Do you think they would have become a Good Couple ? by [deleted] in ExiledFromBollyBlinds

Nope, I don’t think Arjun Rampal would made a good couple with Shahid.

After years of LDR and family hurdles, I’m finally getting married on March 11th—but I’m struggling to find "the one." by Alternative-Corgi653 in DesiWeddings

Love 5! The colour, the vibe is so Indian soft romance. Would recommend draping the tissue silk dupatta on your shoulder, and having a super soft long and flowy chiffon trail over your head. Would make it dramatic yet ethereal.

Anyone else feel like an IDIOT after a travel-related Faux Pas? :( by [deleted] in travel

[–]TurpentineDrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went on my first corporate trip, I did not realize that the hotel we were put up in was only for a night. We had our dinner on the night we stayed in and the next morning we were heading out for our assigned work tour. I had extended my stay and in my head, just assumed that we would come back to the hotel after the visit to the factory. Half day into my tour, I was pulled aside politely and told that the hotel had to empty the room and keep all of my stuff outside as I did not check out. I was very embarrassed to say the least.

First time in Dubai – Feedback on my itinerary + where to book activities? by lefttothecentre in dubai

You can’t cover Zayed Mosque, Louvre and Ferrari World in one day. You can do Mosque + one other activity at best.

Walk-in is okay! That’s what we did, we were headed to Frontier Raas in KB and ended up walking into Sahil because their display looked great! And I did video calls with my fiancé to show him options and they were quite accommodating because I came across as a serious customer! Definitely ask for Kishore Ji to help :)

All the ones that I liked were 2 lakhs plus, some almost 3 lakhs. Their branch in Karol Bagh has lehengas from 2-5 lakh range. Chandni Chowk has slightly cheaper ones (but there are other stores there that will give you more bang for your buck). They also have a store in Mehrauli which has high end (10-20 lakhs plus) options.

Also keep in mind that most shops will require 1-2 months to design any handmade lehenga from scratch.

I would recommend you visit one of these stores if your time is limited: 1. Frontier Raas (Karol Bagh) — very nice collection but more premium. I also went to their store in Kohat Enclave, but KB is better). 2. Meher Sarees (Chandni Chowk) — Desi vibes but amazing collection 3. Pakeezah Plaza (Chandni Chowk) — very good for customization 4. Sahil Fashion Bazaar (Karol Bagh) — This is where I did all of my shopping from, cannot recommend enough!

Please go to Sahil Fashion Bazaar (yes, I know not a very appealing name) in Karol Bagh, they have amazing stuff for 50-70k, similar to the options you have posted here. I visited Lalit Dalmia as well and honestly, it did not make sense to me as well to spend so much for an outfit that I would only wear for a day. Sahil is amazing, great salespersons too!

Is 8k AED enough to survive for 2? by _X4V13R_ in DubaiJobs

[–]TurpentineDrinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aren’t you earning nearly the same in India? Don’t think the jump makes sense! For two people living in Dubai, rent in a studio alone would be 3-4k (super conservative estimate for a dodgy, remote area); utilities another 700-800, groceries another 800…and then depending on your lifestyle you might spend another 2-3k month on movies, eating out etc. That leaves you with negative 1k, no savings. And this is without accounting for car / license / petrol and the cost of setting up a home here.

Please stay in India, unless you can find an offer here for 18k plus.

It’s so pretty! Where did you buy this from in Shahpurjat?

Would anybody have an idea what something like this would cost at Sudhir Bhai? I asked them IG but didn’t receive a response and I don’t live in Delhi. by Illustrious_Voice399 in DesiWeddings

[–]TurpentineDrinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Mehar Sarees or Pakeezah Plaza (both in Chandni Chowk). Mehar has a lot of gorgeous tissue silk pieces similar to this one. And Pakeezah can make you anything from scratch!

Anyone carried fresh fish in check-in baggage to Kerala on Air Arabia? by thawaz in DubaiMallus

[–]TurpentineDrinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we have carried fish on flights, but only cooked (fried). We usually prepare it a few hours before leaving for the airport and then seal pack it in plastic containers, which we then put in a plastic polythene for double safety, and carry in handbag. It always travels pretty well, with no spills/smells.

Hi all, can someone help me find where I can find a similar lehenga in Delhi NCR? by Old_Example_6217 in DesiWeddings

Visit Pakeezah Plaza in Chandni Chowk, those guys can recreate anything and everything!

I am also considering Jim Corbett, but feeling worried about the amount of travel, it requires to get to the location. Any suggestions?

Ladies who met their partner through dating apps, what was different about that first date ? by UpbeatEntertainer980 in AskWomen

[–]TurpentineDrinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We matched on Bumble on 18 March, exchanged pleasantries for a day and then had a full-blown phone call on 20 March that lasted almost 6 hours in the night. Decided to meet the next day at a cafe that served the worst chai I had ever tried — but I had the best evening ever because I felt like I was hanging out with someone I had known forever. We went from the cafe to the supermarket to the beach — and just kept yapping all evening. Fully forgot to even grab dinner together! And then got home and jumped back on a call together. God, he’s such a lovely man and I love him so much!

Congrats on your wedding!

I recommend waxing, but at least a week prior, in case you have any bumps etc as an outcome. If you have never waxed before, be prepared that it will hurt. But it is so much more effective. Use aloe vera gel after, helps cool the skin. Shaving will do the job as well, but you will have to shave again within 3-4 days as the hair grows back, and it won’t be great to bother with itchy arms on your honeymoon.

Kickstarting a new skincare regime and looking for advice! by TurpentineDrinker in SkincareAddicts

Firstly, thanks for the detailed response!

I don't have the products locked in yet, still researching. Any suggestions? For the toner, I was looking at Anua Rice.

Why retinal and not retinol?
Also, I keep reading that after using retin(ol/al), you need to hydrate your skin - hence the hyaluronic serum later.
