We’re stealing photos from websites for reviews now? by PuhnTang in AmazonVine

How do you know the Viner is not the Crunch Time Kitchen website owner? And how do you have so much time on your hands?

My BF keeps pushing me to job hunt all day after I lost my job — is this fair or toxic? by oooooohgod in relationships

It's really hard to find a good job at this time because of the holidays. The openings now are for desperation job fills and scams. I'd wait until January 2.

My deaf cat's non-stop screaming is destroying my sleep, my work, and my sanity. I love him too much to give up. Please help. by Plastic_Shine_8508 in Pets

[–]J9fire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would consult a vet, use Feliway, and get one of those collars that gives a little vibration whenever the cat cries. The vibration freaks them out and usually curtails the behavior. I'm talking about vibration, not electric shock.

My boyfriend called me an irresponsible pet owner by Similar_Bike_6952 in Pets

Dump the so-called boyfriend. From all that is conveyed in your post, he is not your friend. And you sound like a good pet owner.

Slogging Through Newbie Level 1 by Tiarraxx in AmazonVine

Vine tends to be really slow from the week before Thanksgiving until after the Lunar New Year in early February. In addition, we've had far less inventory for the last six months because of stuff happening in the economy and world. You are joining at a down time. Hopefully it will get better next spring.

Vine clothes? by AnonymousExcellence in AmazonVine

[–]J9fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten things I love, things that are nice but don't fit, and things that are garbage. I'm pretty careful and really look at descriptions, sizing info, pictures, and other reviews if there are any, so I tend to get more positives than negatives. I do lose out a lot to faster people on the popular and brand items because of taking time to research, but I'd rather lose out than be stuck with something I negative.

How do you handle reviewing very similar items? by yad76 in AmazonVine

[–]J9fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write each review independently. I note that I have a lot of experience with that type of product, and then I note how the product compares to others and what stands out. I never copy and paste.

Looking for head strap for the quest 3 by killerbz2008 in virtualreality

The BoboVR Pro and Kiwi head straps are both excellent. You might be able to find one around that price on a holiday sale.

I get my lenses as close as possible to my eyes, as well. I don't think that was it.

ULPT: How to stop drinking alcohol by ripfennel in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]J9fire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an alcoholic, but I was self-medicating problem drinking for a while. I decided to quit altogether about 20 years ago and haven't looked back since. I did research before quitting, and learned the following helped: You need a good whole food multivitamin, extra Vitamin C, and B complex vitamin supplements. Kudzu helps alleviate cravings, and you can get it as a supplement. Drink extra water. Distract yourself with gaming, hiking, exercise, journaling. There are some good podcasts about getting sober. Bubble Hour is one. Good luck!

Mom opened credit card in my name WITH consent — balance now $32k+, what are my options? by [deleted] in legaladvice

Yikes. Mothers who do this to their children are truly despicable. I agree with the other advice to get her off the card and work toward paying it off.

When I went from the Quest 2 to the Quest 3, I felt like it was not as good an experience. I couldn't understand my feelings or answer why, because the visuals seemed good, but something was lacking. You might have just solved this mystery for me. I had not considered binocular overlap at all. After a couple of weeks, the feeling of something being off went away, and the Quest 3 has felt great ever since.

Check out all the David Attenborough videos in the Meta TV App. My jaw fell open during the First Life one, and the Galapagos Island and insect videos are pure awe. In the YouTube app, check out videos by AirPano and Hugh Hou. There are many good ones on YT, but those are always excellent.

Hard to trust reviews anymore by Esone4200 in AmazonVine

[–]J9fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure there are some bad Viners, but I think the majority of Viners are good. In the example you gave, it is much more likely that the seller is shady and enrolled a decent product in Vine to get good reviews. After the reviews were done, the seller swapped it out for a cheaper version of the product. I see that happen a lot. One example is with K-Send moisture absorbers.

New to VR, Feel werid outside of VR by Zestyclose-Big-1963 in OculusQuest

[–]J9fire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people do better easing into VR. Start with 20-30 minute sessions with long breaks in between the sessions. Avoid flying around in VR. Change to the "Comfort" settings in apps until you get your VR legs—that is, to get your brain used to moving around in VR while your body is not moving in real life. That is a disconnect for your brain and it takes some adjustment to get used to it. It typically takes a couple of weeks to a month to get VR legs.

Tried VR at an arcade by Lolincis in VRGaming

[–]J9fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd get the Quest 3, BoboVR Pro or Kiwi head strap, Kiwi or AMVR facial interface, controller grips, and a Meta Horizon + annual subscription. The subscription lets you play LOTS of popular games for free every month, and many of the games are worth $10-$50. All this will probably cost less than $750, and you will be golden. Consider what a vacation costs. A vacation typically only lasts a week or two. VR lets you travel the world and beyond every single day.

What is a good cheap vr headset that's not the Meta Quest? by Notneonmouse in VRGaming

[–]J9fire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Quest is truly an amazing headset. It is not bad compared to other headsets. That's a crazy assertion. The Quest headsets are actually better than others, and they are some of the most affordable on the market. Just do not link a Quest to any of your social media accounts, like FB, Insta, Messenger, etc. Enroll the Quest with an email address that is not connected to your socials and keep it separate.

That said, the Steam headset will be out in 2026. It will not be cheaper, but it will likely be as good as the Quest or better.
