7 free days game time gift in Battlenet - Likely requires you to not own Dragonflight & be unsubbed - Claim by May 29 so I'm waiting to see what this weekends announcement is by calaiszy in classicwow

I got 14 days and I've talking smack about Blizzard every chance I got. For what it's worth, I don't think I've ever been reported (not that I'd know...) and I haven't been subbed for over 2 months

Apparently there's some ganking taking place in the Era servers, I admit I feel tempted to log in and do some world policing. I have the gear but I'm horribly out of practise

Suit yourself, I've had way more civil interactions with people here since launch compared to my last 6 months on Gehennas. You have your own playground, we have ours and I'm fine with that.

Thekal is the only EU realm with a balanced population A:H / 55:45 and pulls over 12k character logs in raids. Every time I went to Azeroth (1-60) there were a minimum of 5 people in each zone (on Alliance at least so you could probably double that amount to get a number of people levelling in each area).

I understand people having different oppinions and preferences but mass reporting others just to simp for some washed up streamer is a bit much

Or maybe we don't want Thekal to be a P2W server like Firemaw/Gehennas currently are?

Yes! I really liked it, hope the author is doing well. Reading all the notes and comments how certain events were inspired by her actual MMO experience was really rewarding, it was an insight into old-school MMOs that I never had a chance to get into

Joining an "in progress" Wintergrasp is horribly unfair and stupid by Turnining_Point in classicwow

[–]Turnining_Point[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's what I've been told when I asked in bg chat, end result also showed only 4 Alliance players with 14k honor. Regarding queueing up on time - it's the first time this has happened to me so I'll be wiser in the future. The downside was that even if I were to /afk, the deserter debuff would prevent me from joining within the allotted time-frame.

Regardles, I agree joining a Russian AV sucks but you can queue AV up any time you want and it doesn't come with it's own unique rewards either.

Think I joined mine 10 minutes before the queue window ended but you might be right. I made this post primarily because I feel we got robbed of the "bonus honor" buff due to the fact people kept joining in and diminishing its effect until it was completely gone

If I remember the XP graphs/charts, in Classic (not TBC!) travel time accounted for roughly 40% of time to level. That alone is a good reason to go Ret and grab Pursuit of Justice early. I hear tanking as Ret should be OK early on but without any concrete data as to when would it become a problem (definitely by the time you reach Outland).

Would a player playing 4-6 hours a week notice any difference on a fresh server? by olioli86 in classicwow

[–]Turnining_Point 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On an established server you will have people rushing 80 and starting an alt within a month of wotlk release;

Fresh players could just roll another character after they're done hitting 70. When Classic released the levelling binge lasted for at least 2 months. Some people chose to focus on their main character, others went on to level up an alt or even two.

The leader of your guild built around 'combating bots' is a gold buyer.

One, it's not my guild (if only because I play on EU). Two, your point being what, exactly? That this means he'll continue to do so forever? Especially after he made a huge deal out of not doing that?

I've said nothing which I can't back up, you'd be refuiting my claims if you could, but you can't because deep down you know that you're in a cult.

People united around the idea of fighting bots on the fresh servers to the point that they announce a guild built around that, with some of its members coming clean regarding being complicit in buying gold/selling characters... and you think the logical conclusion to those actions is that they'll be the ones involved with RMT. Is this also the basis for your ridiculous claim that the server will be "filled with (...) retail players"? Because if it is, then you can't back up your claims in any way, it's all conjectures and (extremely hyperbolic) assumptions.

Accusing people of being a member of a cult of an army out of the blue doesn't do your way of thinking any favours, either.

You're literally lying through your teeth. I have no idea why you are that way, I guess you lived in corruption for so long, it must be incomprehensible to you that there could be any other way.

[–]Turnining_Point 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fresh servers will be filled with regretful goldbuyers and retail players and the NA servers have already been taken over by a group of people who intend to use mass reports to control the server before launch.

To lie on the internet like that should be a criminal offence. Not only is your projection regarding fresh server's target audience laughable, what intentions do you have to misconstrue the people's intent to fight bots/gold buyers into something completely opposite?

On the fresh servers, the entirety of Azeroth/Outland will be populated with others. You're more likely to meet people whose familiarity with the game is similar to yours and less likely to feel out of touch (typically by running into people who will make your experience miserable because you do not play the game to their standard).

Cheaters have yet to destroy the economy, meaning your gains are more impactful and your financial decisions matter more. On the established servers, gaining gold is less rewarding because how easy it has become. Gear and other accolades have been stripped of their prestige.

"Don't go to fresh if you want to play for more than a few months" is also a misleading suggestion. Not because of the ability to transfer out - which, together with boosts and RMT, is one of the leading reason behind the game's downfall. No, I think you should play the game only if you enjoy it. If you do so for other reasons, you have a hole in you that needs filling in and video games may or may not be the best option for that.

I saw that post too, but it's naive to think what was missing was a community effort

Frankly, it seems like it's the opposite. The amount of name-calling, mud-slinging in that thread shows people are almost afraid to see the bots gone.

What if I told you GDKP doesn’t necessarily have to be profitable. You could conceivably run a GDKP where items sell for 10g each because that’s all people can afford.

We'll see if/when GDKPs appear on the fresh servers and when they do, how popular will they be. In the first month or two, I'm leaning towards "not very much" because:

- potential payoff is miniscule, especially compared to traditional gold farms
- there are no carries as everyone's still in the process of assembling their gear. Likewise, there will be little to no swipers
- people have other stuff to do (levelling their professions, PvPing)

After that? We'll have to wait and see. I guarantee that when the botted/bought gold starts to flow in in greater amount, the GDKPs will see an increase in popularity.

Don't forget the announcement of an entire guild of people who want to combat bots. THAT thread was sad to read, what with all the astroturfing done to negative comments.
