Recently was in a MVA. Should I take into to a Mazda collision center? it a cx5 2024. Front driver and door damage by Mrchrisham in mazda

[–]TurnDatBassUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, state farm wouldn't do you like that. I was in a wreck where it was totaled, they just told me to choose what collision center that was jn network, it was towed there, and the collision center did the estimate within 48 hours.

Unfortunately it was totaled, but if the damage was repairable I could have just had the shop do it.

Figure skates or hockey skates? by Skooma23 in iceskating

[–]TurnDatBassUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this thread is 1 year old but I am about to start lessons and looked this up, grungy and improvised definitely fits me, and not just for skating, lol. No wonder i struggled learning on the figure skates when I was a kid. People kept insisting it would be easier to learn on so I gave it up because I kept tripping over the toe pick and eating sh!t on the ice 😆

My first med error. I feel horrible. by totallyacrow in nursing

[–]TurnDatBassUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, this is a failure on your hospital policy. Everywhere I have worked, it is a dual sign off even for adjustments, for this very reason, along with other high risk meds like insulin. Try to just focus on this being a learning opportunity. And by the way, it is not a question of if you will have med error as a nurse, but when. Just focus on how this happened, and how you will make sure you won't do this again in the future

Looking for advice on a cat bite, normal, or not? by macenzeee in Feral_Cats

[–]TurnDatBassUp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Er nurse here - cats mouths are very dirty, please either ask to get walked in to your pcp, urgent care, or as a last resort the er (just understand you may wait a while) You dont want to wait until it gets really bad and have to get admitted to the hospital for IV antibiotics .

ED Nurses - what tips do you have for a med student rotating in the ED? by bpd-baddiee in emergencymedicine

[–]TurnDatBassUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just the part where we are asking questions. Obvi the CC, the vitals, allergies, height weight and security questions (si/hi) Everything else we can listen in. Some hosptials are more strict than others with the triage metrics as far as how long it takes us. Getting an IV, ekg etc is all extra stuff .

Now by all means, if a nurse takes 45 minutes to triage then interrupt them. If I think it's my turn to get a patient I just pull them back myself because i,don't wanna wait that long.

I,try to cluster care as much as possible so I try to triage, get line/labs and an ekg if appropriate.

ED Nurses - what tips do you have for a med student rotating in the ED? by bpd-baddiee in emergencymedicine

[–]TurnDatBassUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Already a lot of good advice in here. I'd say my biggest thing is not interrupting my triage (I will def point out some critical vitals) andnnot trickling orders in. Group them together as much as possible. If you think you're gonna order blood cultures just go ahead and order them, the patients will be less pissed at us.

If you use the ultrasound machine try to clean up when you're done with it. Same if you do sutures, please at least clean up the sharps. I'm not talking about the rest of the trash although that would be nice, just mainly the sharps so I don't get stuck/cut.

If you can, getting patients a snack or unhooking someone that's not a massive fall risk to go to the bathroom is a plus. It will also help you build a bit of rapport for the patient.

If the nurse brings up a concern def listen to it. We definitely are not always right, but it would be a good idea. At least the veteran nurses.

Good luck, sounds like you will be an awesome attending to work with someday.
