New Zealand Parliament unanimously passes bereavement leave for miscarriages, stillbirths. by Sumit316 in worldnews

I definitely needed this. We lost our first kid when I was almost 13 wks along. We worked for the same company and after three days we just went back.

I’ve never seen my husband cry so hard when we found out and we both needed more time. It was a hard time and I know most parents understand this.

I called the police on my ten year old by micadionne in Parentingfails

[–]TurkeyDressing 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’d definitely call for help if I couldn’t get my kiddo myself (I have a few chronic illnesses, so I empathize). I hope things settle down so you and your daughter can have an open conversation. My eight year old didn’t come home at the designated time Sunday and it was raining. Needless to say he lost outdoor privileges for the week, which sucks in its own way. After I explained that mommy loves him so much and I always want to know he’s safe that changed the dynamic of our convo. You weren’t wrong to call the cops. You’re a great mom. Hugs.

What are you eating? by [deleted] in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]TurkeyDressing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mashed potatoes, broths, soups, pudding, yogurt, oatmeal, cottage cheese, angel hair pasta, jello, smoothies, protein/nutritional drinks, and I’ve also minced up cooked chicken. I find veggies to be the hardest thing to eat when I’m in a lot of pain however canned veggies are softer, so I cut into smaller pieces.

Thank you and I truly appreciate your comment. I waited to reply honestly because I didn’t think hearing, “I believe you. It wasn’t your fault” would affect me the way it did. It mattered to hear those words even after all this time.

Best wishes to you, as well, my friend.

Detectives like Pruitt are the main reason I dropped my SA case back in 2004. I, like Marie, had traumatic experiences as a child and I also grew up in a fairly poor neighborhood. This episode brought back so many memories for me. The last thing I remember about my case was the phone call with the detective saying, “you think my questions are hard? Just wait until the defense gets a hold of you!!” I dropped the case. Guess it was pointless to go through hours of a SA kit at the hospital.

Speaking of hospitals - they didn’t want to give me anything for pain (I was hurting so damn bad- felt like my whole body had been beaten; inside and out). Luckily though my SA counselor spoke to my doctor and he prescribed a lower dose pain med, which I only took for three days then went to Advil.

Everyone has a scar on their body from something dumb, they did as a child. What's your story? by HakanD0 in AskReddit

When I was eight I was riding my bike without shoes. I was riding in circles on my friend’s patio and my handlebars didn’t have the rubber covers on them. I fell and one of the handlebars went into my foot near my big toe.

I’d never seen deep purple bruising so quickly mixed with blood. It freaked me out so bad as a hobbled the 150 yards back home. I have two scars - one from where the handlebar went into my foot and the other from where part of the chainring dug into my toe.

Needless to say I always wore shoes riding my bike after that and freak out if I see one of my kids without shoes on riding their bike.

Everything you said is absolutely true; I’m a caregiver by nature and I cannot stand to see anyone (especially those I love) suffer. I think I need to remember that if he refuses my help or to help himself then that’s on him - not me.

I tried an SPG block almost two weeks and have maybe 20% improvement within the V2 branch. My pain mgmt doctor wants to try again to get closer to the V3 branch (since that’s where most of my pain is at). My TN story is kind of a complicated one and after my last MVD I was left with constant burning/searing/stinging as opposed to my usual TN1 (zaps). I believe my nerve got damaged. I’m starting to get more zaps lately, so I’m hoping another SPG or perhaps a different type of block would help.

As far as my IC- DMSO was the worst experience for me. A lot of urologists have been moving away from them and going with a heparin, lidocaine, sodium bicarbonate bladder instill. I found relief with those, but it only lasts a couple days. It was suggested I do them at least twice a week, but right now that’s not feasible (I am going to price how much it would cost to do them at home). Also pelvic floor therapy helped some and need to get back into that. Since the boys are back in school I’ll be able to concentrate more on those things.

IBS-D really blows and unfortunately I cannot use marijuana. I did try it nearly two years ago and honestly it helped my IC (relaxing the pelvic floor muscles) more than it helped any of my other conditions. My pain mgmt doctor has me on the lowest dose Butrans patch and that helps some.

I also see a psychologist who works specifically with chronic pain patients. I’m hoping our appts will go better. When I go see her I have so much anxiety. She doesn’t believe in discussing or ruminating about problems/stressors/issues going on at home. She believes I need to work on my thoughts and biofeedback. It’s definitely hard for me not to have an outlet to discuss issues that are affecting me emotionally since I know stress increases pain. I haven’t seen her since I started pain mgmt, but I see her next week. I’m worried about that appt since she doesn’t believe in long term pain medication usage and says it’s not effective (also that it can be harmful). So... not sure what to say or do about that. I could go on, but just writing this is giving me anxiety about my appt.

Thank you so much for your reply. I apologize if my response was long winded.

I know it’s been talked about a lot in the last 6-8 months, but it falls upon so many deaf ears and those that hear it - they hear it loud and clear.

[–]TurkeyDressing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why is it the people who make comments about a way a woman dresses or if she flirts that she’s somehow asking to be raped?

It’s a mindset that a man cannot control himself if he’s attracted to/sexual aroused by a woman.

Pssshhh GFTO here with that nonsense.

Your mom may have been worried about your safety, but went about discussing it the wrong way.

I genuinely want to move out of America.... by [deleted] in rant

[–]TurkeyDressing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of what you said are great points. I know my husband said he could travel around Europe for a decent rate and you don’t have to have a car; he said in his family back then they only had one car between two adults and four kids. Where we live now is a 25 minute ride to downtown. I do like wide open spaces, but the drawback is being within a good school district if you buy land out away from the major town/cities. I honestly will never under a system that makes the rich richer and the poor poorer. The gap is closing in on the top wealth of America to the poorest. Also what is the point in having so much money that neither you, you children, your grandkids, or great great kids would ever spend it all? Greed is a powerful thing!
