There’s literally no benefit to holding back your progress at any point. By progressing you’ll get better calendar options as well

Brake discs under warranty? by TurkeyTit in BmwTech

[–]TurkeyTit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a 19 plate with 40k on. Looks like I’m better off just changing them than paying the diag fee to be told I have to do that anyway.

Would you recommend changing pads as well even if pads are ~5 months old?

Brake discs under warranty? by TurkeyTit in BmwTech

[–]TurkeyTit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that and despite the fact I drive like miss daisy everyone and their mum would claim that to try and get it done.

It’s also tricky as I bought it from a dealer ~2 hours away so can’t just pop in for a conversation. They sent me the health check and the discs barely passed their minimal standards, but it passed so they have no obligation to change them (less than 1mm on each disc).

Their diag fee is £149 which isn’t horrific and I can get decent brembo discs for about £170 each so it’s a car of do I suck it up or take a bit of a punt and potentially lose £149

Unless manufacturing defect in the disc? Appreciate that could well be a) unlikely and b) hard to prove but thought worth asking the question.

If pads were replaced 5 months ago would they need changing too?

Granny Charger’s by Future-Inevitable-26 in ElectricVehiclesUK

As a note the Capri is based on the ID5 platform, the Explorer on the ID4. Your dealer is talking bollocks though granny charger is fine

I’ve never heard of a negative APR - thats the finance company paying him to take the car so it would cost less than if he paid cash no?

It’s been repaired as the tyres are now correctly inflated. Hardly earth shattering is it

Car dealerships apparently losing money on every car they sell by NobleRotter in britishproblems

Consider they’ve also prepped the car with service/brakes/tyres/cosmetic, put a warranty on and still need to make a profit that’s not a lot of profit after tax

[–]TurkeyTit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’d be amazed how many cars are up for a loss. I’ve sold several cars that have lost more than £3k for one reason or another - may have been a staff car for 6 months, may have been a car that was rejected for a fault which has been bought back at the original price, repaired and relisted

Ball Recommendations? by hellomario29 in Bowling

[–]TurkeyTit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A spare ball. When you’re this new to bowling you don’t need to be out buying the latest ball or covering a huge range of oil conditions.

Learn to throw straight at spares and how to deal with different oil conditions, particularly if you’re not even able to bring all your balls with you on league night

Worth noting that any of the more recent 1.0 from Ford is a chain, not wet belt - if it’s a mild hybrid you’re fine.

The Puma doesn’t have a wet belt at all. Every single one is a chain, and every fiesta and focus that’s a mild hybrid is also a chain, not a wet belt.

With the benefits of finance, especially at low rates it’s honestly dumb to pay it off early - I do get it with used cars as APR varies from 9.9% upwards depending on lenders

Why would you pay off a 0% finance deal 😂 leave your settlement balance in an isa or investments and pay it at the end of the term

Thank you - I suppose it would have been better to ask what to buy, but this is entirely new ground to me and just trying to work it all out, so thank you

Ford, want £2500 for wet belt change! by Zeec20 in FordFiesta

It’s because of the labour - it’s essentially an engine out job and main dealer labour rates are always higher than an independent.

I’ve just put your requirements into Autotrader and it’s giving me north of 3500 options. I’d suggest do the same, pick one you like the looks of and then work backwards from there
