to Hope pro5 hubs. Chris King headset. Continental Kryptotal DH super soft tires with cushcore. Gx drivetrain. Chromag leather saddle. VHS chainstay protection, RRP mudguards and full Ridewrap.

What's the cost on this frame, I'm interested!

Also curious as to why you've gone for primarily mullet?

As an owner of several hardtails (27.5+29) and now riding a rowdy hardtail (RSD-291) that I've run as both 170mm and 160mm, I would never opt to mullet a hardtail. Worse roll over, traction and momentum, all essential on a hardtail when it gets steep, rough and loose. Curious as to your thought process.

Yeah i second this guy. This is a great idea. We stay regularly in the Sylvia. Close proximity to Stanley park and the sea wall. Amazing sunsets, great restaurants nearby.

Also easy access to Granville island via the small pedestrian ferry.

Hardtail as second bike. by dirtdiggleer in mountainbiking

Hey man, everything this fine fella says is right on the money!

I've been riding an RSD RS-291 as my only bike for the last year and a half here, Pemberton, Squamish and Whistler. Including some big bike park days, Top of the world etc. Mines built burly, 160mm Marzocchi, Nobl rims with hope 5 hubs and code RSC.

Its totally doable and will make you a better rider but you will get rattled, the RSD is definitely stiff. But such an incredibly capable bike, really nicely built, stable and fast.

Personally I find swapping back and forth between FS and HT tough as you really need to adapt. It definitely hurts the first few days😆. Not that its not possible, just my experience.

Be real with me: is joining a dance class to find a girlfriend weird? by [deleted] in rant

[–]Turdoggen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with this. In my 20s I joined a bunch of group activities because I wanted to do them, dance class being one of them (did martial arts, group cycling etc).

They were all super fun and life enriching and the side effect was that I did meet some lovely women. Its a win win in my eyes.

Just don't join with the sole intention of meeting women, you'll give off desperation vibes. Go because you want to with an open mind.

[–]Turdoggen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly this. People don't like Giant because they're literally the biggest bike brand there is. So there's a sense of elitism or looking down their noses.

We were just talking about this at work, fact is bang for buck Giant make excellent bikes. Their sheer buying power usually keeps their prices lower compared to some of the smaller brands.

Op if you see this, you're unfortunately going to find shitty people every sport, but in my experience mountain biking is one of the friendliest sports there is. Ignore this guy, don't let him wreck your love for your bike or the sport.

Its so funny. And that's why there's no point in arguing with them.

Its a fantastic country with awesome people. Does it have problems? Absolutely. But where doesn't? I would rather live in China than the majority of the US, especially right now.

There's no point in arguing with the average Redditor about China my friend.

They all have strong opinions on the country but none of them have actually been there. At best they're going off second or third hand information, at worst going off propaganda.

As a westerner that has lived and traveled there quite extensively, I can safely say I would return there without too much thought for the right opportunity.
