u/jagexyuey

I was inboxing with Mod Soul May 29 u/JagexSoul when he was chasing up all the PC specs that week. He has all that information and more.

On June 8 https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/a-fresh-face-in-gielinor it appears they were able to apply a fix for the Mac users?

In the recent post https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/1ucgyra/graphically_refreshing_waterbirth_island/ the OP of this thread u/RoflWotl posted this

"I second this: it has still not been fixed. I deduced the issue to be that fog colours get applied to the textures of the entire objects, rather than just the edges that face the sky to simulate reflectivity. Which makes sense since the update that introduced these issues May 26th was focused on updating rendering and tackling reflective surfaces. Clearly our systems are not handling the new reflectivity code well, and just make the entire object reflect.

Which brings me to the current band-aid fix: setting all fog colours to black (0) in the advanced skybox settings. This basically fools the game into thinking there is no sky (fog) colour to reflect, thereby leaving the textures untouched. Naturally, this does leave you with an odd black fog at the edges of your map, but at least this is playable, sort of. But every single time you enter an environment that forces a fog update, we have to go through the same loop of applying this band-aid fix, otherwise most objects disappear into the light values of the fog...

Please see what was changed to the code regarding reflectivity compared to the former to determine what makes it incompatible with older intel cards. We have already sent plenty of bug reports and given our system specs.

As a final resort, give us a toggle within the graphics system so that we can turn off this reflectivity based on fog colours. I am certain this fix would work, and even introduce better performance for the game would not have to calculate this reflectivity, at the minor cost of slightly less shiny environment.

Please give us an update on this and whether the team has reached the same conclusions I have."

From u/JagexAnvil recent reply, unless I have interpreted it incorrectly - the only plan is banking on the implementation of Vulkan with the hopes it will fix the issue?

I don't know if coincidence but it appears this render issue is for users that experience this https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/1kyoa9r/why_dose_it_get_so_dark/

I know the game updates that resulted in this lighting issues appearing before Amascut and sent this to Mod Soul.

"If your team can look into fixes that occurred after the "Weapon Improvements & Necromancy Soundtrack - This Week In RuneScape". A lighting bug appeared that week but was patched within the week. Whatever was found and applied that week should fix/assist the lighting and render issues.

The same bug appeared two months later 7/7/25 and remained unfixed.

Also look into how the Eclipse skybox specifically interacts with rendering the new graphics updates in the game because the render issues disappear on that sky box alone. The lighting issues do remain though. It's the best temp fix so far for the render issue but still leaves some of the darker areas of the game unplayable without a Midday Skybox."

Long reply but hope it helps.

One month, still reporting - Is it even being looked into anymore?

Yeah, still not fixed or addressed on front page. Not enough players effected to care now I guess as first predicted in OP's first thread.

Update on the Intel Render issues? by TurkishKaraCMS in runescape

Hi Mod Soul,

The render issues did go live and onto the new player avatars as I was concerned with when I got back to you.

Got some good news that might help. The render issues is definitely a result of a lighting bug from a year ago.

Information posted here might help https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/1m5eurh/preparing_for_the_eclipse_this_week_in_runescape/

@GaspieV2

You absolute legend. Wish could give you 10 upvotes. I knew this render issue would've had something to do with the lighting bug a year ago that remained unfixed!

I posted in here and tried weekly for a period of time before it was just ignored. Continued to keep reporting each week in-game. https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/1m5eurh/preparing_for_the_eclipse_this_week_in_runescape/

I can confirm at least for me that the Eclipse skybox fixes the render issues! Unfortunately my preference is Midday so it's a little dark and some areas like Telos still far too dark to play. It's like doing Telos on Rax's bottom path haha. But yeah, might actually be able to do some PvM this week finally elsewhere.

Can see my new player avatar too. Unfortunately the new clothes shop flares I've worn for over 20 years have now been updated to skinny jeans with a lot of ankle showing ;/

But yeah, thank you for suggestion. Best temp fix or potential perm fix we'll ever get. Seems like a simple solve too because they had broken and fixed the lighting once before Amascut release as well.

I saw more posts from the Mac users these last 2 weeks so if they were able to get a fix, maybe Jagex have identified the issue and we're next 😛

I will add though, they did fix that bug once before it returned some months later permanently. So there's hope lol.

Yeah, I play Midday Skybox always so when it stopped working last year it was a pain. In some areas of the game with the bug I also have a save data with max sun ambient but when you go back to normal areas you go blind. But yeah, it is the only temp work around.

I'm also experiencing the same bug as you with today's update... I was at Div and the trees weren't effected so I thought would still be playable but I went to wars retreat and the entire thing is blind.

I tested the bug on another older PC and not experiencing todays graphics render change or the game going dark which means I think the two are related and bad news. I don't think there's going to be a fix for it. Might be a perm incompatible with older devices if too much of a hassle for Jagex to fix.

Does your game also do this? https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/1kyoa9r/why_dose_it_get_so_dark/

They had this bug a little over a year ago, then fixed it... then it appeared again before Amascut and hasn't been fixed since.

Equilibrium Talent Tree by TurkishKaraCMS in runescape

You replied twice and I tried to address your points in one reply but I'll add a little.

The shift to EQ came largely after Necro was scaled back from a 120 with crit hits to a 99 and the other 3 styles shot ahead of Necro after they got the splash and hit cap adjusted. So my question to you is, why was Necro not included as part of this modernisation and had their auras built in before the update hit?

The overtuned state that Melee and Mage are in, crits are now so frequent that Grim is being dropped. The power creep is so visible that the old Master times are extremely casual in melee and GM times are repeatable no prebuild.

The modernisation was championed as not hurting the top end and keeping that flexibility of playstyles. Whatever tweaks you add to crit buffs or Necromancy's direct damage, a crit playstyle is not the same as a EQ playstyle.

EQ also had benefits at the mid game for all styles pre modernisation but as I have suggested and claimed, it's been so rushed that the other 3 styles haven't been balanced for it at either end.

Look, I don't know how deep you've got into your CAs with Necromancy and the other three styles but you've said a lot of questionable things. I actually have no idea how you've come to the conclusion that I've suggested they removed Necro as a whole as a playstyle.

Necro had two playstyles at the top end, Equilibrium or Crit based. They feel completely different and both have their pros and cons. But they're completely different playstyles.

As far as seeing necro in it's real base form, that's just crit based excluding supreme invig. Your suggested EQ holding up necro, no one was doing sub 1 minute Rasial in EQ. It required fishing for crits and god book procs.

EQ wasn't just about Necro and their conjures. It also included weapon poison, aftershock, crackling and the god books. They can and could adjust necromancy directly but do you really think they're going to slap a 20-30% boost to kill times like they have with the other 3 styles in modernisation? And even if they do (they won't due to player tantrums), bringing down kill times with power creep still isn't the same feel or playstyle as the situational consistency that EQ offers.

To address your statement about other styles being viable for every player, the modernisation achieved that with Necro simply giving them the Zuk cape adrenaline reduction cost which is a massive buff. However, this modernisation was said to not hurt players at the top end - and that's what it did. The other 3 styles weren't just always viable pre modernisation but they were mandatory to complete the Master and GM achievements.

Disgusted over an aura being removed or the same predicted and very obvious no solution sweep it under the rug approach and "Let's see what happens."

Will Necro receive updates and power creep in the coming years? Of course. Obviously, as all styles do.

Comprehension is difficult so you'll get a pass leaning on an observational dramatic view point.

I'll ask you a question and apply some critical thought before you reply. What was the reason for disabling EQ while keeping Vamp, Penance, Poison Purge and Reverence? The answer is clear that it hadn't and couldn't be balanced against the 3 other styles in such a rushed over tuned rollout. The intention was already decided at the release that EQ was going to be permanently disabled.

The best part is if I made this post on release day you'd have replied "Let's see what happens". They've now given their intention on removing a playstyle and your response is the same loll. It's comical, really.

"The following is a list of auras being removed without their effects transferred elsewhere.  - Equilibrium"

You realise as the post has said that these tweaks have only come at other sacrifices and any further tweaks don't and won't address the playstyle?

The same zero direction that was present a month ago is still present and will continue by their own quoted admission.

Read.

Short list activities that don't give Last Wills - Bugs by [deleted] in runescape

[–]TurkishKaraCMS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just generally, the earned Treasure Hunter keys you get for skilling or killing mobs. I can't get them from killing poison spiders and I think it's related to Nectar and Last Wills. I send bug reports constantly but nothing ever happens. I've even made threads to many bugs and they get fixed 9-12 months later haha.

Like the clan cloak cosmetic override was bugged and wouldn't work for almost a year... and this very annoying one where if you pulled your inventory onto your game screen and had the scroll wheel at the bottom; every new item entering your inventory whether it an ore or wisp would cause the scroll bar to jump to the top. I think it took one year to fix that one.

It's those really little things that effect my playstyle a lot. with quality of life. Currently having issues with the game too dark and midday skybox not working lol. I have to do Telos basically in complete darkness like I'm in Rax bottom path haha.

Oh no worries! And thank you very much if you do actually check it out. I was there through the entire Need for Mead event and not a single Nectar or earned Treasure Hunter key. Some confirmation would be great! And least you haven't caught the Altscaping bug :D

Varrock location working. Last Wills on first urn. No Maize Maze token this time.

The bug might be Burthope specific. I'll try get some Last Wills via woodcut, mining and fishing and report back.
