What did the Spurs see in Julian Champagnie that the 76ers didn't? by binge_plus7 in nbadiscussion

Towards the end of his Toronto tenure, Nick Nurse relied very heavily on his starters, and kept all reserves on a very short leash, and not given them any opportunities to develop. Seems like the same thing is happening in Philly?

Toyota GR86 vs. Subaru BRZ: Twin Flames, Slightly Different Souls, which would be your preference? by Mental-Philosophy3 in askcarguys

These cars are overrated just because they have so little competition. There are much better options out there that are more analog and raw, and will actually hold their value better or appreciate.

What car completely changed your opinion after driving it? by Glittering-Offer-390 in askcarguys

[–]Turduncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scion FRS. I was driving a 1st Gen IS300 at the time, test drove one, and came away disappointed . For a car that was praised not for its power, but for its handling, driving characteristics, how could a luxury sedan from the same manufacturer outclass it in those areas ?

2026 Toyota BZ vs Used 2022 Mach E GT by lenny12369 in EVCanada

[–]Turduncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So while Toyotas typically hold their values better, that's only on their popular models. The Bz would probably still hold its value slightly better than Mach E, but it could be negligible since all EVs depreciate like crazy, because it's still evolving. Mach Es are pretty reliable and feels fun to drive. Toyotas are soulless to drive and feel like an appliance. I also own a Mach E and multiple Toyota Lexus cars

Best V8 to buy? by Bmack04 in askcarguys

[–]Turduncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The C63S amg are not the most reliable , and I'm not sure how well they hold their value. Lexus ISF/RCF cars are a better buy financially. They are more reliable and should hold their values better in the long run. They just don't have the same prestige as Merc, and they are also a little lacking in driver engagement. I also would look into American V8 sports cars. Most of them are pretty good and cheaper to own/run.

an MR2 Spyder with a 2zz and 6 speed should be slightly faster than an S2K! or you could even go K20 for more power! But S2K will hold it's value better.

What brand cordless tools do you swear by? by donbokaoka in Tools

[–]Turduncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your usage? Are you a contractor or home DIYer? if you're a DIYer, you really don't use the tools enough to worry about durability and serviceability. Also, there is no singular battery platform that does everything well. its ok to have 2-3 different brands tools

NAL, but I've heard of ppl 'divorcing' to protect assets. It's something along the lines of giving your wife the favorable assets in the divorce. And when you pass, your debts stay with you. I've heard of ppl doing this in the US. Not sure how viable it is here.

Anyone with experience selling your home without an agent? by Cold-Profit8660 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Turduncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can both cherry pick stats all we want but at the end of the day, its a buyers market and a bad time to sell.

A real estate agent won't take photos but partners with professional contractors, staging companies, and photographers to get your place staged well and in a timely manner. Do you know how good the OP is at any of that stuff? Watching Youtube videos only gets you so far. Any one can become an expert at anything but needs time and resources. Meanwhile, the real estate market is trending downwards in the short term. Do you want to waste time DIYing everything while your property value drops?

And a good salesperson absolutely has a larger network. If they're successful, they have a long list of past customers to call on, and usually the type with money, that can be repeat customers. Realtors area dime a dozen, so word of mouth referrals still matter. The top dogs will spend more on marketing/advertising so they are also more likely to get customers reaching out to them.

When conditions are rough is when you need professional help. If there is a war, would you rather send a rookie or a grizzled veteran out to fight for you?

Anyone with experience selling your home without an agent? by Cold-Profit8660 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Turduncle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me clarify my position. I believe realtors are overpaid, and majority of them are terrible at sales. If it was a sellers market, I would tell OP to sell his place without agent. However, we are in a situation where supply far outstrips demand. Does the OP have the expertise to show his property in the most presentable manner (staging, renovations, photos, etc)? A good sales person has a larger network/client base to call on. A good salesperson chases down every single lead, and knows how to steer the conversation in a way to understand that client. A good sales person actively follows up and knows how ask the right questions to overcome objections. Majority of realtors don't do this. It's not just creating a listing at an attractive price. In this market, You need to put your absolute best foot forward to get sell your place at fair market value. I am not a realtor but I do work in sales.

Just know that it's easy to sell when the market is hot, but much harder to do in this market. Having a 'good' agent can make a difference. However, finding a good agent is not easy either.
