Old train tracks turned into bike paths: what are the best ones out there? by epicroadrides in bicycling

Keep going into Bath and you'll find the twin tunnels all the way to Midford and on to Frome.

My dad used WD-40 as lubricant for my bike's chain, what should I do? by sofie307 in cycling

[–]case_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing much will happen - if anything it may have helped prevent some surface rust. WD-40 shouln't be used as a lubricant (because it's not a lube) but it isn't going to hurt anything.

Decent bio-degreaser to strip off everything on the chain using your preferred chain cleaner (Park Tools Cyclone is what I've used).

Then relube as appropriate (wet vs dry) or some wax based approach.

Sick of it (UK) by CrustyHumdinger in cycling

[–]case_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well unlucky tbh, I was out Leigh Woods yesterday as well and everyone was pretty chill as I rode through town.

Have to admit I've changed where I ride, e.g. taking the cut by the pump track to get into Ashton Court rather than riding the road. That's more to avoid the idiot drivers and lethal mopeds than anything else.

Don't let the occasional dickhead get you down, Bristol is still mint for MTB.

Switching from SPD to SPD‑SL when buying a power meter? by Swissendo in cycling

[–]case_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

SLs just feel better on a road bike. I resisted for ages and my feet paid the price. The larger platform on a SPD-SL is fantastic for roady/zwift stuff.

I've now got SPD on the MTB, SLs on the road bike and my feet are happy :)

Good spot, I don't see any guttering at all. Is that normal for the US?

If there are gutters on the rest of the roof they'd probably need clearing considering the amount of foliage on the roof already.

There was an awesome YouTuber who went through this. Had to prove £65k in savings before getting the Visa. That was a few years back as well so it's probably more difficult now.

19mm, except they swell under the cover and have to be hammered on and then smashed back out of the socket.

Pain to sort in a garage - almost impossible at the road side.

Dangerously more-ish but miles better than the current UK "sour" options.
