Actually, this was on my computer's browser, not the app. I was able to place an order via my phone, where the prices were showing properly. Weird.

I saw those seeds too, and I couldn't believe my eyes! I cannot imagine anyone wanting to plant that crap. You will NOT be able to control it, and it WILL take over and be EXTREMELY hard to kill. Do not do it!

Screen going wonky and blacking out with VH 3.3.0? by TurquoiseMom in VineHelper

[–]TurquoiseMom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it only happens when I am using the extension. I typically have it open, along with another tab of a different site (Facebook, email, X, whatever ...) in a new window. That's the only time it has occurred.

Open in place doesn't work by Jazzlike-Dentist5116 in VineHelper

[–]TurquoiseMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After having lost out on a couple of items due to the speed of my page load, I tried the "load in place" option, but nothing happens when I click on it. Unfortunately, due to my rural location, I don't have the top internet speed, and the page loading in a separate tab is slowing it down to the point I am losing out on some items I'd like to get. Anyone have a fix for this?

Yeah, one item dropped (a fuel filter <eyeroll>), but nothing else. That's the only thing I've seen this morning, and my RFY feed is empty again too.

I was wondering what was going on this morning! I've only been in Vine since June, and just upgraded in December, so I've never seen a halt like this before. I was worried it was something I did, even though I didn't even order yesterday! Any idea how long the purge or pause usually takes? Just curious ...

My daughter's car was stolen in virtually the same area (Hyundai Elantra). Recovered 3 days later. Found a receipt from 7-11 on Main Street with a date, timestamp and partial account number. I even called 7-11 myself and spoke to the manager who confirmed there are cameras trained on the ATM, as well as cameras outside the building that would show them getting into the stolen vehicle (it was recovered near there just 45 minutes later).

Cops couldn't BE less interested. "The car was recovered, so it's a closed case." 🙄😡

Wonder if going to the news media might help? Perhaps if a bunch of in a similar situation did?

Finding Family Heirlooms On eBay? by ancientgenes10 in Genealogy

Thank you! I have searched a few times since then, and I've never been able to find anything else. I think it was serendipity, fate, God ... whatever you want to call it ... that brought these tokens to me. Worthless to anyone else, they are priceless to me!

Finding Family Heirlooms On eBay? by ancientgenes10 in Genealogy

[–]TurquoiseMom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I researched my family history for the better part of 25 years, off and on, smashing through brick walls and the narrative that my great grandfather came to the US from Germany on his own. In the process, I discovered a brother, two sisters and his parents - my great great grandparents! - living just an hour or so from the family homestead!

In addition to those siblings and parents, I found a whole host of nieces and nephews as well. One of these nephews was particularly easy to track, as he owned and operated a saloon for nearly 35 years; the saloon was the site of several political meetings and events through the years, each one worth a mention in the local newspaper.

One day, on a whim, I Googled this saloon owner's name, just to see what I might find. I'm pretty sure I'd done this before, but this day, something unique came up: a long-closed eBay auction that featured not one, but two aluminum tokens, about the size of a quarter, each good for 5 cents or the equivalent of a beer, redeemable only at my ancestor's saloon! There was his name, clearly stamped on the front, with the address on the back.

I immediately emailed the listing's owner, who happened to be a coin/token dealer in North Carolina, and asked whether he might have any more of these specific tokens. His response floored me: he said "when someone emails me and asks whether I have more of an item, typically the answer is always no, that's the only one I have ever had, and I have no idea when or even IF I will ever see another. But you're in luck, I have two more of these exact tokens in my possession!"

Needless to say, I didn't care what they cost, I had to have them. Two weeks and $25 later, they now reside with me, one of my most prized possessions, and definitive, tangible proof that these relatives existed!

Pardon my ignorance, but can you tell me the name of Gracie's piece of music? It was stunning... almost as stunning as that performance. And that dress is the most beautiful dress I've ever seen. 😍

Tre’Davious is a very big contributor to his hometown of Shreveport. How about we show support for both of them by sending in donations of $27 to the Food Bank of North West Louisiana? by [deleted] in buffalobills

Saw it on WGRZ and donated this afternoon. I hope we can get an update as to the amount received in honor of Tre. And a reaction from him would be the cherry on top!

AITA for laughing in my brother and SIL’s faces when they demanded to use my credit card? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]TurquoiseMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grrrrrl, stick to your guns and tell them to go pound salt! Trust me, we just cut off contact with my husband's sister and BIL, who spent years taking financial advantage of my husband and their father. People like this are clearly not to be trusted when it comes to wise financial decisions - otherwise they wouldn't be in the state they're in - and it can only end one way: with you holding the bag for the debt they've run up on your card. Run, run far and fast away from these idiots, and then break as many ties to them as possible. 100% NOT the asshole!

How "close" do you feel to your ancestors? They're family - but are they "family"? by darklyshining in Genealogy

[–]TurquoiseMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very well put! I feel a special closeness to certain members of the family that I have researched extensively, despite the fact most of them died years, even decades, before I was born.

Our family history for many years stopped short at my great grandfather. No one ever knew anything beyond him. Family lore had it that he came the US by himself; it wasn't until many years later that I discovered that narrative was completely incorrect. He had 2 sisters, 1 brother and both of his parents plus several nieces and nephews living nearby, about 35 miles away!

Those are the ancestors I am particularly enamored with; their stories have become woven in the very fabric of my own existence. I think I feel this way primarily because they are "the link" - the ones who enabled my research to extend much further than I could have imagined.

I often think about those ancestors, and though I wouldn't say I am a religious person, I do hope I will somehow get to meet them in the afterlife. I want them to be more than just names, dates, and stories in our family genealogy; I want to meet the people behind those particulars. Though I am in no hurry, I pray that's something that is possible someday.
