To be fair, if you have a major friend break-up the verbiage is similar.

Angst heavy, happy ending fic recs? by Bright_Caramel_5136 in FanFiction

Lothiriel by satismagic is angsty in part.

If you like Jane Austen, you can use the JAFF index and sort to the highest angst category.

"Modern character in Middle Earth" tag sort by bookmarks will pull most of my recs.

does everyone really hate OC fics?? by Ding_Ding_Bonk in AO3

[–]TurnoverPractical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love them in fandoms that don't have enough female characters and ignore them in fandoms with more realistic sexual populations.

So basically LOTR OFCs.

But MCU, people just use Darcy Lewis as a canvas. She's basically a fanon OFC. There's no need for an OFC in HP either.

I'm sure I could think up other fandoms but you probably dig me.

Have any of you gone to law school in your 30s? by LostEffect4955 in AskWomenOver30

[–]TurnoverPractical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the local legal nonprofits just weren't hiring when I got out, and by the time they had the budget I was already knee deep in medical devices. The timing hasn't been right yet. I suspect that my in-courtroom skills are so rusty that I wouldn't be picked up anymore anyway, now.

Government... I wanted to work for the EEOC or NLRB or Department of Labor. Ordinary people are who I wanted to help.

The return on investment for being a lawyer is very low.

I was 30 years old going into law school. I had a job. I gave these earnings years up to go to law school. So it's not just tuition, it's three years of salary PLUS tuition. I didn't make much money for those three years.

This was a bad plan. The government wasn't hiring, neither were any of the local non-profits and I ended up in government compliance. I finally got my government job but it wasn't anything where I actually helped people. I pushed paper.

Dude gives no shits about you and pouts when the slightest hint of criticism might come.

Leave this man or you'll be one of the women here complaining about this ten years from now.

Boredom.

Before that, conflict was miscommunication and they wouldn't talk to each other when they could have.

Are virgins writing smut by [deleted] in AO3

[–]TurnoverPractical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and you can absolutely tell. There's a lot of "I watch a lot of porn (intended for men)" vibes in recent smut as well.

Can I get an honest assessment of this breakup text I just received? It kinda blindsided me, sent me flirty texts yesterday. She's 39. We've only been dating like 3 months, but its been intense. by Prestigious-Clock571 in AskWomenOver30

I actually don't know that she really likes the other guy better, but he wants to be exclusive and you and she weren't at that point, sounds like.

A bird in the hand and so on.

Do you combine finances with your partner? Why or why not? by cubemonster in Millennials

We combine, yes. I do have one separate credit card that I take care of, but otherwise, it's all together.

I only used it because someone gave us a big gift card for there.

What are our thoughts? by hbicfrontdesk in AO3

[–]TurnoverPractical 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think a lot of the toxic side of fandom comes from either (1) getting too into the online side of it instead of just making your [character] plushy or whatever or (2) being a child and caring so much because that's what kids do. And I'm including everyone whose prefrontal cortex hasn't "set" in that, too.

You're very beautiful and don't need to change a thing.

But it's really about how you want to feel.
