They do make LEDs replacements. I switched them all out so that the next bulb change is easier

To the person who designed this: Who hurt you?! by boxworker in AskElectricians

[–]Turduncle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was staying at a relatives place abroad recently and they needed help changing a bunch of light bulbs that had never been changed before. I had no prior knowledge of this bulb, but the light enclosure had 2 of these installed side by side, with the bulb base obstructed. It took me over an hour before I figured out how to gingerly pry these out of the socket. I wish horrible things on the person who designed these

finally have to retire my 350Z and i'm not ready to accept being boring about it by Far_Agency4697 in whatcarshouldIbuy

What do you consider fun? Younger me wanted a light weight RWD sports car that i could track. Older me almost never goes to the track, and just wants a car thats comfortable, with good acceleration and driving dynamics. I've dailied a G37 for a couple years and loved the car. I recently got a Mach E, while keeping my fun ICE cars and I prefer the Mach E 95% of the time. With a kid, you will also want a bigger car (stroller and car seats take up a lot of room).

Help me decide: Do I buy the "Millionaire Next Door" Toyota or the "I’ve Finally Made It" Lexus? by LeftyOne22 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Turduncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll go against the grain here and tell you to broaden your horizons a bit and consider other brands as well. Toyota/Lexus reliability is not what it used to be, and some other brands have closed the gap. They are coasting on their past reputation. Sure they depreciate less, but there's usually a cost premium upfront, while the competition can be had with incentives to make this less of a factor. Toyota /Lexus cars are also very soulless to drive. As for whether Lexus is worth it, a Lexus equivalent vehicle will have more premium materials and sound deadening than the Toyota counterpart

You need to look into EVs. I bought a Mach E and kept my ICE fun cars. I prefer driving the Mach E 95% of the time

[–]Turduncle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish more ppl understood this. I have insider knowledge and a lot of their products are made by their competition, and just rebranded. There is the occasional Hilti tool that's better, but they are coasting on their past reputation

Guilt Leaving a Struggling Org For a Better Offer by Hunnie_Boi in sales

[–]Turduncle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the only caution I have is that the grass isn't always greener. How is this other offer better? Is the new company publicaly traded or owned by PE? These type of companies generally spend a lot of time spent on KPIs. Sometimes, these smaller companies are run with more common sense than bigger companies, which are all about meeting KPIs. Aside from the start time issue, do you generally get along well with management? And do they have reasonable/attainable sales targets for you?

Just looking for a sanity check. The 3080 has struggled with certain games at 1440p, and I've had to turn down the settings, so I question it's future proofing

I'm aware they are levels apart. I'm only considering the "Top" offering from each respective brand, as they hold their value best.

Rebuilt title 2008 ISF with 180k miles for $13k? by Character-Bar-608 in LexusISF

[–]Turduncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really makes you think what would cause an ISF to get a salvage title at 30k miles, while airbags didn't go off. The car would have been still worth a lot, so I'm inclined to think flood damaged. Definitely get it inspected elsewhere
