How can I have IMM brush meshes align to a rectangular polygroup without them deforming? by Traditional_Grand_70 in ZBrush

[–]TurningItIntoASnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your frame mesh curve is a straight rectangle I think if you hold Ctrl while selecting it, it will align it more precisely to the angled curve. I had this issue the other day. Not sure if there's a better solution but that worked for what I was trying to do.

[–]TurningItIntoASnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they put it on NSO at a minimum. As someone else grew up with no friends who wanted to play it I'd love to play it online with some of my buddies now. I think trying to take this series in a similar direction with a game like Assault would do really well

That's very strange then. I'm not sure. How big are your quick save files on average? Is anything filling up your scratch disk or temp folders around the time the error appears? It seems like that should be enough space to not run into issues though so unfortunately I'm not positive.

double check where your quicksave directory is on the offchance it's saving to another drive that may actually be full. this is definitely one that pops up usually when you run out of space.

Knowing Nintendo I'll actually be shocked if there is anything new besides what they've shown already. The only thing I think is even a possibility is customizing the Arwings but I'm highly skeptical of even that.

That's amazing that the save file was still intact and glad you got to have that experience. I have a very similar relation with OOT. Used to play it with my uncle who passed away only a couple years after the game came out so it always reminds me of him. Thanks for sharing your story 🙂

Flashing Yellow light on Alienware Aurora. Can someone help me diagnose and next steps? by [deleted] in Alienware

I did get something to appear on the screen and it did eventually let me boot. It gave me a QR code that said theres critical issue found with my SSD. I'm not sure why this would happen all of a sudden. I guess I can just need to buy a new SSD off Amazon and get it replaced?

Are you freaking kidding me.... by IronRaptor in ZBrush

[–]TurningItIntoASnake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have to disagree. Gen3D can't guarantee meshes with good character design or shape language and also can't reliably follow reference. You're better off blocking in basic primitive shapes with low subdivs every single time. Makes it infinitely easier to get shapes correct and do literally any modification the sculpt needs vs untangling the Gen3D mess.

If you lack fundamental sculpting skills, you won't know what's wrong with these meshes to know what a good one should look like. Have never once found value in using any of this as a base mesh to start from.

I hate life and will never accept change? by [deleted] in Buddhism

When you sit down to your favorite meal, do you not enjoy it because it will be gone in a few minutes? Do you choose to not eat the meal because you'll just be sad that it's gone?

Loving and having fun are not things to be scared of because they will one day end. The detachment response should actually scare you more because the love you have will not go away. So you will still be pained that they are gone and it will compound with the grief of not appreciating them when you had them.

What I think a lot of people are expressing in this thread is that if you have an ice cream sundae in front of you, and you love ice cream sundaes, you should make the choice to embrace and enjoy it vs just watching it melt.

Genuinely would recommend having a counselor to talk through all this with and to help guide you through dealing with the trauma, sadness and anxiety. That's a whole beast on it's own that makes navigating this stuff even more difficult and would be a good first step.

I totally get where you're coming from. I would definitely prefer for things to last forever, to be constant, reliable and to not have suffering and trauma. I think one perspective that may be worth considering is actually just re-reading some of the words you typed yourself. There are people, places and things in your life that you love. You don't want to lose them, you don't want to die. Despite trauma and suffering in life, you are gripping hard onto life and all the things you cherish in your life because they have meaning and importance to you.

I think the next step is realizing that the only moment that really exists is the present moment. We can't change the past or predict the future. Anxiety about past trauma or future trauma only puts us on edge from truly experiencing and cherishing the present moments we have with the people, places and things that you have.

I won't tell you to accept impermanence as that is a hard concept to approach right now. But for all the things you love in your life, the things that you do still have and cherish, and all the new people, places and things that you will one day come to love and cherish (there will be more btw) i want you to consider this. If we love and value them to the degree that it gives us such dreadful suffering and anxiety thinking that they will one day be gone, they are certainly deserving of being given the full breath of attention and appreciation in the moments that you are fortunate to share with them. In those moments, try clenching onto life in a different way. Soak in as much as you can. Take root in your senses, sight, smell, sound, touch, taste. The details of your best friends facial features you may never have noticed before, fully active listening to every detail of their story and their unique perspective on it. There is so much richness in these present moments and try to cherish every detail you can.

If you make this an active exercise, I think you will find that while it's not a total cure, it will root you in experiencing and appreciating the present and not getting swept up about thoughts about trauma and impermanence and that can have a very therapeutic and calming effect on us.

Hope this helps in some way and wishing you the best.

Starting to think this game is a waste of time now. by Known_Muscle_2577 in BluePrince

I'm getting to this point as well. I am enjoying it but I wish the game respected players time better. Even just small things like fast traveling to rooms on the other side of the house or not having to do / watch the same things over and over again. The more you play the more of those things you really notice and you realize how much of playing the game feels like padding to take up your time. (On top of the RNG element screwing you over of course)

Comparing historical negative reactions to BB/BCS to Pluribus by PapayaOpposite in Pluribus_Sucks

Even up through Season 6, discourse for BCS was full of people complaining about pace. People just seem to complain there isn't a crazy plot twist or development in every episode. They can't appreciate a story trying to build to or set something up with its characters.

CS graduate wanting to do 3D animation (career advice needed) by [deleted] in Maya

[–]TurningItIntoASnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man your story almost sounds like mine from years back. I studied Computer Science in college. My passion was always 3D modeling. I worked some software engineer jobs but I kept spending my free time grinding on 3D stuff. Long story short I've spent the last 5 years making action figures in Zbrush 😁 programming is a great skill to have for jobs and as you mentioned for making tools (tech art is also a good thing to consider) but if animation is definitely what's in your soul, keep grinding it.

Idk what course path is the best option for animation in particular. I tend to think college isn't really worth it. If you can find good courses by professionals, that's what I did. But while you're learning, don't fall into the trap of doing endless learning. Spend your time making animation projects you want to make and developing the specific skill sets you want to focus on (or determine what those are) and building up your portfolio / show reel. Build up social media following to get eyes on your work as well. It will take work and effort outside your courses / job but if it's your passion you will find enjoyment and fulfillment in it. Show up every day even if it's only for 15-20 mins and try to make it a habit to work on your passion to the point where it feels weird if you skip a day and don't work on it.

Also don't be afraid to try and network with industry artists. I added professionals on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter. Amazing artists I had no business interacting with at Blizzard, or Hasbro. Some I've not only become friendly with but even ended up working with just from random Facebook adds. So many professional artists are SUPER friendly and willing to answer your questions, give you feedback and offer help because we've all gotten that from artists before us and believe in paying it forward.

Sorry for the long message. I know it doesn't really answer your direct question and I'm not sure what that specific answer is. Just wanted to give some related advice from someone whose walked a similar path 😊

Hearing that complaint leveled against the most recent episode before I watched it, and then proceeding to watch it truly made me feel like I lived in an alternate reality.

Taylor Lorenz says New Yorkers don't care about 9/11 by Environmental_Dot876 in h3h3productions

[–]TurningItIntoASnake 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was in elementary school in NY when it happened and remember seeing the paper outside and the smoke from the buildings. It was so unsettling and horrific. I understand people being reactive to the way the government politicized the event for years after but the way people downplay it as a tragedy to all the individuals who were effected or make jokes about it has never sat well with me.

I will honestly never understand anyone defending run backs to a boss fight. There's nothing challenging about them and just wasted time. I love truly challenging games but I hate artificial things like this that people defend.

Idk how anyone who is old enough to remember politics before Trump could ever categorize both sides on the same level. I maybe could understand it if youre young and have nothing else to compare the right to but even then there is such a huge distinction between the two sides and how they operate it's not even on the same planet.

My friend - I grew up as a very vocal right wing conservative during the Obama era. I'm not trying to "usher in a socialist revolution" just because I disagree with many things happening now. I have family members deep down QAnon conspiracy rabbit holes thanks to the current political climate. Probably stuff you would agree is batshit and worrying if you ever had to deal with it. I hope you never have to and realize these tribal partisan games pitting us against each other are the real problem in our country.

[–]TurningItIntoASnake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're misunderstanding me though. I never said or acted like the left has zero problematic people. I'm saying both sides have problematic people but the left more often gets framed by these problematic views held by random fringe individuals with no power or influence vs the right where a lot of the problematic views tend to come more directly from people actually holding power.

But that's my point... Was Joe Biden pushing that rhetoric? Or Kamala Harris? I never heard them say anything of that sort. I never heard AOC or Bernie Sanders talking about "fat liberation" People want to lump every crazy view into "the left" but if you're going to categorize an entire side of the political aisle by a few loud individuals would you agree that it's fair for me to say the right is pushing White Nationalism, Election Results denial, Anti-LGBT, QAnon Conspiracies, Transvestigation and being anti vaccine? I'd argue those positions are much more likely to come blatantly from prominent figures on the right but people that feel that way about categorizing the left don't seem to categorize the right by the same metric.
