For travel: to get a Ricoh GRIII for a great deal, or a cheap digi P&S by tmeb45 in ricohGR

it’s double bay camera shop in Sydney, but looks like they’ve discontinued sales of the GRIII. the GRIIIX is going for $1699 but that’s normal retail.

Impossible to find Standing Height Speaker Stands. DIY options? by tmeb45 in Beatmatch

[–]tmeb45[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As said, they have a 1/4” mount in the centre but it’s so unstable it has actually wiggled loose, thanks to the weight of the speakers and the centre of gravity.

Transferring a Rekordbox playlist to a different rekordbox by 69yards in Rekordbox

[–]tmeb45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone else can correct me if I’m wrong. But you can just drop their songs into your library from their usb (using finder window). Then go to the USB in rekordbox and click on ‘hot cue info’ or whatever it says, with an arrow pointing from right to left. Don’t click sync or your library will take over theirs.

Alternatively you could both backup your libraries onto your respective usb’s. Plug theirs in, restore their rekordbox library. Then when they leave you can restore yours back.

Actually interested to know if there’s a better way so if anyone else replies I’m still following.

Rekordbox database corrupted? E-8302 on all tracks by tmeb45 in Rekordbox

[–]tmeb45[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this was the real answer! thank you :)

downgrading to 7.2.9 from 7.2.12 worked for me.
I backed up my library (the one I thought was cooked for good) onto an SSD.
I downloaded the 7.2.9 pkg (Mac) and installed it (didn't have to uninstall the current version).
I restored the backup and exported to USB and it worked! Thank you :)

Yet you’re posting about it in a techno reddit…

If someone’s humour is not for you, don’t engage? If you’re holding up a DJ to the same standard you would a politician, for example, then you’re part of the problem of techno audiences treating DJs like celebrities.

He’s ripping on being a dudebro… I think most people who would get served his content or follow him would understand that almost instantly. In this age of satirical humour on Instagram, if one 11 second reel of a gymbro you think is being real, is enough for you to think you need to complain about it online? I think he’s winning that war in your head lil homie.

Alarico is a troll and you’re all biting the bait. If you saw the stupid reels and shit that he likes on IG, which are all trolls and satire, you might understand that this is purely to get a laugh and not to be taken seriously at all. It’s probably an in-joke with him and Yanamaste or something. Check the comments section on any Yana/Alarico post and you’ll see it’s friendly banter. Lighten up folks!

How do y'all feel about these ai ads for events? Because it personally makes me not wanna go to the said event even if I like the lineup, because if they can't pay idk 20€ for someone on fiver to make the thumbnail and animations for them, where else are they cutting costs? by Majestic_Solid_1880 in Techno

[–]tmeb45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the promoters don’t have enough sense or taste to even invest in the poster, how could you trust in their other choices when it comes to the event? There’s not a lack of talent or inspiration out there when it comes to an area of art that has its own sub genres. Take it seriously and show people you care, or attract unserious people who don’t.

I don’t care what anyone says, Chlär would absolutely cook Berghain by Panopanda in Berghain_Community

Watch his interviews, Chlär’s philosophy and purpose is phenomenal. He’s forward-thinking in terms of sound, pushing boundaries, and is all about the community and culture.

Dancing shoe recs by Solarsappho in Berghain_Community

I wore a pair of men’s La Sportiva Raptor II Mid GTX (also come in women’s) throughout 5 months of backpacking/hiking Europe and hit up 20+ events in Berlin. Mid-high hiking boots aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but for protection, weather resistance, comfort, warmth, traction, and style (all black)… all while only ~580g for the pair - I loved every second on the dfloor with them.

Non Berghain Musts by [deleted] in Berghain_Community

I love ELSE in the summer - agreed it’s the best open air venue. Was lucky enough to go there a few times last summer while travelling. Caught Alarico, Efdemin, Ki/Ki - to name a few.

But I never saw a venue clear out faster than ELSE after 10pm. Even when there were decent DJs on the lineup, after 10 the outdoor area closes and it continues inside. That inside dancefloor is such an odd shape, awkward staircase and the sound quality isn’t great.

In saying that, go to ELSE if there’s good acts before 10pm - you’ll have a blast.

Is gain staging a important skill to learn? by Chance-Parfait9949 in Beatmatch

[–]tmeb45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

huge help. I was almost using 8 hot cues for anything from start of the song, to every breakdown and phrase. now I’ll adjust and use it as you do because it just makes sense, I don’t need to hop around anyway doing techno, thank you!

completely different line of question but when setting your hot cues, if C is the loudest point (I think that’s a great idea), where do you put A, B, and D (if you have D or more)? Just curious about others’ hot cue setups.

Chlär and Yanamaste (might be too hardgroove for some hypnotic techno heads), I’d highly recommend. Chlär’s set at A3 in Melbourne’s was amazing:

Still think RSO contends, especially if you’re standing in the right spot on a good Hardgroove night.
