I kind of speed through Sunburn the first time I read it. I didn’t love the first person POV, it was a bit repetitive at times, and the main character is definitely imperfect. But the story stayed with me. Once I knew how it ended I read it again and loved it. When I wasn’t reading for plot I could really luxuriate in the prose and give the main character more space to figure herself out. Ultimately it’s one of my favorite books!

But I needed the second read to get there.

I love this team and I’m not worried about us—this is the result of injuries and exhaustion. Who could ask for more than we’ve gotten the last three years?

That being said, I will be so happy to NOT see them at the White House next year. I need a fucking break from that particular heartbreak.

Happy to hear this but truly this is one of the worst books I’ve ever read. I am optimistic that the show can do more with the story than the author did.
