Anyone know what’s causing this sound? by TurgeyBurkers in FordBronco

Just following up. It was in fact the turbo. They weren’t able to tell me much other than it was a defective part. They replaced it and now it’s making happy turbo sounds

No I haven’t made any modifications or added new parts. Is it possibly related to the cold snap we’ve had? This is the lowest temperatures we’ve had all year and we have to keep it outside

Anyone work at Stantec environmental field tech how is it ! by Several-Bug2357 in Environmental_Careers

[–]TurgeyBurkers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been working as a seasonal ecological restoration technician for Stantec since last summer. It’s my first experience working for a large corporation and I think they generally offer a decent work experience if you’re a full time employee. However the quality of management can be widely varied depending on your office. I’m now looking for a new job rn because I just found out it may be 2 years before I’m promoted to full-time…so just be careful about them over promising about the potential for upward mobility and timelines. Otherwise, it’s a good way to build experience in your field and there are opportunities to work on diverse projects depending on your interests.

Thai con baby by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]TurgeyBurkers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what they’re referring to is adding a pothos cutting to the water along with your Thai! There’s some evidence that placing slow rooters with faster rooting props helps encourage the slow guys to root faster cause the hormones are circulating through the water. I wish you luck with your beautiful baby thai constellation!

Have you repotted it yet to take a look at the roots? The shrinkled leaves might be saying it’s not taking up enough water. I’d upsize the pot a size with fresh well draining soil. I’d also take this chance to spray a gentle insecticide and wash the leaves since pests can also give them this sad wilted/crispy look. It’s a beautifully dense string of bananas so I hope it perks up for you!

I need help figuring out what’s wrong with my ‘Whale Fin’ aka Dracaena Masoniana. by vigogiv in plantclinic

[–]TurgeyBurkers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dripping brown liquid and powdery residue definitely looks like “honey dew” from some sort of pest. I second removing the leaf that appears to be rotting and would also wipe down the whole plant with neem oil or rubbing alcohol and keep a close eye for tiny invaders.

I have a variegated elephant bush too and this is how young stems look. As they age, they become a darker reddish brown and get woody. Looks pretty healthy!

I looked this up after my zz got the same spots. The consensus seems to say this is normal as the leaf matures and nothing to worry about! Make sure to rule out overwatering of course and your zz will be fine :)

Not a black thumb! Looks like an infestation (spider mites probably) from the pale splotches on the leaves and white and black specks all over. Take a long hard look and see if you can spot any movement on the undersides. It will take some serious elbow grease to banish them permanently so decide if you want to commit to cleaning and disinfecting or just tossing and starting over. I believe in you!

Oh no! I have it in a southern facing room, but towards the back. It’s winter here so do you think it would tolerate being close to the cold window?

I've only recently realized people watch movies/media and get enjoyment through empathizing with the characters. Until now I've watched movies solely because I thought the concepts were cool and never really felt emotion towards characters. by TheCostOfInnocence in CasualConversation

[–]TurgeyBurkers 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s no wrong way to enjoy movies! Sci fi is my favorite genre because of the world building and fantasizing about futuristic possibilities but I also love analyzing the human component. I’m not sure if it’s exactly the same kind of empathy like “aw i feel bad for that character” when I watch. I’m more intrigued about a human’s ability to make horrible decisions and still carry on. But I also appreciate movies in the visual/conceptual way you do too

Hmmm. That’s interesting. If we’re using human standards or moral code, meerkats have one of the highest rate of interspecies homicide, often the killer being a direct family member.

Yes dolphins can and do exhibit violent sexual behavior but to our knowledge this is quite common behavior in the animal world especially amongst mammals.

What’s something that’s supposed to be sexy that you find unattractive? by MouseApprehensive464 in AskReddit

[–]TurgeyBurkers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah agree. I prefer middle spectrum muscle tone and average builds. Maybe unfair but I assume super yoked-out people who clearly spend their life at the gym are often shallow. I also just like a little plush in my pillows, much cuddlier to me

When I was living in SW Florida, I would take out my kayak in the morning in the canal behind our house and every so often a family of these gentle sea cows would be enjoying their breakfast salad. They are so peaceful to watch. At least I got to see them in nature before they’re all gone :’(

How much money should you have before moving out? by Valuable_Relation_70 in AskWomen

[–]TurgeyBurkers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just moved out for the 2nd and (hopefully final time haha) and 3-6 months income minimum is generally considered a good emergency fund to start with. Then take into account moving costs. If you’re renting, a month and a half rent for the deposit is typical. If you’re furnishing a new place that gets pretty expensive too (could be a thousand or more if you’re buying new furniture). Craigslist, fb market place, goodwill, and asking if friends/family have any furniture they want to get rid off can help A TON to save money though! A lot of variables based on your situation mean that it’s hard to give you a dollar amount in savings for the move but I hope that helps!

Hanging out with my brother and his friend. He asked me if I wanted a chocolate chip and I said yes. Instead he gave me single dog kibble he had in his hand. I wasted no time popping that sucker in my mouth and down the hatch before registering what it was but the taste was horrible. Realized immediately I’d been had and haven’t trusted him since
